Hey guys, going to be grading my feature film soon which was shot on the BMCC in prores 1080p. My computer setup is a Dt5500 with a Nivada 5000 card. Grading with colorista 2/resolve with editing using Perimere CC. I don't have the cash for a proper 10bit pro monitor so i was looking into something like this http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/963178-REG/dell_469_4030_24_ultrasharp_u2413.html Any good? Or are there better ones out there with a similar price tag. Before you ask too, was going to use a pro grader but the money fell through :( Cheers
I'm not a colorist either, but I have been pleased with my U2410 (2012 model). The surface is matte, not shiny, which I like. The only problem is that it goes to sleep intermittently when attached to my Mac Mini, and repeated searches for support reveal that this problem is a known issue. I fixed it by attaching rubber bands to the stand, looped across the power switch. I suspect that Dell has fixed this on later versions of the U24 series.

It is affordable 4K IPS calibrated monitor.
They don't have that model, but I have found the reviews on this site to be most informative. http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/
I just ordered the U2415... Dell has an $80 coupon on their site good through 11/1. I know it's not the best monitor out there (and is also not $1400), but will certainly be tons better than the LG I've been using for the past few years.
I personally would not grade on anything less than 27", but if you have a half hour you can read one of the most thorough reviews ever on TFT central, as posted above. If you buy the matching colorimeter, you will get good results.

Well, you can just search for cheap card with DP that support 4K.
I do not think it is good idea to buy today 1080p monitor if you pay good money for it.
Think I'm going to get this guy http://accessories.ap.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=au&cs=audhs1&l=en&sku=210-AEBM
@VK what about a 2560 x 1600 screen?
But note that soon 4K and 5K will be standard.
I also think 4K monitor must have no problems if you feed it with 2x less resolution.
Excellent, thanks for the tip VK.
