Right now Comica and Rode wireless go have the same price on Amazon Italy. I have used only the Sennheiser pro kit. Which one is better at the same price?
I have both.
I use the comica regularly in a dual mic setup, like two people talking. They are great, very reliable.
If I am recording one person though it will be using the Rode as for me the sound quality is better. Rode seems to add some sort of Compressor which just works. Comica sounds a little flat straight to camera.
The comica as well allows you to adjust dB by 12 levels. This for me is overkill and can be fiddly to set the right level.
Rode just has three levels which are super quick to flick through
@sph1nxster Thanks I will go for it. I didn't notice that at the same price Rode doesnt have the mic. From online review I heard the Rode has a deeper sound.
D2 test
@sph1nxster i have problem with Rode clipping on weddings when people are speek louder or music playing. Are this mics better in this ?
If you are not monitoring sound you can just use http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/24762/zoom-f2-small-recorder-superb-32bit-beast#Item_17
It won't clip, never ever (with any lav microphone).
I know the Zoom F2 and i think about. But in run' and gun is a pain syncronize all in post. Maybe the LUMIX S1 recieve timecode and that works with the F2 ?
Actually not, as F2 has temp compensated oscillator.
Check the F2 topic, it has Bluetooth version and app to sync all recorders. In your NLE it'll all align instantly.
Ok, you can sync all Zoom recorders, but how you sync with your main btw. b-cam. over scratch audio ?
Strong and very short beeper :-) Works as clapper board, just very small.
Maybe in church is ok, but hole day on every stand. And synchronize with pluraleyes sometimes fails, depending on situation.. You know if Comica BoomX clips earlyer ? F2 with wlan connection where a perfect match...
I don't really get the point, as wireless system is no different.
You need it if you have people who monitor audio.
And it clips as any usual recorder.
With a wireless system i have audio direct on the clip, without syncronize. At the moment i send 2 mono signal to the camera, 1 from Rode Go, 1 from a Rode Mic, so when the Go clips i have a backup. ) But sometimes is a pity when the Go had a better audio, but is clipped.
Got it, so you are monitoring this two channels.
I though you have more channels.
Issue with wireless thing and connection to camera - they are unreliable for small team and everyday life (if you don't have backup recording on other end).
You can try to get F2 model for outside US with enabled output (thanks to Zaxcom patent in US it is disabled).
Or get small Tascam recorder that we use for all exhibitions (reliability is around 99%), we use double level recording to minimize clipping (but sometimes advanced editing to remove small clipping at peaks). They have EU model that can be also connected to wireless.
Also look at Deity they have system with internal recorder as I remember.
Thank you !
