That and the Neo 003, as well as a host of other phones, look to reinvent the market. I notice that DHGate now offers return within the US, and I expect as these items become more popular we will see other sellers offer something similar, or a combination of local service and/or local returns.

The G4 I believe comes in two versions, the more expensive one has a bigger battery and more memory.

I wonder if full HD has an advantage over say 1280x720? I mean, at which point do you stop seeing a difference on a 5 inch screen? I also wonder if higher pixels require more processing and battery and might thus be less practical?

Anyone here tried this high resolution on such a small device?

Yes, it has advantage. But not too large. If you like to browse or read something it makes things better.

LTE is quite different in different countries, different frequencies, etc. And small coverage still.

While all that remains true, I like what Samsung did with the Galaxy S3. I believe they call it a world phone, where the hardware is the same(although possibly locked) and operates on multiple different networks.

It may be unlikely to make a phone that works on all networks, but one that works on many LTE networks will sell better than one that works on none.

I can't speak for the above brands, but my Huawei U9510 (Ascend D Quad), has one damn good screen. It is a 720p Toshiba IPS+ screen. They beat the hell out of AMOLED screens in both detail and colour. Whites are white, not some off-green.

I'll stick to Huawei phones most likely.

I ordered Star S5 Butterfly and recieved it yesterday (see link in VK's comment above). Shipping via DHL was fast but took them a week to actually dispatch it. Communication with Pandawill was a bit weird (repeated e-mails for all kinds of details they already had, etc) - but nothing bad, just a bit chaotic.

I have never owned a proper smart phone before, so I can't compare it to anything - but it seems to work as expected. It comes with some sort of chinese voice recognizition widget that I can't figure out how to turn off - but not a big deal.

The phone is slim and light, and doesn't feel big in my pocket, but it takes time to get used handling the 5" screen - maybe I should have gotten a bit smaller one, but this is just a matter of personal taste. If I encounter any more serious problems later on I'll update this comment - but otherwise this seems to be a pretty good deal.

Edit: Initially I had some problems with GPS but seems to have started to work - so possibly unrelated to the phone.

Pandawill.com flash Android 4.2 by default ("Attention Please" note in the description). And buyer should leave a note to get back to Aliyun OS. But still 244 - 29 (free pack) = 215 bucks is a quite fair price to me.

Taiwan claim that Mediatek’s 8-core processor will arrive before the end of this month!" and "The first batch of these new processors will be ready for manufacturers to begin development by the end of July, while Mediatek are preparing full-scale manufacture for November!" so that means that the MT6592 will be ready until the end of this month and they (MediaTek) will send the first batch to all the Chinesse manufacturers until the end of July and MediaTek will announce it at November, but most of the manufacturers will have ready to run devices with MT6592 at November.
