Let us and members know if you are at NAB.
You can also post meeting place coordinates to talk with other members!
This will be my first time attending . I'll be at the SuperMeet on the 8th and then be at the Convention Center on the 9th and 10th.
I'm trying to go but 400 dollar plane ticket is expensive~!
The prices I were seeing online for the dates and time I wanted were around $400 and up flying from Boston. I was was trying to find cheaper prices and all of a sudden the flight I wanted to get decided to go from a little under $400 to around $435. I ended up buying it at that new price unfortunately. When it comes to flying, it's always good to book as early as possible. It's true that buying early can be difficult if you havn't really decided to go yet. I definately agree that flying can be very expensive. I wish I had paid much less than I did. It's worse when I go to the Azores. Plane tickets can cost over $1,000 flying from Boston.
After wanting to go to NAB for many years, I find it surprising that I'm finally going. I figured I really need to finally go. Getting up close and personal with the latest production equipment is one thing but it's not just about that, its also about meeting like minded peole and possibly working with them on future projects. Touring around Las Vegas while their is another benifit. A lot of things to see and do.

It allows you to find everything quickly by tagging each event you want to visit and gives you a route to the booth of your choosing.
It also gives a list of people attending.
Their are other features as well.
I will be at NAB but only on the last two days April 9 (Wednesday) and April 10 (Thursday). I intend to get to the camera makers and perhaps a lens maker (such as Sigma) and will share here, time permitting.
I'm obviously going to visit some of the big booths but I'll also try visiting some of the smaller or not so known booths with interesting products.
I have some in mind such as: http://www.blindspotgear.com and http://www.kinefinity.tv/
Even stabilizers, etc that can work almost as good as the more known products but for a far less price can also be good.
I'll be taking videos and possibly interviewing some of the reps so for anyone reading this, feel free to give me some suggestions on what you'd like me to cover rather it's a new product from a major company or products from smaller companies.
I'm actually going to be there Wednesday afternoon through Friday sometime ... surprise surprise!
@rNeil Very cool. If you get a chance to stop by and check out the JuicedLink Little DARling recorder, let me know what you think. Maybe they'll give out some pricing and availabiity info. Would definitely be cool to be checking out new gear - have fun!
As far as I understand this recorder will be about $300, not cheap.
@Vitaliy_Kiselev They need to price it at $150 so it's affordable for lower budget users.
Grass Valley
NAB Show 2014, SL206 and N2513, April 2, 2014 — The new Grass Valley, A Belden Brand, will make its debut at the 2014 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show as an integrated presence, unified under a single banner, following the recent completion of Belden Inc.'s acquisition of Grass Valley. The new entity, the result of the historic merging of operations between industry powerhouses Grass Valley and Miranda, will host customers, partners, resellers and media at two different locations in the Las Vegas Convention Center, April 7-10: South Hall SL206 for Live and News Production, and North Hall N2513 for Playout.
Grass Valley personnel will demonstrate enhanced end-to-end workflows, featuring a host of well-integrated solutions that address the contemporary challenges of acquisition through production and playout. Both Grass Valley locations, identified with a combination of familiar brand icons—Grass Valley's "GV" script and Miranda's trademark, purple ellipse—will host a series of presentations and demonstrations that clearly illustrate the simplicity and flexibility of cloud-enabled solutions, the efficiency of software-based digital media workflows, and the fast-lane future of 4K on the IP superhighway.
Marco Lopez, Grass Valley's president, said, "Just one week after the completion of the acquisition, we're excited to share our celebration with the market. Most importantly, we look forward to demonstrating to our current and future customers the positive impact that our complementary portfolios, integrated engineering resources and shared domain knowledge can have on their businesses. Everything we do during this integration will be specifically designed to improve our ability to meet our customers' needs both today and tomorrow. NAB attendees will see that teamwork already in action."
South Hall Lower, SL206, will feature the unveiling of the industry's most comprehensive 4K production workflow: 4K K-Frame production switcher support, frame accurate 4K routing with the NVISION 8500 series, 4K K2 Dyno Replay Systems with an optional pan/zoom HD extraction output, 4K Kaleido multiviewers, 4K editing with EDIUS and a technology demonstration of the industry's first 4K camera to utilize broadcast standard B4 lenses based on award-winning Grass Valley LDX technology. This camera makes 4K sports production practical by offering the same excellent depth of field, field of view and sensitivity that the industry's best storytellers have become accustomed to in mainline HD productions.
As it turns out (and my how fast things can change at times) I ended up coming down early to Vegas for some other business opportunity ... and not sure I can actually stay the week until NAB ... though I still might. So ... from not coming at all to suddenly coming a week early ... might still be here. Maybe not. Would like to actually see that tradeshow mainly ... :)
Hi guys. I'll be working with FCPWORKS next week at NAB, demoing a ton of different workflows for FCPX. Hope to meet some of you in Vegas. You can sign up for a private demo here. Its at the Wynn. http://www.fcpworks.com/nab-final-cut-pro-x-demo-suite/
This seams like a decent article on some of the camera support equipment that will be shown at NAB. http://www.tvtechnology.com/article/nab--camera-support/269412
Well ... so I will be back in Vegas for NAB, and "hanging" at the tradeshow Wednesday. The only thing different about me from the "avatar" is I've a mustache & a small bit of beard at the chin. If you see me, say hi! Would love to meet anyone who'll be there Wednesday also.
Had a delightful evening with a rep from a major software company in Vegas ... and he's stoked about what all is going to be coming out here at NAB from so many companies this year. Should be a great trade show.

Moreover, our originally developed “Gimbal System” application, which combines image stabilization essential for usage such as aerial shots, will also be exhibited. This proposal will provide a new solution to expand the shooting field of the 4K camera system.- [Reference Exhibit] Interchangeable 4K compact handheld camera recorder
A “4K compact handheld camera recorder” will be on exhibit, featuring a 4K Super35mm image sensor, and MFT* Mount to flexibly accept a wide range of interchangeable lenses.
I was just about to post this ^^. One thing that could be interesting (in a future GH release) would be the possibility of Panasonic using their cinema camera sensor in a GH5 type camera. The sensor could function as a multi-aspect ratio 4/3 sensor in crop mode with m43 glass but also be expanded to the full image area for adapted APS-C and FF glass. Wouldn't that give us the best of both worlds?? If JVC can do it, it can obviously be done by Panasonic.
It seems like BM plans to present new camera anyway. :-)
