    I have 14mm 2.5, 20mm 1.7, and Ai-s 50mm 1.4. Definitely not interested in Sigma 30mm 2.8.

    I'm looking for 0.6x converter to turn Ai-s 50mm 1.4 into 30mm 1.7 if one third stop light loss.

    Calvision has 3 different flavors for 0.6x converter. No idea which one will work if it works. http://www.cavision.com/optics/industrial/adapters.htm

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Also I'm hoping it turns 20mm 1.7 into 12mm 2.0 :)

    There is some mild vignetting on my adapter, you'll see it on the scopes in one of the next sets of FS Tutorials. it's about a 1/4 stop difference between center to edge. It's not obviously visible, but when analyzing on the scopes you can see it....very gradual though.

    I don't notice any distortion, but I think there's probably some there. So it is not ideal. But it saves me having to lug more lenses around, and it provides more framing options off the same glass. obviously it doesn't change the lens compression, but I love the compression on my 50.

    I've tried something similar with my 14mm pancake, this time using .6 and 1.5 extenders:

    ETC OFF

    14mm = 28mm equiv*

    28* x .6 = 16.8 equiv

    28* x 1.5 = 42 (vignette + barrel distortion)

    ETC ON

    28* x2 = 52 equiv

    28* x .6 x2 = 33.6

    28* x 1.5 x2= 84

    Makes a very compact kit with 6 focal lengths!

    @stonebat I've tried several different wide angle adapters on the 20mm lens, and all produce very bad blurring at the edge. What I've learned is that WA adapters are lens specific. They are optimized for one lens, and eveything else is going to be degraded to some degree. I know this doesn't help much. Hopefully there's an adapter out there that works well with the 20mm. I just haven't found it.

    @shian I'm adamant about 70% focal length increment from a waist up portrait lens to a head portrait lens. e.g. 30mm * 1.7 = 51mm which is close to 50mm. 50mm * 0.6 = 30mm. So I'm looking for 0.6x converter. Yes I would like to see compression (or decompression???) on the Nikkor nifty fifty. It's one of few old designed vintage lenses that are still being manufactured.

    @Roberto I'm not a fan of ETC, but that's an interesting idea.

    @Ralph_B I see. Currently I'm happy with 14mm 2.5 and 20mm 1.7. There's DMW-GWC1 available.

    I have the Olympus 14-35mm F2.0 but need something a bit wider, so I have the options of...

    1) Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 ( - only 11mm/ + a real lens)

    2) 0.65x 77mm wide angle adapter ( + 14x0.65=9mm/ - optical quality???)

    The adapters are a (small) bit cheaper than the Tokina, but image quality is more important. Sample pics/vids would be awesome. (I had a look on the web, but didn't find any real test with large sensor cameras.)

    @HillTop1 thats what I thought - but before ordering one, I want to make sure ;-)

    I tried the Olympus 7-14mm, extrem wide but way to slow with its F4.0. So the 14-35mm with adapter would be a 9mm F2.x - just what I need.

    The lens has a huge front element at 14mm. You'd get noticeable vignetting.

    Another use of 0.6x converter.

    x14-42, Leica DG 25mm 1.4, and Nokton 58mm 1.4 SL II N give very similar color tone/contrast. Apply 0.6x on the 58mm. There goes a set of 14-42/25/35/58 focal lengths.

    Both Ai-s 50.4 and Nokton 58.4 have F-mount. Darn... I gotta find the magical 0.6x converter!!! Maybe Diablo III must have such magical item!!!!

    @stonebat thats why I was looking at the big adapters with 77mm/82mm filter threat and a glas element that is not smaller than the huge front lens of the Olympus. The only thing I read on the internet is, that many wide angle adapters have a (light) brighness fall off from center to corner.

    I don't think it's large enough...

    See how large DMW-GWC1 is compared to the front element of 14mm 2.5.

    Another example. Nobody found a wide angle converter for Nokton 25mm 0.95 which has a large front element.

    Thats strange, as one of the bigger RedEye adaptors should easily be big enough for the Nokton (its no different from a fader ND in size and thickness).
