Yeah, no kidding. I'm waiting on an FD to MFT speed booster. I'm starting to get worried that I'll be retired before that comes from Metabones or Mitakon. They'd have my money TODAY if either of them would get it out there.
me too, fd to m4/3!
FD to m43!!!! :-)
May be we need another "Don't cry for me Argentina" topic about it?
Good News!
"have you any date to the release of minolta md - m43 lens turbo?
Today - Mitakon - 7:38am - Mitakon Thank you for asking , we will release news in the coming week^^"
Finally some good news :)
@brunoalmeida Great :)
Contax Yashica to MFT!
Contax MFT would be grrrrreat!
@CRFilms I'm not familiar with Ai-s versus other Nikon... does this work with Sigma 18-35 which is F-mount? Also I clicked link and it is listed as a Used item. Any idea why?
Weird that they call it AI-s instead of F mount. Odd. Also kind of a bummer it's a dumb adapter. Hopefully someone will be the test bunny!
Ai-s lenses have manual aperture control, so an F to M43 adapter suffices (no iris control on adapter).
G lenses have no manual aperture control. So, the "G" to M43 adapter must have a ring that controls the iris.
Both are F mounts, so a G lens will mount to anything that an F (Ai-s) will mount to, but needs the "G" adapter or else your iris remains completely stopped.
A "G" adapter used with an Ai-s lens will in many cases allow you to set the aperture to the completely stopped down position on the lens, and then control the iris steplessly by way of the adapter ring. A nice feature!
@_OZ A bit much for me to comprehend, but I appreciate the explantation. So where does that leave the Mitakon for lenses like Sigma 18-35 - I guess you can't use it as there's no aperature control on lens or adapter. ..and no connection electronically to camera?
Nope buddy, the lens needs an iris ring. Old nikons, rokinons, stuff like that so it's pretty much a no go for me.
@vicharris Thanks - prob for best as image quality prob better with Metabones. So I'm back to my plan to test Pocket - Metabones - Sigma 18-35 for imaging.
Yeah, I just picked up the 18-35 and am using it with a Novaflex adapter. Looking forward to getting the metabones. I would love to try the Mitakon G when it comes out, but at this rate, I will probably just get the MB since it is available and getting great results.
@_OZ The Mitakon doesn't have an iris control. You can't use it with that lens.
I understand this version doesn't, but is there no G to m43 on the way?
C/Y to MFT
Decide to write an email to mitakon about the m43 to fd lens turbo . Here's what they said -
Glad to tell you, YES. The Lens turbo Canon FD to M4/3 will be launched in coming weeks, if everything going smooth.
Best regards Lau MXcamera
Great news!
Wow! :))
Half of the metabones price and hopefully v2 ! It appears from the speedbooster fd-m43 complete sellout within days, that alot of folks are waiting for this little jewel. Give mitakon some feedback.
