Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has abandoned the WhatsApp messenger due to a change in privacy policy.
Due to security concerns, the Turkish presidential administration will transfer its groups, which were previously created in WhatsApp, to the BiP application, owned by Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleri AS. Erdogan's office also called on journalists to switch to BiP in a statement.
The Turkish Defense Ministry also followed the example of the head of state. The move was part of Erdogan's massive campaign against foreign social networks, the agency said.
According to Turkcell, about a million new users from Turkey have joined BiP Messenger over the past 24 hours.
It is expected that in next two months US social networks and messengers will loose up to 100 million active users.
WhatsApp is finished. Yesterday most of my friends in India dropped it. India is the largest base of WhatsApp users
