So you believe crop lenses are useable but may encounter vignetteing due to the slight smaller imaging circle of these lenses? I was also wondering how well the autofocus will work with adaptor to say my Gh3. I would only be using this function though with stills

The Metabones page claims that the Speed Booster isn't compatible with the 20/2.8 AI-S. Anyone know why this might be, as that is exactly one of the lenses I wanted to use....

Some crop sensor lens have a protruding rear element that stops it from working with the speedbooster. For example, I tried the canon 17-55mm and it doesn't fit but the Tokina 11-16 does.

Nice! I have the 11-16, but all the rest of my lenses are different.

My lenses are:

Tokina 11-16mm f2.8
Sigma 17-50mm f2.8
Nikon 20mm f3.5
Nikon 28mm f2.8
Nikon 35mm f2
Nikon 50mm f1.4
Nikon 85mm f1.8
Nikon 105mm f2.5
Nikon 135mm f2.8

If anyone can help with compatibility of any of my other lenses would be much appreciated. Thanks.

@bwhitz I have a stack of FDs but I've never seen an FD to Nikon adapter. Are they cheap...I know, lazy...should Google. :)

11-16/2.8, yes please show us. If it actually works wide open I'll buy one immediately. Adapter doesn't have much value, to me, if you can't use it on a 24 and wider wide open.

@bwhitz @itimjim Those FD to Nikon adapters does not focus to infinity, only allowing macro use of the FD lenses. I guess we need a special FD Speed booster for that.

I wonder if Mitakon are preparing their version of this? Looking forward to your testing @itimjim ! I won't jump the gun on this before seeing some samples, like with the Light Cannon (canceling my order worked though, luckily)

Metabones has released the "Nikon G to Micro Four Thirds Speed Booster" adapter... but does anybody have any idea why the Nikkor 20mm f 2.8 isn't supported? I was looking forward to use the adapter with this lens... sad!

Probably rear protruding something in it. Considering the vast number of other lenses available it isn't the end of the world.

Yeah I think the first time attaching any lens to one of these focal reducer adapters, you have to be really careful just in case something hits.

Arrived this morning. That was epically quick delivery, so hats off as a product manufacturer/distributor - Blackmagic take note ;-).

First impression is the whole thing from a quality perspective supersedes any adapter I've stuck on the front of the my GH2. Shipped, boxed, packaged and the actual quality of the workmanship is 1st rate. It's better than novoflex, which I paid £140 for in the UK. Admittedly this is a touch over 2x as much, but it does so much more.

I've attached a load of pictures of the product as received - shoot me now for taking unboxing photos!

As it's my lunch break, there's no time to do proper quality tests for pixel peepers. First impressions though:

Tokina 11-16 vignettes at 11mm (photo at 11 shown) (smallest aperture, smooths out wide open)
Vignette gone at 11.5mm
No further added distortions (barrel, pincushion - nothing scientific though)
Sharpness/detail seems good (pixel assist at maximum zoom on Tokina 28-80)

Pictures include: - Unboxing/product photos - SB with Tokina 11-16 on GH2 - SB with Tokina 28-80 on GH2 - Vignette on LCD with 11-16 @ 11mm - No vignette on LCD with 11-16 @ 11.5mm - Huge vignette with 11-16 @ 11m with Panasonic LA7200 (for shits and giggles, and someone will ask, vignettes at 16mm too) - Photo of vignette against a white background (projection screen - can't remember exact settings) - 2 horrendously slow shutter speed bokeh examples. Gives the idea though.

Only issue I would raise about the design and I'm almost 100% certain there's nothing you can do to mitigate it, is that the glass elements are really quite exposed. Especially the rear.
