Well, I bought an 80D to play with, and so far I have to say I really like it... Image quality is nice in my little impromptu testing, and it is extremely nice to use. So far I don't see myself wanting to grab my GH4 to shoot something now that I have the 80D. I need to actually try to use the 80D for a project before I will know.
Is anyone on here doing any structured testing with picture profiles and sharpening in post versus the various sharpening settings in camera? For sharpness there is "strength," "fineness," and "threshold." So far I'm not sure what they mean.
The Canon EOS 80D builds on the big leap forward that its predecessor made principally by adding continuous autofocusing for live view stills shooting and upgrading the image sensor and focusing/metering systems. So although it looks outwardly very similar to the 3-year-old EOS 70D, there are enough changes under the hood to ensure that this new model remains competitive with the likes of the Nikon D7200 and Sony A6300.

Strength usually defines overall sharpening effect amount, fineness usually defines how different frequencies are affected, and threshold set some boundary value where effect starts. I suggest to experiment on some suitable image - like lot of different tree branches.
