Duet Display to attach iPad as second screen

Software that allows to connect any iPad as second screen to Mac or Windows (main purpose is that iPads are very accurately calibrated usually).
$10 today

I've used duet with my 2012 MacBook Pro and it works well for normal tasks but completely falls apart under the pressure of editing in Premiere. Just too much for the graphics card to keep up with.
I imagine it might work better on a newer MacBook or Windows PC.
