Review
The Panasonic Lumix GF6 offers almost everything you could want from a mirrorless camera, with the most likely complaint about it likely to be the lack of flash hot-shoe, making it less appealing to the more serious photographer. For the majority of people having a built in flash will be preferable, and the re-introduction of the mode dial will make the camera easier to use for every level of photographer. Image quality is very good, with the camera delivering sharp detailed photos with good colour, and low levels of noise, although not as low as results from the Olympus PEN Lite E-PL5, due to use of a different sensor. The Wi-Fi implementation is very good, giving remote control and numerous shooting options straight from your smartphone or tablet. There are a few, very minor niggles, but we can very happily highly recommend the camera

Like its predecessor, the GF6 will suit digicam upgraders who want a small compact system camera that is easy to operate and connects easily with online sharing sites – either through the Panasonic cloud-based service or via an internet connected 'smart' device. Photographers who are seriously into Wi-Fi will find a lot to like in this camera, which has one of the best integrations we've seen, augmented by NFC facilities that will please owners of Android tablets and smart-phones.
Although the GF6 isn't rated as weatherproof, it's solid enough to withstand use for wildlife photography when triggered remotely via one of these devices. It would be possible to use the new 14-140mm lens at longer focal lengths in such situations, although Panasonic's 100-300mm f/4-5.6 lens (which we haven't yet reviewed) would provide a longer reach for flighty subjects.
The GF6 retains all the advantages of its predecessor for street photography, while offering higher resolution, faster autofocusing and faster continuous shooting speeds. The tilting screen will make the touch operating function more versatile for these photographers, enabling them to focus and trigger the shutter by touch with the camera held at waist level or above the head.

Body only price dropped to $499, inclusive of shipment to US/Aust/Europe
All in all the Panasonic Lumix GF6 is a surprisingly capable camera that will more than satisfy a lot of people's needs, including both casual snappers and more serious photographers alike. You'd be hard-pushed to find such a well-rounded, well-connected, and, well, great performing camera without spending quite a lot more, making the new Panasonic Lumix GF6 richly deserving of our coveted Highly Recommended award.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF6 turns a good performance while remaining compact and providing plenty of powerful features. Its novice-oriented interface offers simplicity yet rarely gets in the way of advanced features. Exposure-Compensation may be accident prone but it is quick to set.
Image quality is a step ahead of previous generation and the entire standard sensitivity range provides useful results with clean images up to ISO 1600. Color and white-balance are good and both are highly customizable. Metering is very reliable and so is autofocus. Given all this, the GF6 is hard to fault.

GF6 is hard to fault. With the new 14-42mm kit lens fitted it's one of the most compact mirrorless cameras around and its simple control layout and accessible touch-screen will feel comfortably familiar to anyone used to an advanced compact.
Its capable Auto modes, copious scene presets, and Creative control effects filters provide an easy route into more adventurous photography and, along with its new Panorama mode an opportunity to try something creative without the need for technical know
GF5 remains in Panasonic's catalogue for now, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it as an alternative to the GF6. You might save a little cash, but you'd be sacrificing some great features, like the forward facing screen with Self shot mode, Low light AF, intervalometer, Panorama shot, and of course the Wifi connectivity. Those are the features that define the Lumix GF6 and they'd be hard to give up, so it'll come as no surprise that we're awarding the Panasonic Lumix GF6 a Cameralabs Highly Recommended award

Does anyone know if the NA version of the GF6 has the 29 min video clip limit for AVCHD? I downloaded the manual and all it says is that in Europe and some Asian countries, AVCHD is limited to 29 minutes. Does that mean all other areas are not? I love how small this camera is and would consider getting one.
