Good idea. I wonder what the optical quality of the glass will be. Might need a little ergonomic refining, but could still be a great solution for run'n gun work.
I thought it to be interesting. I myself will be using the Xume adapters with Tiffen Water White 77mm ND's once my BMCC MFT arrives..

I think a spinning wheel with real ND's would be better than a single removable variable ND tho. Three ND's and one clear (so the flange distance won't change). It would be big, but I believe it would be a lot better for you finished image to use real ND's.
Well, this idea with one clear filter is cool, but maybe this manta guy has not ran into problem with flange distance? I remember that our discussion was pretty much hypothetical. Maybe the deviation is small enough so it could be ignored?
