On a funny note, our good buddy JimmyKorea is doing the same shit over in the BM forum as he was here. Good god that dude!
Check out PB's most recent video with the night time scene over St Paul's, around 2:00 minutes. Check out the hard circular clipping on the street lights, which should be star bursts. I've seen this on a few videos now, which does now look like a problem.
Yep, that's the blooming stuff.
This one is a blatant offender also https://vimeo.com/m/72972391
@vicharris I'll take your pre-order, just PM me the details.

yep....blackmagic better hire one of those fuji engineers ...quick !
@vicharris Haha, I saw that JimmyKorea thread in the BM forum :) Same attitude. Jeez.
Hmmm. I actually like the blooming highlights.
If someone wants to give up their preorder, I'm in LA. Please email mrpolaroid at gmail dot com
Thanks for taking one for the team @spacewig :)
@spacewig, I have someone in line already but if something happens, your next up. Cool? :-) @bannedindv If spacewig bails, you're next! BTW, I'm in Culver City.
@vicharris If you already have someone what was the point of offering your pre-order?
@spacewig It's called response time.
"blooming" is perhaps not the right word for what looks like very hard clipping..
@rrrr I'd call it clipping if it didn't leak into adjacent pixels and quite badly.
Do we call it white orbing? ;-) http://m.dpreview.com/news/2012/04/26/Fujifilm-X10-white-orb-update
@itimjim orb clipping? ;-)
I know what you mean, but blooming to me means a haze-like behavior, often optically induced.. a bit like some softening/low con filters. (therefore it took a while to realize what the issue was!)
I wonder if it ever produces similar artifacts with soft clips?
Maybe the "white orb" was supposed to be a firmware solution for "black orb" ?
What modes or situations cause the black dot?
@Mckinise The black dot is a characteristic of all BlackMagic cameras. It occurs when a section of the image is over exposed, e.g. the sun. It's a simple fix in Da Vinci.
I have a cousin who posts lot of pictures on Facebook of his "Black Hole Sun" sunset shots. I think he has a Samsung Galaxy phone he takes those shots with. It must be more than in BM cameras.
@vicharris, could you add my name in the list as well. I have my name in early order list for two BMPCC but a client ( former boss ) is begging me for one of mine and I have to take cover. For some reason I have a feeling that mystery enlisted person that is before all in here will snatch the prize though.
I heard the mystery man is Steven Spielberg.
Damn it! Now that you guys pointed the "blooming" thing, I´m seeing it everywhere...
@010101 Sure will but I believe you're fourth in line and the "mystery man" said he was still interested. Not trying to get anyones hopes up but you never know when you sell stuff online.
It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
