I was at NAB and stopped by the Atomos booth (I think they won best booth and they def. deserved it) - very impressed with this Monitor / Recorder. I own 3 Ninja's and have found them useful for so many situations. I like that they added 3D LUTs / cube files to this monitor, but I miss the old Ninja layout on the controls. Also the Ninja was $700 when I got it - and the guy at the booth told me this one is about 2,000 D:

I'll wait for it to come down in price a bit, as I'm not desperate for 4K recording just yet, but this is one of my future purchases for sure!

The version in Atomos Ninja II does resize the images. Check your file with MediaInfo

You are still recording in 1080p.

Using one this weekend with a Sony F3 on a music video! :-D Will report back how it is, should unlock the beast within.

Is 5am and just got home from the first day of shooting. Nice screen, very nice! But boy it took me a while to work out how to get the settings right to trigger the recording from the F3.

However.... I for the life of me simply can not work out how to record in the Atomos Shogun 1080p 60fps from the F3!!

How??? :-( Help? :-/

To record 1080/60p from the F3 to the Shogun, the F3 needs the RGB444 upgrade key. Set the video F3 video mode to 1080i and set the SDI output format to 3G-422.

I've got the RGB444 upgrade. Where is the setting for 1080i, I don't recall seeing that when I was endlessly digging through sub menus? (Sorry quite new to the F3 still, was my first proper shoot with it!)

Look for "Changing the format" in the manual.

Can I record interally on the gh4 while watching on the shogun and also use Its features?

Yeah you can just use it as a monitor.

You can record internally while recording/watching on the Shogun, but only in 8-bit mode.

How's the battery life? I'd love to be able to hang this on a belt mount, and consult it as I'm moving around. (Would also be nice to have wireless HDMI between the two as well.)

Helllo! I've read somewhere, that it was possible to flip the screen on my Shogun. Can anyone confirm this?
