The one we've been bloody waiting for! Now when can I preorder
I will have to sell my GH4 to afford this lens. That won't be very productive.
Mmm. I think GH4 with all four Voigtländers is very interesting for video production. It will certainly give a consistent look to your footage.
I've always liked those lenses, this one could be a winner.
How much?
WHAT?????
rectilinear?
Damn. If this is useably sharp wide open, it could be a real winner for concert videography (a lot of what I shoot).
Voigtlander makes the only lenses that make me question my decision to go with a Speedbooster + Nikon lenses. This is astounding though... there is really no comparably fast wide angle lens out there.
For a long time we have had no prime rectilinear lens native to the Micro Four Thirds mount with focal distance less than 12mm, but now we can have a choice of at least four: Kowa Prominar 8.5mm f/2.8, SLR Magic HyperPrime Cine 10mm T2.1, Samyang 10mm f/2.8 and Voigtländer Nokton 10.5mm f/0.95. So far I had chance to try just the first two lenses in this list, Kowa and SLR Magic, and my first impression of these two are very positive. More info later...
According to Voigtländer representative at Photokina, the price of Voigtländer 10.5mm f/0.95 should be more-or-less comparable to other Nokton f/0.95 lenses.
Here is how the out-of-focus "bokeh" looks like on Voigtländer Nokton 10.5mm at f/0.95:
@konjow not bad sample photos. Purple fringing is definitely present wide open, but sharpness is about on par with the other Voigtlander f0.95s -- which is to say, a little soft but definitely useable for most people shooting video. Remarkably low distortion. I can't see any sign of either a barrel or a pin cushion effect. Pleasing bokeh, in my opinion.
I'll have to rent one and use it on my GH4 once it's available. I'm thinking this might replace the Tokina 11-16 + speedbooster setup that I'm using for wide angle shots in low light (concerts, mostly).
I'd love to fly this on a gimbal w/ wireless FF at night.
Anybody seeing a filter thread there?
mrbill, looks like one, close to the glass?
@ mrbill
This shot seems to show it on the outermost inner ring:

Such an attractive lens.
Rectilinear! Guys, short ago I have been blown-off of my own vintage Canon FD 17mm when I saw it on friend's FF Sony A7.
Micro 4/3 rectilinear wide prime is truly a great news IMO
How much?
@brianl let us guess... 2K?
I can't remember where I read this, but some source said pricing should be roughly in line with the rest of their MFT line-up -- which is to say, no less than $900, but probably no more than $1300 or so.
Here's a question though: in every single photo, that lens hood is attached. Should we assume that it cannot be removed, as with other ultra-wide lenses like Canon's 14mm? I would very much like to use this lens with a mattebox, but that of course only works if the hood comes off.
the picture with the hand appears to show the hood actually "cocked" on the thread, this would indicate it comes off
Excellent!
