Some patients who recovered from Covid-19 have suffered reduced lung function and now experience problems such as gasping for air when walking quickly, Hong Kong’s Hospital Authority has revealed.

The authority released its findings on Thursday after observing the first group of discharged coronavirus patients. The city has so far recorded 131 confirmed cases of Covid-19, including three fatalities. Of them, 74 patients have been discharged while one probable coronavirus case has also recovered.

Dr Owen Tsang Tak-yin, medical director of the authority’s Infectious Disease Centre at Princess Margaret Hospital in Kwai Chung, said doctors had already seen around a dozen discharged patients in follow-up appointments. Two to three were unable to do things as they had in the past.

“They gasp if they walk a bit more quickly,” Tsang told a media briefing on Thursday. “Some patients might have around a drop of 20 to 30 per cent in lung function [after recovery].”

Here in Spain, we are now really locked up two days ago. This video seemed very interesting to me. She is a doctor from Euskadi (the Basque Country), a region in the north of the country. She explains the facts of the coronavirus, and its spread, to an audience of ordinary people in a non-technical approach. But above all, he talks about the spread of fear and how to deal with it, and the importance of social responsability and the critical thinking. It's in spanish but you can turn on english subtitles.

Well @Kurth as you said "she puts doubt on whether the virus will be as bad in spain as china" because there are fewer people in Spain than in Wuhan. Simple. ;) The problem we are facing here, and that is whats she is talking about, is that most dangerous than the virus is the absence of equipment and personel in the hospitals because the cutoffs from past years. While, we will never get back the money that the public system lended to the banks.

It's good that paranoia works for you, I meant it. I prefer another methods and I hope that this coronavirus stuff helps us, a little at most, to recover our public care system, threatened since 2008 by the pirates of health companies from the other side of the Atlantic Ocean and their partners from here. <3

Today the President and Ministers showed up on TV asking for people and companies to give to the goverment forces the equipment they have stockpiled, giving them two days for do it. But they forgot to tell us, the viewers, what will they do to adquire thouse items after those two days are gone. Oh, and the private hospitals are throwing to the public hospitals all coronavirus cases. The insurance companies do not address the problem too.

Meanwhile the expresidents, their families and other rich people that have "second vacation home" travel from Madrid (where most coronavirus cases were arised) to the beach to take a 15 days holidays. One of them, a former right wing woman minister, came here, to this small coast town, just to fall sick with positive covid-19 results. The far-right second in command travel to Milan last week for few days tour. Now he is in quarantine, with positive in coronavirus too, after spreading it to his coleagues in various public meetings. He did blame the goverment for alowing those meetings.

We have now a mixed goverment of socialists and pseudo comunists (guys, here socialism and comunism are not words to scare people) and they are powerless to make real changes. Maybe they can't, maybe they don't want it, because one day they will be in the big companies boards, as usual, as those companies are, as you said, the real owners of the country and their commanders.

But, hey, we have a Royal Family here! (A lot of jokes this days about "Corona" (Crown) virus).
