I think that you need some battery power for them.
I used noname lavalier and panasonic stereo lavalier, both are not good (using ROWA).
Interesting idea cn be to use small dynamic cardioid mikes.

power on the plug is 2,85V. should work with those cheap 1.5-10V electred lavaliers on ebay. Buying now... I'll get back if it works
Super old topic, but the dslrfilmnoob found what looks like a newer version of this and other people may be interested. No sound quality test, but after listening to the quality of the system tested by Ty Ford, I am really curious about this kind of technology.

It all looks them same, just with highly inflated prices.
The power Output is 10Mw (whatever that means (I guess mW is what they meant), which is lower than the 50mW in the original post. In my head that means a weaker signal, but I guess we'll have to wait until someone tests it.
The audio technica sounds great, but it is also way more expensive.
