GoPoo in 2025 & 2026
  • News from the GoPro investor call:

    • New GP3 SOC processor has been developed.
    • MAX2 will launch later this year (with GP3 chip I guess).
    • Old "MAX" will be re-released later in february as a budget 360 option.
    • Unlikely to be a Hero14 with GP3 this year?!

As I suspected last year the Max2 release in 2024 was scrapped due to the outdated GP2 SOC (used in Hero10 to Hero13).

The budget Max will get new life with the updated Quick app which uses AI to auto track selected objects in the 360 deg space.

In reality I guess this also means that the new MAX2 is many months away. I did not sound like that it would be any other new products this year besides the new Max2 and the re-released Max as a budget option. So a Hero14 with the new GP3 processor might be pushed to 2026. Woodman refused to give any specific details on the GP3/Hero14 implementation due to competitors, but the general message was that 2026 would bring several new cameras. BTW: GoPro is not making a profit and a lot has been done to cut cost, including a reduction of the work force. This might slow down development of new products IMO. GoPro was not profitable in 2024 and will not be in 2025 according to the forecast.

  • In the strangest move ever GoPoo has re-released the Max after the channel inventory was cleared a couple of years ago. Basically, the Max2 is unlikely to hit us anytime soon.
