Nikon D7200 performs exceptionally well, with a 24mp APS-C sensor with no OLPF, which will give high resolution images with excellent levels of detail. However, this is something many other DSLRs now offer, including Nikon's own entry level D3300, and D5500. One thing unique about the new D7200 is the extended ISO modes, with the camera shooting color at up to and including ISO25600, and then offering black and white shooting at ISO51200 and ISO102400.
The performance of this digital SLR is great except for metering. While this is correctable with careful use of EC, it can be a serious annoyance for some.
D7200 is targeted at photo enthusiasts who want the benefits a DX-crop sensor can provide. Essentially, it offers the same advantages as the earlier camera. Photographers looking for a 'full-frame' (FX) model with similar functions and capabilities will choose the slightly pricier D610.

I had high hopes for the D7200. It is not all it could be. I will keep my D5300 or get a D750.
There was a rumor that a FullFrame MirrorLess Nikon is on the horizon. Perhaps, but nothing about that has come out and I am not sure if I can wait forever for the camera that blows the A7s away, because the A7s II or A9s will be out by then.

@zcream I don't have a D7200, but according to the specs here you can do that: https://www.atomos.com/cameras/nikon-d7200
@zcream - I totally agree with you, since in the digital age the constraints on specs are not always clear, and one needs to actually verify the claim / expectation.
So I digged a bit deeper, and this may help you further (via dpreview's d7200 user who corroborated with this camera manual's entry): http://i.imgur.com/jIUUHm0.png
