lots of canon apsc dslr low budget guys only use the 18-55mm kit lens and a cheap 50mm 1.8

Thanks for that reminder. Personally, I'm on another one of those simplicity crusades. Trying to carry around a street shooter Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II with a Summilux 25mm - kept in Intelligent-Auto mode for now.
I know a guy who earned the nickname, "tripod."
Another advantage to my current single status is I can keep my lenses on view in the living room. In a week I'll have them in a wall-mounted, glass-fronted case, labelled as if in a camera store.
Once the lenses are dust-proofed I don't see why hiding them in their zipper bags can help me decide which to use - and possibly identify those which really are superfluous and could be sold.
