1. Heat.

A temperature of 133 degrees F for 15 min inactivates the SARS corona virus according to the WHO. This would most likely also apply to the Covid-19 virus. Viruses certainly die at temperatures of 160-170 degrees F. A used mask can be treated safely at these temperatures in an oven. I'd think 160 degrees for 1/2 hour would be more than adequate. Consider rotating mask used with heat treatment of the used mask.

Heat the mask in dry heat to 60C (140F) for 30 minutes. Use a calibrated thermometer. Place your old masks in bags (paper preferably) , put the bags in the oven open. You want to put the bags in paper to reduce cross contamination between the people touching the mask and people touching the oven. You can also write names on the paper bags and when it went into the oven. Obviously if the mask encounters a fluid like blood it should be thrown out. This does not degrade the mask over 20 cycles.You can err on the side of being a little too warm, the straps will suffer damage before the mask itself will. ( you can remove the straps before heat treatment )

Ovens will also work for most other types of PPE. As 60C is cooler than the temperature in your car on a hot summer day usually.

3. Ultraviolet Light.

Warning: the bulb in the link creates OZONE, this is a gas and isn't something you want to breathe, it is bad for your lungs, so use the bulb in a enclosed space to disinfect the mask... then air it out after (making sure not to breath the ozone air). Its not "toxic" but it's not good to be breathing in concentrated quantities.

@Vitaliy....could very well be true china is covering up their cases. There's already countries hoarding food supplies. Field hospitals have been used for 300 years during times of war. People do what they can. It's too easy just to blame everything on the 'elites'. This is too chaotic to be planned. Just put masks on fresh air under direct sun. It must be also not wet. Works 100%.

The Sun ran an article in Feburary 2020 covering viral social media videos purportedly showing citizens in Wuhan having their apartment doors welded shut during the COVID-19 lockdown. The wording of the article implies (without fully stating) that these actions were performed by agents of the Chinese government to enforce the quarantine on people known or suspected to be infected.

This event happened in late January, but not in Wuhan. The restriction was imposed on the accommodation of someone who had been to Wuhan. It was soon seen by the government as an over-reaction, and the metal bars used to secure the door were removed.

China's investigative media XinJing Paper reported on it:

Two videos of the door of a suspected Wuhan homecomer were circulated on the Internet, causing concern. On January 30, a reporter from the Beijing News confirmed that the incident occurred in Lianshui County, Huaian City, Jiangsu Province.
