  • Daily reports on cases and deaths from COVID-19 are reminiscent of reports from the front. Every day there are more than 20,000 cases across the country. On Tuesday, 21,559 people fell ill, a new daily record was broken in terms of the number of deaths - 852 people died. There is growing talk that there is a new, fourth wave of coronavirus and that only a universal vaccination can cope with the pandemic

  • The natural population decline (excess of the number of deaths over the number of births) in Russia in January-August 2021 increased by 71.6% compared to January-August 2020.

The number of deaths in the Russian Federation in January-August 2021 increased by 18.5% - to 1 million 523 646 people from 1 million 285 199 people in January-August 2020.

The natural population decline in the Russian Federation in 2020 more than doubled - to 688.7 thousand people from 316.2 thousand people in 2019. This indicator became the maximum since 2005 - then the natural population decline was 846.6 thousand people.

EIC "Invest-Proekt" published a study of the profitability of Russians and found out that the state earns on a conditional Russian twice as much as it spends on its maintenance. Quote:

“According to the calculations of the ECC“ Invest-Project ”, the average profitability of a conventional Russian for 2010-2020 was 186.2%.

For calculations, we took the consolidated budget expenditures of all levels (federal, regional and local) for each year and divided by the annual GDP per capita. The conventional Russian is profitable.

But as you can see from the graph above, over 10 years, the growth in profitability on an annualized basis happened only 3 times - in 2011, 2017 and 2018. At the same time, it is curious to note that the conventional Russian gave the highest profitability in 2018 (202.2%), which just coincided with the increase in VAT. The lowest level of profitability for this decade is expected at the end of 2020 - 176.2%.

Thus, the profitability per conditional Russian can be called one of the key targets for the effectiveness of socio-economic development "

  • New 1990s in Russia

Age-specific mortality rate (AMR). This is the proportion of people who have died of a CERTAIN AGE this year. It is considered according to certain age groups, for example, VKS for women 45-49 years old. Obviously, this indicator does not depend on the age structure - after all, if there are more people in this age group, this will not affect the relative number of deaths of these ages.

  • Russian President Vladimir Putin believes the country has roughly two weeks to prepare for another pandemic strike.

"We see what is happening in the world. This suggests that we have at least a couple of weeks to get ready," the head of state said on Wednesday at a meeting with members of the government. So he reacted to the report of Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova on the situation with the spread of coronavirus and its new strain "omicron".

Putin considers it necessary to properly prepare for a possible new wave of covid in all regions of the country. "In order to work effectively, we need to mobilize institutions of various kinds - both federal institutions and regional, local, sectoral ones. We need to work with everyone and be ready for a possible impact of this virus on a new round," the president stressed.
