I'm selling a few things, all in very good condition. I have a Rode NTG-2 microphone that I'm selling for $150. That includes free shipping and comes with the foam wind screen and the Rode soft carry case. I also have 2 Pentax Lenses that I would say are perfect, but because I'm not a lens expert I'll just call them "very good". I used them briefly but decided to stick with my 28mm & 50mm Lomo lenses for the particular look I'm going for on my next project. I don't see any problems at all with the glass, and the images looked perfectly clean when I used them on my GH2. I'm selling them each for $100. That includes free shipping, as well as a free Pentax to m43 adapter, so these are ready to use once you receive them. They both have front and rear caps, as well as a clear screw on filter for protection. If you want to buy the 2 lenses I can offer them both for $180.

I keep all my gear properly stored in Pelican cases, and will also be very carefully wrapping and packing these before I ship them to you.

The biggest benefit I can think of is that the exposure will stay constant as you zoom. You can fix the shutter speed, focal ratio, and ISO values and then zoom without needing to change them. That sounds great but do we really need that?

With cameras that have Auto ISO available in manual mode can’t you just let the auto ISO control the exposure while you zoom?

Also aren’t all lenses constant aperture, just not always at their wide open apertures? If you stop down to the minimum aperture of the lens then the aperture will remain fixed in aperture priority or manual mode while you zoom even if the lens isn’t a true “Constant Aperture” lens.

What happens as you zoom? Aren’t these lenses still changing the aperture in order to keep it constant? Doesn’t that mean that your depth of field will change as you zoom? If the focal ratio of a not constant aperture zoom lens increases as you zoom in could it then keep depth of field constant as you zoom if so desired? Would that ever be desirable?

Couldn’t a constant aperture zoom lens have a slightly wider aperture or slightly longer focal length if it wasn’t a constant aperture lens wide open? Aren’t they crippling the lens slightly in order to make it constant aperture wide open?

Also what about being parfocal. Isn’t maintaining focus as you zoom more important than maintaining focal ratio especially in cases where you can let Auto ISO solve the changing exposure issue?

I am just curious as to why we insist on having constant aperture lenses. To me the benefits of a constant aperture lens do not outweigh the benefits of a non-constant aperture lens as long as your camera allows auto ISO in the modes you are shooting with.

With that being said the 35-100mm F2.8 is pretty much the only lens I use on my GH4 now. However, I really don’t zoom that often while filming so I am not sure I use it to its full abilities.

I hope to avoid still lenses for mechanical reasons and also to get that "warmth" and organic nature one might get from older cine lenses. I might consider older still lenses that are all manual and have good mechanics.

Versatility, size and weight are my major concerns. I'm not trying to find optical perfection here. In fact imperfections (low corner sharpness, flaring, etc.) are welcomed as I prefer older glass with digital capture anyways if it gives me good center sharpness.

Modern cine zooms are huge and bulky and expensive and I'm not looking to rent. That's why I've been thinking about older lenses mostly. Ideally something that could be converted to EF mount. Flexible budget depending on the lens.

I've been digging the net for some days now and I've come mostly empty handed. Only option I found was this small 1kg Optar 25-80 T3.4 but I was hoping to widen my options. (http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?31664-Optar-25-80mm-PL-mt-Lens-for-sale)

Up for sale this VERY RARE Iscomorphot 8/1,5X - Isco-Göttingen Anamorphic lens!

The lens is quite old, regarding this, it is in very good condition. It doesn't have scratches, haze or fungus, it only has coating marks on the front and rear elements. It looks scrary on the photos, but it is only coating and not a deep scratch, sometimes this happens with coatings on 40-50 years old german lenses. I never ever noticed any quality loss.

• Post photos taken with your vintage manual lenses at wide open aperture, preferably at f/1.4 or faster, but other lenses with slower max apertures are also welcome.

• List the lens, the camera, and the aperture (includes speedboosters!)

Also the optical has a small stroke about an eighth of an inch over the glass. Unfortunately the photos a little kick fast and the front is out of focus.

Anyone out there happen to have any dealings with them recently? Or possibly know of another place one could send a lens mount like this to get repaired?

The lens is actually at a repair shop, which is how I know the flex is the problem.

But the repair person stumbled upon the problem that there is no orderable part number, and it is not showing on ebay.

So he basically told me that if I couldn´t find the part, he could not do the repair.

I unfortunately haven't been able to use this adapter because it doesn't fit the Blackmagic Pocket Camera. This problem is acknowlegded by RJ and seems to be related to non-standard measures of the Pocket's MFT mount. This adapter fits Panasonic GH cameras with no trouble (tested it with the GH1 and GH2).

Does the GH3--or could my lens--have a motor that runs even when the camera is in manual mode (even for stills), set on manual focus, and is simply sitting there, pointed at a surface with a constant exposure?

I've got the OIS switch turn off on the lens, as well as every camera function I can think of.

The only time that the sound goes away is when the camera is in "Scene" mode--but as soon as a scene setting is "set," the noise comes back.

I have updated the camera to the 1.2 firmware.

I've never worked with a DSLR before, and I'm a bit of a newbie in general (most interested in video). Is this normal?

Im thinking between the SLR Magig 12mm T1.6 Built-in Lens Gear and the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 for video (adapting), I will make the upgrade to GH4. I think it's the best around U$500, I dont see better options.

The Zuiko 12mm its good for still, but more expensive. The Rokinon have little tests and dont speak so well.

I have a Marantz PDM661 solid state audio field recoder and a 35mm Minolta MC W. Rokkor - HH f1.8 lens for sale.

1) Marantz PMD661:

2) 35mm Minolta MC Rokkor f1.8:

This was one of the best lensen available at its time. Its fast and renders a beautyfull boke. Its sharp and gets rid of the "electronic look" on all digital cameras. It really shines when used for portrait and beauty shots. And because of its metall body and smooth mechanics, the lens has a very nice feel when used.

The lens has a Minolta standart mount and a 55mm filter thread. Its focal length is 35mm and the iris can be opend up to f1.8. Focus distance is marked in meters and feet and close focus limit is about 30cm/1.0ft. (angle of view: 64° , optics: 8 lenses in 6 groups)

The lens is in nearly mint conditions (see picture, can send more just PM me). The only flaw it has, is a painting scratch on the bajonet mount, which was caused by an adapter. This scratch has no influence on functionallity and can't be seen when the lens is mounted to a camera. All lenses are scratch and dust(!) free. The iris is free of oil, all mechanical parts are working smooth and precise and the iris ring snapps in firmly. At all time the lens was handled with great care and stored accordingly.

Would you believe, bigger than an entire galaxy? At the January 2014 meeting of the American Astronomical Society, researchers revealed a patch of sky seen through a lens more than 500,000 light years wide.

The “lens” is actually a massive cluster of galaxies known as Abell 2744. As predicted by Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity, the mass of the cluster warps the fabric of space around it. Starlight passing by is bent and magnified, much like an ordinary lens except on a vastly larger scale.

Lately, the Hubble Space Telescope, along with the Spitzer Space Telescope and the Chandra X-ray Observatory, has been looking through this gravitational lens as part of a program called “Frontier Fields.” Auroras Underfoot (signup)

“Frontier Fields is an experiment to explore the first billion years of the Universe’s history,” says Matt Mountain from the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, Maryland. The question is, “Can we use Hubble’s exquisite image quality and Einstein’s theory of general relativity to search for the first galaxies?”

The answer seems to be “yes.” At the AAS meeting, an international team led by astronomers from the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias and La Laguna University discussed Hubble and Spitzer observations of the Abell 2744 cluster. Among the results was the discovery of one of the most distant galaxies ever seen—a star system 30 times smaller yet 10 times more active than our own Milky Way. Bursting with newborn stars, the firebrand is giving astronomers a rare glimpse of a galaxy born not long after the Big Bang itself.

Overall, the Hubble exposure of Abell2744 revealed almost 3,000 distant galaxies magnified as much as 10 to 20 times larger than they would normally appear. Without the boost of gravitational lensing, almost all of those background galaxies would be invisible.

Abell 2744 is just the beginning. Frontier Fields is targeting six galaxy clusters as gravitational lenses. Together, they form an array of mighty telescopes capable of probing the heavens as never before.
