@alcomposer Panasonic hates the environment.
I'm sure it's not that bad for environment. Just strange, and why is it taking time and effort to print codes.
I believe that you may have to reactivate V-Log if there is every another firmware version. So maybe they figured sending a physical card would be better the way people change emails these days. Just a hunch and I'm probably wrong, since firmware upgrades don't erase user presets, but it's possible the implementation stores it somewhere else.
Maybe in distant future the code card will be collectors item. Remember guys keep them safe!
"Son, see this card. This was the last product Panasonic ever sold."
Yep son, this card is from the times I could just go out and shoot.
Now before each shoot you need to activate "rent mode" and it counts cost by milliseconds, it also calculate amount charged for image processing, so most people now can not afford to use EVF (very costly) or even preview on LCD screen. We are back in old good days. And remember - AF rending is also expensive, so most use old good manual focusing now.
That escalated quickly.
"8-Bit internal record - You really get a much cleaner image if you overexposure by about 2 stops in general. Protect your mid-tones and forget the highlights. 10-Bit HDMI out only - You can get away with a little more under, but I like the tone on keeping fairly hot." James Miller
^^^^ meh
@shian whaaat? No love for those dusty instagrammy blacks, bro? ;-P
I wanted to see if the ungraded V-log L images from the last half of James Miller's video, which he stated were 2-stops overexposed, would grade okay. Hope James doesn't sue me.
FilmVision Pro Motion Picture Algorithm Editing (Panasonic GH4 VLOG-L):
(Sorry, forgot to change my 24fps render settings to 25fps for this video).
It looks like a physical card with physical shipment

How good is Panasonic at shipping physical products? Here are some customer reviews: http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Panasonic
I wonder if you can use V-Log with iDynamic to try and retain more highlight detail?
Sorry to go slightly off topic but does anyone know where I can download firmware 2.2 as this is no longer on Panasonics site.
I posted it a couple of days ago, page 19

@discomandavis - Thanks for that really appreciated.
I agree with Shian that the Official V-LOG LUT provided by Panasonic is too pink. It is easy to see in the 2nd clip here which has the LUT applied without further adjustments. The work around of course is to pull out some magenta/red to taste or use another LUT. Several labeled clips here have Koji Cineon LOG applied which works out nicely. Can someone please tell me where I can download the basic Cineon to REC 709 3D LUT?
some people have managed to get v-log for nothing, not saying it's right but after all the effort Panasonic have made to make it hack free.......
@ade4all Link, please?
I deleted my post.
