Latest project for fun.
GH5, Vlogl, Voigtlander 17.5 and 42.5mm
FW Update is coming for GH5 & GH5s. Seems to incorporate C-AF fixes for video mode as well as some additional enhancements for video. Also some updates for photo features. But still unclear if GH5 will get higher frame rates and high res mode.

May 2018 -- Panasonic is announcing exciting new firmware updates for three LUMIX models -- the DC-GH5, DC-GH5S and the DC-G9. These updates offer users enhanced performance and usability, such as improved Autofocus performance, new monochrome Photo Styles and upgraded sound quality for video shooting.
LUMIX DC-GH5 -- Firmware Version 2.3
- Improved AF performance -- increased tracking AF performance, allowing users to easily follow their subject while recording movies
- L. Monochrome D & Grain effect -- The new L. Monochrome D captures even darker tones and greater contrast, with grain effects available in different strengths for all monochrome settings -- a fantastic addition to the many black and white options of LUMIX cameras
- Live View Boost -- viewfinder screen and LCD monitor can be displayed brighter than the image recorded, allowing users to check the composition in low-light environments and helping to frame their perfect shot
- MF Assist -- more accurate manual focusing for stills or moving images, thanks to up to 20x magnification available in MF Assist mode
- Night Mode -- camera screen displays all information in red, so photographers and subjects are not disturbed by white light emission
- Like 709 & V-LogL improvements -- Like 709, V-LogL* and V-LogL* View Assist in Photo Style can now be used for still photo shooting and time lapse video. [LUT Monitor Display] and [LUT HDMI Display] can be used in playback mode to check the appearance.
- Enhanced sound quality -- sound quality has been improved by optimising the performance of the internal noise cancelling microphone
- Improved AF performance -- the autofocus for lowlight and low-contrast photo shooting has been improved

- Enhanced sound quality -- sound quality has been improved by optimising the performance of the internal noise cancelling microphone
- Better Control of Video Settings -- Vector Scope can be displayed on the screen while adjusting white balance
- Improved AF performance -- enhanced tracking AF performance allowing users to easily follow their subject while recording movies

But - NO FIX FOR THE MASSIVE VFR above 60fps HORIZONTAL NOISE problem on the GH5S? https://www.facebook.com/groups/pansonicgh5/permalink/1849240912042275/
Check very nice cage for GH5
I'm happy that they are updating things like AF and adding some extra features, but still could use some major overhauling of the display layout such as moving the LUT / V-log icon from the center of the screen. They really could shrink and move most icons and settings to the black borders and give a nice clean image in the center.
Here's a few lion dance videos that I took a few days ago. It was a lion and dragon dance competition. I took videos of all performances. Lots more on my channel and still uploading videos. The settings: 4K 60p, ISO of 400, shutter of 60 and an Aperture that was around f/5 more or less. Also used the standard auto focusing. Would have tried to use the tracking auto focusing if the firmware was available during that time. The lens used was the Leica 12-60mm.
Hopefully some technical minded person will be able to answer this.
Is it possible for AF to be introduced to variable frame rate mode in a future firmware? Is the problem that the AF too specifically tied to the frame rate readout and would require custom implementation for each available frame rate? Or is the issue that AF at higher framerates would require more processing power than the GH5 can reliably give ?
I recently got the Panasonic 100-300mm and AF is invaluable, just a pity it's limited to 50p for nature and wildlife.
Seems that Panasonic read specific contrast AF pixels at certain rate.
So it can be both technically hard or it can be laziness, I personally think it is second option.
management did not set such task and hired (very skilled!) developers can't do it by themselves.
@Vitaliy_Kiselev thanks for the info, perhaps some day , but not holding my breath haha.

Manual Focus lock is nice, I wish we would have the option (like the Fuji's now have) to stop the ramping in speed on the focus-by-wire. A nice update for all cameras.
