im trying to get into 4k, don't care about photo quality, other camera do that better. from everything i've seen samsung has edge on 4k video, but crop on nx500 is bit much, hopefully they can fix in firmware.
Crop is no so important. Panasonic also has crop.
Bitrate and compression are much better in NX500 (after recent firmware update)
Has Samsung fixed for the NX500 the recording limit with the automatic restarting like they did for the NX1 with recent firmware?
As far as I know answer is not.
Also, does anybody think the NX500 will go even lower this year than the current price?
No one knows. Sales happen.
Awesome price. The output HDMI is or not live on, I can use monitor when record video?

Remote Viewfinder only for photography... Too sad :(
Samsung has just announced that they will be taking their popular #DitchTheDSLR event to the Pix Photo Expo in Seattle next month.
This year, on October 6th & 7th, Samsung will be trading consumers their new compact NX500 ILC,
NX500 is new king of APS-C. Beating NX1 and moving up on full frame cameras. That's if you believe these testing guys.
But difference is not very huge
One very good thing is that if you are patient you can get NX500 on sale :-)
If they start selling the NX500 bodies only at the big camera shops, this might be best bang for your buck hybrid. It may be already.
If they start selling the NX500 bodies only at the big camera shops
I do not understand that you mean. For now Samsung is pulling out of shops in most countries. Not because they so want it, but because shops want good margin products with fast turnaround, and Samsung cameras margins are not big (read - sellers have no reason to recommend it, as they get sell for such sale!) and they sell slow.
I just mean body only should be really cheap. It's already cheap with the 16-50 lens. So if they're pulling out of shops, how are people supposed to buy their cameras? Small little story, I went to Samy's camera, a big retailer and asked some question about the Samsung NX cameras, the salesman's eyes glazed over as if I was speaking Cambodian.
The articulating screen of the NX500 is particularly useful for use on a 3-axis gimbal, where the rear motor blocks a fixed lcd screen.
Here is a 4K video test on the Beholder MS1:

dpreview finally made it
On the whole, Samsung has done a great job. Still photos are as good as anything you'll get from the NX1, and 4K video is excellent (as long as you don't need wide angle or very low light footage). Samsung's hybrid AF system seems to lose a slight step in speed compared to the NX1, but it's still very effective and likely more than adequate for most situations in which this type of camera will be used.

Rumors somehow affect what camera is doing?
