oops, I just looked at the feb upload date and thought it was new footage. well, he didn't have any 120p anyway !
current enough ?
I hav a question:
The specs state the v850/750 have 50mbps MP4 (1080P), what is the quality compared to 28mbps AVC?

MP4 is just container, it is same H.264, just with higher bitrate. AVCHD is also file format and file structure and also use H.264 .
just checked the specs at bhphotovideo for the W850.
for sensor size it states: 6.03 Megapixel MOS Main Sensor.
can someone please tell me what that means? how does it compare to the 1/2.88" sensor or the 1" sensor?
it plainly states at the very top of the specs page for b&h , a 1/2.3" sensor. You're trying to make orange juice with pineapples. megapixel's have nothing to do with the sensor size . that said it's a 12mp sensor so they're windowing it for video
With ALL Panasonic consumer camcorders you need to use lens specification to calculate real usable sensor, as they are known to use just center portion of 1/2.3 sensors.
as well you could use the number of megapixels (6mp) they're using for video, since you know the total number. What's interesting is their spec that it takes 25mp photos. I'd guess they're interpolating the 12mp sensor.
thanks, kurth. sorry, didn't read it carefully. panasonic will come out with a 4K camcorder later this year, but with the same sensor as these cams?
the v750 is 900$ cheaper than the sony cx900. is the 1" sensor really worth that much price difference?
so, I really like the MP 50mbit/s footage, its not perfect (still some ghosting on fast moving objects) but the picture doesnt fall apart as bad as with 28mbit/s AVCHD, and also the MP4 implementation doesnt have the requirement of having 2slices per frame (like AVCHD) so there is never a misalignment/asynchronization of the upper and lower half of the picture during playback.
so its kind of a perfect FULL HD camcorder; 50mbit 1080p is really better compared to AVCHD, stronger level shot than previous cams, 20x zoom, capable autofocus, 4x slomo, 1fps timelapse video, full manual settings, picture profile: color, sharpness, wb, exposure adjust... ONLY big thing that I am seriously lacking is CONTRAST adjustment, the intelligent contrast is rather weak, (like half stop), I am sure that the sensor would deliver at least 10stops DR or more, but you barely get 9stops, sure you can push it a bit in post, but I hate do anything in post except cut/stich/smartrender,
comparing to HC x920; I would say the x920 was slightly better in low light, and in DR, slightly
