What do we know about the novel coronavirus?

  • The masks are more for the protection of other people than oneself, the US surgeon general has clarified. Wearing a cloth face covering will help contain you coughs and sneezes, reducing chances that you’ll spray infectious droplets into the air, and risk transmitting the disease the others.

Still “maintaining six feet of social distancing remains key”, he said. Masks are “not a replacement for social distancing”

    Here we go again.

My personal opinion is that not being able (and even declaring as not wanting!) to provide proper masks to people and instead stopping economy can be considered as treason.

Trump says he is directing the Federal Emergency Management Agency to prevent the export of N95 masks under the Defense Production Act.

Funniest fact is that lot of people had been against this.

  • UK.

Equipment shortages within England’s health service are such that one NHS trust has had to put out a call for donations on social media.

And this is also treason and organized genocide.

Shortage of equipment is not solved by donations. it is solved by organizing production, delivery and if you so need money for being calm get 1% from banks and corporations bailout packages. All companies who start to bargain or try to play on this must be nationalized and their top management executed.

  • This is some scary shxt.... https://www.rt.com/op-ed/484832-disabled-covid-doctors-treatment/ ....and @Vitaliy....Ortega is a pos and has led Nicaragua down the toilet. You can pretty well guess that when the presidents wife is the vice president, it's a dictatorship. You can't trust the numbers. There's no socialism to it. And speaking of toilets.... https://www.forbes.com/sites/alexandrasternlicht/2020/04/02/why-you-should-flush-with-the-lid-down-virologist-warns-of-fecal-oral-transmission-of-covid-19/#7d081926eb8b

  • @kurth

Ortega is a pos and has led Nicaragua down the toilet. There's no socialism to it.

    Let's people decide :-)

Issue of many not US friendly countries is that they are afraid that US and may be China re making such controlled dive to exactly kill economy of many outlaws (and notice that US and China are doing - they are filling their oil reserves at record rate and lowest prices). US can be in bad shape after it, but survive.

Right now US is cleraly after Venezuela as they prepare military forces. And may be later Iran if things will be worse.

  • Comparing Covid-19 to flu does not belittle the severity of Covid-19. It shows that flu is deadly and precautions should be taken with flu as well. There is some evidence that there are multiple strains of Covid-19 and has been around for many years, just that no one was tested for it before. Stateside, people were too busy nitpicking about numbers out of China and speed of the China response, than preparing for outbreak. If the data is correct that there were multiple strains and Covid-19 was already spreading early in 2019 in the US and Italy, even a total lockdown in China might not have made much difference.

During 911, some expert compared the chances of being a victim of terrorism to the chances of being hit by a flying tire! Absurd, maybe. But comparing things put things in perspective, and may help us to not be consumed by fear and panic.

It’s funny people stopped dying of other reasons after Covid19 struck...Like cancer, heart attack, old age, for eg......

Here Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and a member of the White House Coronavirus Taskforce and doctors from the CDC, compare Covid-19 to flu, SARS and MERS :

    Anthony S. Fauci, M.D., H. Clifford Lane, M.D., and Robert R. Redfield, M.D.:

On the basis of a case definition requiring a diagnosis of pneumonia, the currently reported case fatality rate is approximately 2%. In another article in the Journal, Guan et al. report mortality of 1.4% among 1099 patients with laboratory-confirmed Covid-19; these patients had a wide spectrum of disease severity. If one assumes that the number of asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic cases is several times as high as the number of reported cases, the case fatality rate may be considerably less than 1%.

This suggests that the overall clinical consequences of Covid-19 may ultimately be more akin to those of a severe seasonal influenza (which has a case fatality rate of approximately 0.1%) or a pandemic influenza (similar to those in 1957 and 1968) rather than a disease similar to SARS or MERS, which have had case fatality rates of 9 to 10% and 36%, respectively.

  • @jleo ...well..there you go...so you don't know the difference between hydroxychloroquine and fishtank cleaner? Honest mistake, really...if you want to win a darwin award. Most people will. And the dr li wen point is ? I believe most people think he was a hero. Proves my point that it's better to er on being careful rather than being apathetic. The truth is we don't know what happened in china. If there's any real conspiracy, it was there. And where's any evidence corona's been around for years? ...or even since early 2019 in the US and Italy ? Frankly that's an absurd idea, because it's so highly contagious it would have produced just what it produced this time around. Do you have a link to a scientific article ? Corona has produced 8 strains so far. It mutates very fast, but very little with each mutation, so all strains are having the same consequences, causing more or less the same symptoms. They reverse measure the spontaneous mutation rates. I believe they're coming up with november. If it had been around ...like in nursing homes for a year, you don't think caretaker morality would have alerted people ? I countered your posts because they were so limited and focused on one incorrect analogy. I'm trying to inform people of all kinds of information I come across. Some I even disagree with, like the videos of empty emergency rooms attempting to prove it's all a lie. And 911... if you were working in the towers the odds were alot higher....since it wasn't a random event, nor even a terrorist event. It was a controlled and targeted falseflag event. There was no randomness nor chaos theory involved. And I just posted my view on the deathrate. Everyone is welcome to have their own theory. We don't know how many people are infected nor whether we can even realistically call an asymptomatic carrier ...infected. In fact we know almost nothing statistically about this pandemic. What we do know is medical staff are scared, infecting and dying, even when they'll be the most protected among us. Doctors are dying in Mexico already. It's not the flu. Every anecdotal story from survivors I've read has said the same thing. And the USa govt will be the last place I'll go for truth.

  • @Vitaliy...I didn't say Chavez was a pos, not even Maduro, although he's not 10% as smart. People aren't allowed to decide in nicaragua. That's the point. Of course the war machine wants venezuela's ass, and iran's as well, but for separate reasons. Venezuela, because of the monroe doctrine, and Iran because they made fools out of cia. But all we have to do is watch what happens in nicaragua, compared to el salvador. It won't be pretty, but it will be illuminating. Ortega won't survive. ps...I was in nicaragua 89 ...and 90, when they lost the election. It was a different place, and ortega was still part of a movement, not a little dictator. Now do I really believe him and Maduro are pablo escobar wannabees ? I haven't cared enough to want to know, but the drug business might be their perfect solution, where they continue to have dollars flowing and attack america at the same time with the same tool. Sounds logical.

  • see....even the elites are scared shitless....henry kissinger on corona.... https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-coronavirus-pandemic-will-forever-alter-the-world-order-11585953005

  • @kurth

I haven't cared enough to want to know, but the drug business might be their perfect solution, where they continue to have dollars flowing and attack america at the same time with the same tool. Sounds logical.

Well, let's just leave this at this point. We can't go lower anyways.

  • The War on Masks

Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau has warned Donald Trump that his decision to stop a US manufacturing company from sending respirators to Canada could prompt retaliatory measures.

The Trump administration ordered 3M, a Minnesota-based manufacturer of protective healthcare equipment, to stop exporting protective masks to Canada and Latin America on Thursday.

Mr Trudeau said medical equipment “goes both ways across the border,” and noted that thousands of nurses travel from Canada to work in Detroit every day.

The US has been accused of redirecting 200,000 Germany-bound masks for its own use, in a move condemned as "modern piracy".

The local government in Berlin said the shipment of US-made masks was "confiscated" in Bangkok. The FFP2 masks, which were ordered by Berlin's police force, did not reach their destination, it said. Andreas Geisel, Berlin's interior minister, said the masks were presumably diverted to the US.

The US ordered 3M US to stop exporting facemasks to Canada/LatAm. 3M said NO.

    https://news.3m.com/press-release/company-english/3m-response-defense-production-act-order

The more specific reason why 3M said NO:

Canada and LatAm control large portion of paper product exports to US. Specifically, the ACTUAL filter material in N95 facemasks are produced by Canada. If US had imposed an export ban of facemasks to Canada, Canada would have retaliated by banning export of paper product to US that would cut off supply of component material for facemask production in US.
  • @jleo

This "war" tells more about talents of current managers than about anything else.

None of them did anything proper to organize manufacturing, and instead wait for free market to solve the issue. And as solution still is absent they try such things.

  • Some rumors I got from talks.

US military are living like it is no coronavirus on foreign bases. Only limit is on outside contacts.

US can use massively small power nuclear weapons during Venezuela invation. They also planned very big number of civil casualities. EU will join US with few ships and lot of bombers.

US also slowly shipping big amount of small power nuclear weapons near Iran. Coronavirus propaganda peak must coinside with strike on Iran. But EU still ius going mostly against US here.

Getting Venezuela energy alone will perfectly fully payback for present economic stop.

  • Is it just to manage Covid-19 pandemic ? or as speculation in right wing American media says: War is coming, they don't want U.S. victims/hostages on foreign soil...

Coronavirus: Americans abroad must return to US ‘immediately’, Pompeo says

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo urged Americans abroad who still wish to return to the United States to do so “immediately,” saying commercial and government-chartered flights could soon cease amid the coronavirus outbreak.

“We don’t know how long commercial flights will ... operate,” Mr Pompeo said Tuesday, adding it is not a sure thing that flights being chartered by the US government specifically for Americans to return home due to COVID-19 fears will be available in some countries.

Donald Trump’s top diplomat urged any Americans abroad who want to get back to US soil to contact the American embassy in the country where they currently are to begin making plans “immediately” to get a flight back to the States.

Pentagon orders essential staffers to deep underground Cold War bunker as COVID-19 pandemic broadens across U.S.

“To ensure that we can defend the homeland despite this pandemic, our command and control watch teams here in the headquarters split into multiple shifts and portions of our watch team began working from Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station, creating a third team at an alternate location as well,” O’Shaughnessy said.

Trump activates one million military reservists

EO to Order the Selected Reserve and Certain Members of the Individual Ready Reserve of the Armed Forces to Active Duty

  • According to estimates from the National Nosocomial Infections Surveillance (NNIS) system, in 2002, approximately 1.7 million cases of HAIs and 99,000 associated deaths occurred in U.S. hospitals.

No one locked economy down, and not much bothered at all here.

Even today coronavirus spreading is strongest in hospitals.

Even in Italy we can have testing and inspection teams visiting large concentration of old and ill people as main instrument of spreading virus.

  • @jleo

Virus can be used as pretense for EU and US military ramping using reservists. They will tell that it is required to fight virus, and after thsi narrative will change fast.

  • Only 1% of people who died in Italy while having coronavirus detected did not have at least one strong chronic decease.

  • None of them did anything proper to organize manufacturing

    Central planning? Sounds Un-american :)

Trump: "Here, in the United States, we are alarmed by new calls to adopt socialism in our country," the president said. "America was founded on liberty and independence - not government coercion, domination, and control. We are born free, and we will stay free." "Tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country,"

FEMA looks very organized this time.

  • Why they are pushing ventilators so much?

32 patients required invasive mechanical ventilation, of whom 31 (97%) died

    https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-67362030566-3/fulltext

  • @jleo

It has nothing to do with socialism type planning.

I suggest you to read that US did during WWII. Or UK.

Even China actions this time had been pretty far from socialism.

  • This is one thread like no other... We want to be able to saying something even after all of this passes away...

  • Do i have to praise you Vitaliy for your site i guess you don't need this.
