I have another, optimistic version of things going on.
What if bureaucracy had been given too much slack by procrastinating ruling class?
And they kept degrading and degrading, spreading and spreading, building their loved "safe society". Never doing anything hard, but replacing it all with nice PR.
An suddenly this machine saw quickly approaching natural (or artificial :-) ) wall. Problem they need to solve fast and efficient using their "talents".
What if we now in reality saw moment as bureaucracy jumped out of the car and we just not realizing it?
What if we are waiting for driver long gone to do something useful?
And situation instead require people to get the wheel in their hands to solve the problem and after this turn around and drive over this abortion shit that jumped out.
P.S. of course it is very low probability version, but most optimistic I have for now.
If we think back to immemorial times there were small groups of people trying to survive. They were very connected with nature from where they feed and made shelter but they didn't understand the phenomenons around them and so they made all kinds of fairytale about it. At some point they realized that some of them are wiser and some dumber and so when they have a problem they go to the waiser to ask for advice and when the advice was good they came back with offerings. Later the wise realised that tey are very good storytellers and can live very comfortable from offerings so now already the religion and the cast of priests was born and it spreads like a cancer all over. First came the desire for wealth and riches ho transformed to desire for power and so we are in these times when the ruling class thinks about itself to be immortal god's. They are already blinded by this lust for power and the highest they are the bigger the fall. The cause and effect.
You write DIY version of classes forming. :-)
Bureaucracy is not class, it is interesting thing that formed to manage very complex present system. But they always follow orders of ruling class.
.....obviously anthropology wasn't on anyone's reading list. I'd start with the golden bough...the 13 volume version.
