Another photo transformation algorithm

I remember there used to be some kind of personal project about 4-5 years ago (and I believe it was from one of the forum members here, or possibly be from dpreview, I'm not sure...) that achieve something similar (this was limited to color adjustments) by using MathLab. It was a very beefed install (ML was included) and not incredibly fast, yet the results were surprising. The author at the time considered porting it to AE/Premiere but lacked the programming skills, Since then I lost track of it. I would appreciate links of similar software from anyone that uses this kind of SW be it either for photos or video. Thanks.
