M6 Sports Settings [gop 2]

  • Thank god i have again Internet...........................

Bad thing is, i was gone thru my back, and there was a a ambulance needed to get me off the floor.
Still hurts like hell, but things are getting already better again..

I have updated the Sports settings.
And have only focus on 720 PAL with gop 2
there are 10 settings now, from a to j.
The change sits in the gop related table, i think there is a lot to win.
But its sooooo time consuming with testing, because the differences are small.

HBR, 50i and 24p are stil in gop1, its seams to works best with these settings.
The Bitrate go's up To 100mb/s...
I spend a lot off time on hbr and 50i, but i cant say that there are differences, to be honest, 50i looks just better...

    Back to 720p, why gop2?
Well i do like @driftwoods 720 gop1 PAL patches, only it stops recording when there is a lot of nice detail. and most off the time the batteries have to be removed, so lost is that shot.
Sports is practically completely based on @driftwoods work, all credits for him...
Gop2 can stop sometime recording, but the file will be saved..........
attached a screen-shot with the different gop related setting for each from a to j and with the bitrates that you can expect from it.
Notice that setting A uses the default pana setting, and give the lowest overall bitrate, but a very nice image, i think a good setting when there is a lot off bright light and sharp contrast.
Also attached a zip file with results from streamparser's H.264 bitstream all done in tele2 mode with zooming, it was done with setting E.

i have only tested with one lens, its the only one i have.... and its not one off the best.........:-(

In the attached Sports 10 settings you find some pdf files what i did use to keep the progress updated so i didn't forget what setting did what.
and 1 .ods file from open office, so if you use that you can do your own changes and keeps its updated.

I have tested it with all possible settings from the gh2, and all works.
Files can be played back on camera with good sound, even filming and taking pictures ad the same time may not give any problem.

  • Setting A with some small updates...
Just a encoder setting changed, and AQ set all to details...

In the clip (720p 50fps) first clip normal speed, next part extreme slow down with twixtor.
    Its a long slow down...

Orgiginal .mts file, so you can check it.

  • @Kihlian,There is not much different.
Sports is based on driftwood settings.
Its just the 720p witch is in gop2, so the encoder, gop table, frame limit, and the quantizer settings is basically the only differenced.

By the way, thx for testing next to the real patches/settings, i did that never myself, cool to see how it holds up.

  • Raw unedited or corrected screens from 720p gop2 pal.

    cinema -2 -2 0 -2
    iso 160

Before i never liked the cinema profile.
Now i prefer it above vibrant...

I cant believe that i did NOT!!!!! shoot in HBR or 24P ..........................

  • 720, 24p and hbr (Pal) Profile standard, all -2 Auto WB
Ad least that strange color shift between the different modes (720, 24 and hbr) is gone..
Its just the 25p, it keeps having sharp edges, but not constant, thats why there are 2 screen-shots from.

  • A Gop 6 experimental setting.
the still pictures are photo's taken while filming!!!
    colors are pushed in post.

  • Where are the still pictures? I admit I don´t looked until the end because mi internet is slow very SLOW!! The colour grading is very pushed (the colours holds up very well). Now @driftwood will try the GH3 settings on the GH2 will be interesting to see if the 50p all-I works.

  • 03:25
Driftwood did already have some very good 50p all i frame...
    for example Quantum v9c
INTRA 1080i = peaks quality is around 100M
    INTRA 720p50 = peaks around 100M
    720p60 now on GOP2, peaks around 100M.

Or Driftwood 'AQuarius' ver2 INTRA for ptools 3.63d
    Video Bitrate 24H=170000000
    Video Bitrate 24L=154000000
    Video Bitrate FSH/SH=124000000
    Video Bitrate FH/H=100000000
Auto Quantizer for 1080 modes=3 - Most to details
Auto Quantizer for 720 modes=3 - Most to details
    720p50 GOP Size=1
    1080i50 and 1080p24 GOP Size=1
    1080i60 GOP Size=1

here is one picture, the same as you see ad first in the video..

  • Modified Driftwood 'AQuarius' ver2 INTRA
All intra incl 720 pal (NOT for 720 NTSC)

'AQuarius' ver2 is merged with BOOM flat 4s.........
I did not yet a field test, just some indoor shots..........
So far its tested here it did not lock, on some rare moment the card speed was to slow (Sandisk EP 32gb 95mb/s
No need to pull the power, the file will be saved!!!
But it need a lot off testing..

  • @mozes I am sending you a some data from a field test I did of Sports 10 settings A bitrates relative to other settings in 720 60P. So far is the newest variation looking similar in bitrate?

  • Good question .. Latest version all i for 720 is for pal only.... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ntsc is is totaly wrong

It can be fixt in the gop table and encoder setting, but then is the 720p pal not good :(

But HBR is not good...................!! 720p NTSC NOT GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Settings works for PAL ONLY!!!!!!!

  • The updated quantizers did the job.
So who wants to try 720p pal all intra with the cbrandin pure 444 matrix, can give it a go.
24p is also oke, but HBR and 720 NTSC is a NO GO!!!!

  • sorry, but I want to know if I can lower the bit rate of this patch and if I have to make some additional adjustments. I was thinking of a 50mbs. the cases where I use my GH2 with 14-42mm is varied. Please help me, and thanks so much

  • i cant get it stable with a bitrate around 50mb/s
But if you use the default scaling tables, the bitrate drops to around the 25/35 mb/s.....

  • where are the scaling tables, i don't know how can do that, if you can I suggest a stable bit rate that is close to 50mbs, whether a little more or a little less

  • ptools
    Patches for testers
    and then the scaling tables
bitrate will be lower, but if it will be stable????
On the other hand, if you dont now how ptools works.
you perhaps better dont mess with it
    And try this setting
Its sports with Boom 2 scaling tables, and cluster 4 deblocking tables
    Its around 60mb............
