It is good tradition to make winter video contests on PV.

Terms

1. You can submit TWO videos made by you personally or your small team using any camera. Just post it in this topic.
2. You can submit any video made after contest start or up to 3 months prior of contest start.
3. Clip must reside on vimeo or youtube video hostings and must have in description "personal-view laing contest" text with link to contest page (for contest time).
4. Video must be between 2 and 10 minutes in length. if you think that video is very good you can submit longer videos.
5. Contest duration is until March 17, or as we reach 25 participants.

Winner selection

1. In this same topic any PV member registered before contest start date can post names of up to 3 videos that he likes most. Contest participants can also vote for videos if they are not their own.
2. Members with more than 500 posts can post names of up to 5 videos that they like most.
3. In the closing day I'll post up to 8 videos list I like most.
4. Member with video that will get most mentions in lists will be declared winner. Winner will have special status on forum for one year.
5. In situation where two or more videos get exactly same number of mentions topic will be reopen to allow more members to vote.

Ceylan's latest Kis uykusu is by no means an easy piece... by that I mean (hard to explain) that despite being a character based film, there's no judgment whatsoever, there's not a moral ethno-technical POV; that part IF happening at all is going to come from you. Personally I find this very mature and fascinating because Bilge Ceylan is giving us all possible space, each person will be able to construct his/her own Winter Sleep. It is also not easy because paradoxically it carries "concealed" a sensitive and intelligent but also very tough critique to ALL turkish social stratus; one might easily extrapolate that to the rest of the world, specially the rural zones. The landscape is gorgeous but it is also a confinement element, all very shakespearean. Throughout the 196 minutes I felt completely immersed in these few character's lifes, I surprised myself analysing and judging them, establishing and measuring their acts with a stupid moral system that, either in day to day normal life and specially here is utterly worthless.

Despite knocking on many doors, I end up going alone to this experience and it was good to be left alone with these guys. Also it was good later on to meet with someone who had watched the film and talk a little bit about it, also (like any good story) we had to talk a little bit about us... and we agreed that Winter Sleep has some of Buñuel and some of Bergman (but without the sensuousness - she said) and I might add some of (early) Kurosawa. It's a lot like real life in a totally no bullshit devastating slowly progression of "things" through an uber complex matrix of relationships, ay I bet you that if ants "had feelings" and to pay/receive rent they'll be all fucked up too.

After Ilklimer and now this, I can ridiculously call myself a Ceylan fan and can even brag (to people who care about such things) about it winning last Canne's festival Palm D'or.

Although I have worked with still photography and video operating I haven't had much experience with this more artistic film work so I would love some feedback. Most of the shots I was on a very wide aperture, around 0.95-1.4 and kept my ISO very low. I haven't really done any colour correction and I am not entirely happy with the edit. I did it more as a test and rushed the edit a little whilst at a friends house (so I couldn't concentrate 100%). One thing I have noticed is that there is a "judder" effect going on constantly throughout, like it is missing some frames. Not sure if this is because I am using a cracked version of premiere or its the way I exported it.

Anyway here it is (its kind of depressing).

I want to thank everyone who has helped me out with information so far. I plan to donate a small amount to the site soon, having some financial issues currently though.

Anyway, I have a GH2. I also have FLow Motion V2.2 on a 32gb Class 10 Transcend SD card. I also have Kit Lens 14-140 & an M42 -> M43 adapted Helios 44-2 Lens.

I would like to know which settings (iso, etc etc) to use for wildlife photography and video work in my garden in the UK this December.

I have some time off from studies so wish to film a wildlife short based in my garden. If you can help I really appreciate your time!
