I wanted to share this film with you to get some real critics from you. I'm active on a Swedish forum already and usually put my films over there to get some feedback but I wanted to hear your opinions as well.

The film is a school project I had, and I wanted to make a short film where I could really show my color grading. So even though I directed, edited and made the vfx in this video, I did it almost only to show my grading skills to then have something to show post companies as a portfolio after my graduation, which was a few weeks ago.

What do you think is good, what can I've been doing better?

I was using GH2, Orion v4b, Nostalgic (-2-2-2-2). Lens was Samyang 35mm 1.4.

Software used was After Effects CS5.5, Premiere Pro CS5.5, Twixtor, DaVinci Resolve. Converted all my files to Cineform .MOV before editing.

48hr Guerilla Film Competition https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3623/48hr-guerilla-film-competition- Mon, 18 Jun 2012 22:34:44 +0000 Philldaagony 3623@/talks/discussions Yes, I know 48hr films can be horribly acted, horribly edited, and horribly shot, but it forces those involved to create something from scratch, which falls in line with one my personal filmmaking tenants "just shoot." Anyway, here is out entry into the 48hr Guerilla film festival. Follow the link and make sure to "like" the YouTube video. Also, huge props to those who helped get our "Got Milk" video voted in the top 5 of the got milk commercial competition earlier this year!

Sadly, the graded version of our film didn't export in time and we were forced to submit the ungraded/non-color corrected version of the film. I'm still quite proud of the results. We shot it on the GH2 and the 5DMark III. I'll post the graded version after the contest ends.

The Boss - GH2 shot short film https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2705/the-boss-gh2-shot-short-film Tue, 27 Mar 2012 05:53:06 +0000 amokalex 2705@/talks/discussions Hey guys! Shot a short with the GH2 and thought I'd share it with you lot:

It was all shot at 720p50, using a Voigtlander 25mm 0.95, Canon FD 50mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.8.

As a cautionary tale, I attempted to shoot with the Flowmotion v1.11 patch, but found when getting the footage in it was averaging a very low bitrate of between 14 - 17 mbps, which I can only attribute to me not having applied the patch correctly. So always test your bitrates before going out into a shoot! I can't work out why this patch won't work for me as I don't have problems with any others.

Anyhow, just wanted to express my thanks for all the work you guys do on this forum, and to show how great this little camera can look even without a massive high bitrate patch!

Trailer for "Citizen 672" https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3314/trailer-for-citizen-672 Wed, 23 May 2012 13:30:09 +0000 bostonmike 3314@/talks/discussions A quick trailer of our short film entitled "Citizen 672". Our Sci-Fi entry in a 48 Hour Film Contest. Unfortunately we were two hours late submitting this one due to a faulty audio track (GH2 needs headphone monitoring for sound badly), so we're not in the running for any awards. We had to pitch out 2 minutes of dialogue and improvise with a propaganda-type voice over.

We filmed this one on a gh2 with Driftwood's Terraquake hack. I used the kit 14-140mm lens on the opening tunnel shot, the staircase shot and driving shots...a Vivitar Series one 28-90mm lens on the sewer tunnel shot (out of focus because I was the cinematographer and the only guy who would go into that tunnel) and a 40mm Hexanon lens on the interior prison shots.

Imagine a future where one government controls the entire Earth and human beings are reduced to numbers. One citizen daydreams of a revolution, but in 2065 even daydreams are forbidden.

Short Film - The Date, Shot for YouTube Short Film Competition https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2758/short-film-the-date-shot-for-youtube-short-film-competition Mon, 02 Apr 2012 12:16:03 +0000 Philldaagony 2758@/talks/discussions

We shot this short film for the YouTube short film competition. We went from concept, to written script, auditions and casting, to shooting, and editing in a 6-week span starting in mid-February.

We used the Quantum Orion v9b patch, and couldn't have been happier with the results. We can't thank @Vitaliy_Kiselev and Nick @Driftwood and everyone else on this forum for their hard work. This is truly a unique community and I can't wait to see what the rest of the year has in store.

Also, the ending credits are truncated because of the 15:00 running time, the version of the film we plan on releasing to festivals is about a minute longer with some footage added in the support group video, and extended credits. Also, I uploaded the version we submitted to Vimeo to share with everyone here, because I despis YouTube's compression.

Short Film: Unwritten - Made for the Sci-Fi London 48Hr Film Challenge https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2897/short-film-unwritten-made-for-the-sci-fi-london-48hr-film-challenge Mon, 16 Apr 2012 19:40:14 +0000 itimjim 2897@/talks/discussions Wow, what a weekend. We had 48 hours from 12 noon on Saturday, until Monday noon today, to write, shoot, edit and deliver a film for the Sci-Fi London Film Festival (http://www.sci-fi-london.com/48-hour-film-challenge). You're given a title, line of dialog and prop to do something with.

It's far from perfect, and the big lesson I learned, was don't shoot green screen for your first time and expect to complete in 48 hours! I'm incredibly proud of our team pulling something like this together in so little time though.

Here's our entry:

Supplied Brief: Title: Unwritten Line: A perfectly ordinary person is rare in our society Prop: I (Heart) Badge: We see a character pin a badge with “I (The heart symbol) and any word” on to another character or an object - not just put on desk etc, must be ‘pinned’.

Camera: GH2, Sedna AQ1 (SanDisk 95B 64GB), Smooth -2, -2, -2, -2. Lenses: Panasonic 24/2.5 plus Panasonic LA7200, Canon FD 35/2, FD 85/2 plus Bolex Anamorphot 32/16/1.5 Filters: Tiffen Pro-Mist 1/4 (for 24/2.5), Formatt ND 0.3, 0.6, 0.9.

Post: Premiere Pro, After Effects, ColorGHear.

Short film shot with GH2 + Lomo cinema lenses https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2217/short-film-shot-with-gh2-lomo-cinema-lenses Wed, 08 Feb 2012 00:57:53 +0000 ed_lee83 2217@/talks/discussions I know a few peeps here are fans of Lomo lenses (and some are also selling them on here), so I've finally been able to upload a short I DP'ed last year shot here in Hong Kong with the GH2 (unhacked!), filmed entirely with Lomo OCT-19 glass: Standard speeds 18mm (a bit unsharp here), 35mm, 50mm, 75mm, 37-140. Plus a 35mm T1.4 for the stills used in the short. Unfortunately I couldn't secure the 1080 version, this was a DVD rip. The short is gonna try some other fests so I have to keep it private viewing for now. It's called "This File Cannot Be Deleted" (director's in-joke) and is in Chinese, so it has English subtitles. The story is loose at best, but I'd say most of you would like to see the quality of the lenses. It was showcased at a film festival here and held up very well on the big screen.

Amelie short - Competition finalist - shot on 600D https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2167/amelie-short-competition-finalist-shot-on-600d Wed, 01 Feb 2012 16:43:18 +0000 Cheekorobbins 2167@/talks/discussions My New Years resolution was to find a competition to enter and get something filmed, I decided on the Jameson Empire - Done in 60 Seconds competition and have been selected as a finalist!

Wanted to share the video and, if you like it, please vote for me on the link below.

Vote Here

Filmed on my Canon 600D(1920x1080 @ 24fps) over two days. I only decided to enter the competition at the start of January and the deadline was the 20th so I didn't have as much time as I would've liked, fitting it around my day job(animator/3D generalist). Decided to spend 2 weeks planning and refining the idea and a week to put together an animatic and then assemble everything from there.

Location is in my flat, actress is my wife(who is an actress, handy!), I've still got a lot to learn about lighting so I'm not entirely happy with the look. Lamp lighting for the sofa and laptop close up shots and we have no plug sockets downstairs so just had to suffer the ceiling halogens :(

Used a bare bulb for the close up shots of the hands which I'm happier with(the typing one worked best I felt)

I used the Tamron 17-50 2.8 for all of it, I'm kicking myself for not using the 50mm 1.8(what was I thinking!?) mainly on a tripod and a shoulder rig for the final shot outside the door.

Edited in Premiere and graded in After Effects using Colorista II, once again I was short on time but was able to get a general warm hue on the live action shots and a green hue on the computer screens in fitting with the Amelie movie and the colour palettes used for her appartment and the outside world. Ended up being so tight on the deadline I didn't get to do a noise reduction and sharpening pass unfortunately.

I was going to just do the computer shots in after effects and apply a filter to get the screen look but after some tests it actually worked best just filming the monitor so I stuck with that, most of it is just me manipulating layers in photoshop in realtime(in the splitscreen email shot the cursor that appears is the move one if you look closely, couldn't find a workaround for that :) )

If there are any lighting/gaffers on here living in the London area that are looking for projects to get involved in I'd love to hear from you, it's definitely a weakness.

Anyway, hope you enjoy it. If you voted, thanks very much!

Comments and feedback welcome.
