[video=vimeo;115945748]

Less jello. shooting in 3840 x 2160 seems to my eyes to have less jello. Very minor grade.

Contrast -10 Saturation -3

Used Wondershare to convert at -35 contrast. brought into Resolve and did some minor tweaking.

This little plastic fellow, using h.265 maybe the best video to come out of a dslr - maybe on par with the Red Epic. Look for yourself.

40" Monitor/HDTV for Editing? https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/10453/40-monitorhdtv-for-editing Sun, 25 May 2014 15:00:10 +0000 ragnar 10453@/talks/discussions I need some advice.
Here's the quick backstory:

I've been using two 23" Hanspree monitors for all of my Photoshop, AE, and Premiere editing for the last 6 years of so. One of the Hanspree monitors just died the other day and my first thought was to just replace it. Now I'm thinking that perhaps a 40" monitor/hdtv would be a possible choice. A 40" monitor would be about 729 inches square while my old setup of two 23" monitors was 698 inches square. Getting a real honest to god 40" monitor seems too expensive but I did find a Samsung H40B HDTV that looked good. One review said it has 4:4:4 sub sampling (whatever that is) which makes text very sharp and clear, an important factor for me and editing. Anyway, if anyone is editing on something like this I'd appreciate any comments.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3, 4k 30fps, 720p 120fps https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/8008/samsung-galaxy-note-3-4k-30fps-720p-120fps Wed, 04 Sep 2013 23:58:52 +0000 mintcheerios 8008@/talks/discussions image

Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Note 3 and it is the most advanced device in the Korean company's smartphone line-up yet.

It comes with a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor for the LTE 4G version or a 1.9GHz octa-core Samsung processor for regions locked to 3G services, plus 3GB of RAM. The 5.7-inch super AMOLED screen offers a Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. And the device will come with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean from the off.

As rumoured, 4K video recording is possible thanks to the presence of the Snapdragon 800 processor. It can shoot UHD content in 30fps for playback to a suitably high resolution display, but should you drop down to Full HD, 60fps video shooting is possible. Slow motion video - shot at 120fps - is possible when recording in 720p.

Samsung ISOCELL https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/8211/samsung-isocell Tue, 24 Sep 2013 06:14:28 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 8211@/talks/discussions

Samsung Electronics announced its new advanced pixel technology for CMOS image sensors, ISOCELL. This new technology substantially increases light sensitivity and effectively controls the absorption of electrons, resulting in higher color fidelity even in poor lighting conditions. - See more at: http://global.samsungtomorrow.com/?p=28442#sthash.h9Spe5Hl.dpuf

The quality of an image sensor is determined by the amount of light that is accurately captured by the individual pixels within the sensor array. With the market pressure to increase camera resolution and image quality, without growing the camera size, the pixels have had to shrink, while improving their performance at the same time – a challenging task.

image

To meet this challenge, previous sensor technology developments focused on improving the light absorption of each pixel, and have progressed pixel technology from FSI (Front Side Illumination) to BSI (Back Side Illumination) which places photodiode at the top to maximize photoelectric efficiency. While being very effective at the time, this BSI technology also faced limitations in improving image quality as pixel sizes continued to decrease.

ISOCELL technology forms a physical barrier between neighboring pixels – isolating the pixel. This isolation enables more photons to be collected from the micro-lens and absorbed into the correct pixel’s photodiode minimizing undesired electrical crosstalk between pixels and allowing expanded full well capacity (FWC).

image

Compared to conventional BSI pixels, the ISOCELL pixels decrease the crosstalk by approximately 30 percent which results in higher color fidelity to reproduce the original color with sharpness and richness, and increase the full well capacity (FWC) by 30 percent which leads to greater dynamic range.

Additionally, an imager designed with ISOCELL can feature a 20 percent wider chief ray angle (CRA), reducing the height of the camera module. This makes it suitable for slim and small form factor mobile devices with challenging low z-height requirements.

Things that I like is the VGA OLED screen.
They also have 1.44Mp viewfinder (ala GH1). 1920 x 1080 30fps and 24 fps using H.264

Now you can use your tablet or smartphone as viewfinder (monitor) via Wi-Fi and also adjust camera parameters using it.

LEGO Rubic's Cube https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1215/lego-rubics-cube Wed, 19 Oct 2011 06:16:27 +0000 Eugene 1215@/talks/discussions Do you think you can do faster?

"This video of the blazingly fast CubeStormer II setting a new world record for solving a Rubik's Cube is all the more impressive given it's built with LEGO Mindstorms and powered by a Samsung Galaxy S II.

The previous record for solving a Rubik's Cube was 5.66 seconds, held by Australian Feliks Zemdegs. It was one of the last remaining tactical advantages mankind held over the machines, but now it's gone. Because Mike Dobson and David Gilday's CubeStormer II has managed to one-up Feliks with a time of 5.352 seconds. Adding insult to injury, human solvers are actually allowed to study the cube before the clock starts. But the CubeStormer II's time includes the mere moments it needed to look it over.

We should all hang our collective heads even lower given the CubeStormer II is built from four LEGO Mindstorm NXT kits, controlled by a custom Android app doing the actual solving. After snapping a photo of each side of the scrambled cube, the app uses a specially developed algorithm to create a solution that's optimized for the solver's gripping mechanism. So in the future if someone set out to build a cube solving robot that wasn't constructed from a building toy, even this record wouldn't stand a chance."

Samsung Working on DSLR-like Bokeh for Compacts https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/428/samsung-working-on-dslr-like-bokeh-for-compacts Tue, 19 Jul 2011 16:17:57 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 428@/talks/discussions While the primary lens is capturing the full-resolution image, a secondary lens and sensor captures another image with the sole purpose of evaluating the relative distances of areas in the image. (In some configurations, the camera may actually be a 3D camera, while in other configurations, it may truly be a secondary lens and sensor.) Then, the camera merges the data with the primary image to create a depth map and applies a graduated blur based on this depth map.
