  • @MisterBink see the other quantum 9 thread.

  • @driftwood is there any update available for canis patch which include 2k mjpeg with canis night and canis pm??? canis night is the best for 1080p so that if it gets 2k mjpeg those setting will also shine well,...

  • There's a Crossfire setting which includes Intra (GOP1) Canis Majoris/Night matrix on 24p and HBR plus 2k plus 720p 12/15 GOP from Cluster v4 over on the other thread.

  • Shot on Night, graded with ColorGHears.

  • Shot with crossfire Var 1 using 14-42 kit lens ISO 640 F16 Film speed at 50.

  • @driftwood Canis Majoris Night spans upto 192mbit for me. is it normal sir?? Video Bitrate 24H=192000000 Video Bitrate 24L=112000000 Video Bitrate FSH/SH=104000000 Video Bitrate FH/H=72000000 all these works, for me well and good. how can i find its advantage and disadvantage sir??? only mjpeg mode failed. it failed even in default canis majoris for me. does it has any advantage keeping bitrate over 190??

  • @driftwood crossed previous one testing something even higher sir. it spans too. Video Bitrate 24H=192000000 Video Bitrate 24L=120000000 Video Bitrate FSH/SH=112000000 Video Bitrate FH/H=80000000 on canis majoris night - all mode works without any error. using panny lenses. i named it canis majoris night hb(high bitrate).

  • Nice crossfire matchup, however, notice the actual video bitrate for 24p is still only peaking at around 150M. You can enter 220M in video bitrate if one chooses to but only 150M is required to reach physical frame limit anything over my setting will fail.

  • Cluster v5 12/15 GOP will be out tonight. Cluster v5 is highly recommended for documentary makers and event specialists requiring high bitrate/very hi quality recordings but still well within the grasp of most SD cards.

Here's a few scenes from Cluster 5's 24p setting from a test event today. Today's footage just 'killed' two camera ops working on Sony EX3s and EX1s. They were stunned at the quality.

  • @driftwood cluster v5 is amazing sir

  • @driftwood what u said is 100% correct sir. i kept it back to 176. but i found a little improvement with others so i kept them all up.Video Bitrate 24H=176000000 Video Bitrate 24L=112000000 Video Bitrate FSH/SH=104000000 Video Bitrate FH/H=72000000.its working good.

  • Good stuff. Pleased youre happy. Feel free to experiment with ANY of my settings. I'm not precious about them.

  • @rajamalik Holy smokes! Canis settings are freakin amazing! Can't believe I never checked them out! Great job @driftwood !

  • @DeShonDixon They are pretty rocking. :) I am looking forward to getting to when Joanna puts up the music video we shot for her in Canis Majoris Night (and with a Red Scarlet and a couple shots with a Canon HV30).

  • @DeshonDixon use canis night for all. if u have 2 gh2 take canis night + canis sst. night for wide mid shts sst for close ups. all the best!!

  • @thepalalis @rajamalik yeah thanks guys Canis is amazing! I should of took the time to give it more though earlier!

  • Made with mysteron burst. Also if someone could also give me some tips on handling flare and veiling flare from canon fd 50mm 1.4?

  • @spaceandtime I am on my mobile phone, so I have not watched the video. But here are tips about flare and veiling on a nifty-fifty lens.

    1) Remove all filters. That is right, ALL of them. Even a UV can often exacerbate these issues. Now, it is up to you if you think this is worth it.

    2) This more for veiling than flares, but shoot with a hood or a mattebox and keep the light source out of frame. Me, I do not get to much out of that because I am often trying to include flares.

    3) Stop down a bit. Fast lenses are typically the most vulnerable to flare and veiling when shooting wide open. On my Rokkor 58mm f/1.4, going from 1.4 to 2.0 or 2.8 helps a lot.

    4) Angles and placement. Setup the shot so that either something is blocking the light source (a tree, etc.) or it less directly affects your shot.

Other than that, I am afraid I do not have too much to offer. Some lenses are much better than this than others, but in many cases the only solution is preparation.

  • Hi guys. I'm trying to decide on what patch to use on my next short film and I'd really like your thoughts about going with Driftwood's latest Cluster v5, FM 2.02 or going higher with Crossfire or Sedna AQ1. (I will test myself also, so some tips about the right way to do a fair test will help) I have a bunch of Sandisk Extreme 30mbps cards and would like to get the best possible quality, but with incam playback and avoiding constant crashes. Thanks in advance and keep with that great job.

  • @Flaaandeeers Are you shooting in 24p? As Cluster v5 (and v4) targets Q16 and stays there pretty much. The setting will utilise high bitrate upto 90+M if needed on high detail scenery and average around 60+M on most other scenery. Try them out and test side by side against other users settings if you prefer (on Streameye or Streamparser) and see which you like the most.

  • Thanks Nick! Yes, 24p only. I'll test Cluster then and let you know my impressions.

  • Hey guys. I recently made a video with a mix of Canis night and Sedna AQ1. So far, I can't decide on which is better. I just love the images they make. Here I pushed the coloring as far as I could in Apple color. Some I was able to push very far, some very little. I can't remember which shots are which because I was switching between different cameras every time. So check it out and I hope you like it.

  • Just used CM night at mostly iso 320 with canon 50mm f1.2 @ f1.2, superb really

  • is it better to shoot with the iso at 320 instead of 160? I noticed that the zacuto test the gh2 was set up for 320 iso.
