Based on cages initially built by hand, this next generation cage will be CNC'd and even more feature-rich than the previous generations, as well as incredibly light weight and well-balanced!

While the design is nearly complete, I am still open to ideas and suggestions people here might have. We addressed many of the issues often experienced with other cages on the market and added a few extra features never before seen such as a relocatable grip option!

Royalty free music for Indies https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6763/royalty-free-music-for-indies Sun, 21 Apr 2013 19:41:52 +0000 DrDave 6763@/talks/discussions We are revisiting the idea of creating royalty free music. This music can be used by anyone from high school teachers to indie film makers. What makes it royalty free? As you may know, copyrights are complicated. For example, you can give away the rights to a performance, but the actual music score may have rights attached to it. You can't record the song of another artist, and then claim you own it.

When we looked at this topic about eight years ago, we thought the Magnatune system was the way to go (disclaimer: we release our recordings on Magnatune). On Magnatune, you keep all the rights to your "CD" as we used to call an album, but they distribute it. You get half, they get half. Half is way more than I got from the big labels, and Magnatune is a great label. We still OWN all of our tracks. AS a filmmaker, you could (and still can) license the tracks for really dirt cheap, and, again, the creator got a dollar or so, depending. We figured, no one is going to balk at a few dollars for a sound track that would cost thousands to produce. We figured wrong. People did use the license feature, but not in the waves that we expected.

Well, as it turns out, people have this "must be free" attitude, which in a way is a driving force of the internet--no one wanted to pay the artists, even though they themselves are artists. So rather than rant about how ridiculous this is, we are starting a different model, and we can see that others are doing the same thing.

The new model is to just give it all away, free, and raise the money to produce it through Kickstarter or something similar. You can see our Kickstarter project here. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/301451197/bach-brandenburg-concertos-the-great-works-project

Once it is done, ppl can use the soundtrack. It may not be what you are looking for, but it will be free :) You'll notice that the music is old, like really old. That way, it is solidly in the public domain. Composers of course can create new scores and using for example Creative Commons we can record newer music as well. We have some new music projects in the works right now.

Lenzhound kickstarter project wireless follow focus https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/8860/-lenzhound-kickstarter-project-wireless-follow-focus Sat, 23 Nov 2013 12:16:06 +0000 peaceonearth 8860@/talks/discussions

Simply slide the DB-1 Motor Unit onto your camera's 15mm rod support system, slip on the lens belt, adjust tension and lock into place. (There's a stretch-goal for 19mm rods too.) Plug in the battery and with a flip of a switch, you're ready to go.

This system will work with virtually any DSLR lens with a manual lens ring on the market. (See our FAQ for lens compatibility)

The color timing is not done, and the voiceover is placeholder, but is the general structure working for you? Do you feel like we should give more technical details about the product on the video? Thanks for your time

Friends from PV, help me on Kickstarter! https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/13244/friends-from-pv-help-me-on-kickstarter Sat, 20 Jun 2015 09:42:07 +0000 aaronchicago 13244@/talks/discussions Hi everyone. I just launched a Kickstarter for short film I want to create based off of Johnny Jewel's (Chromatics) Symmetery. It's a full blown movie score that was originally going to be used in Drive. I'm not asking for much ($4,000). Everything will go toward location fees, wardrobe, makeup, etc. The unique part of this process is that I'm laying out the score FIRST. Then conceiving the story. Storyboarding. And finally shooting. Check out the video to see some images that will inspire the story. Thanks!

Fear of Girls Web Series Episode 4 Kickstarter https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7649/fear-of-girls-web-series-episode-4-kickstarter Wed, 31 Jul 2013 22:22:37 +0000 Brian202020 7649@/talks/discussions So a good friend of mine Director Ryan Wood is doing a Kickstarter for the next episode in his popular web series Fear of Girls. If he gets the funding, which I'm sure he will since it isn't even 24 hours yet and he's 1/3 there, I will be shooting it on the BMCC MFT and BMPCC. Check it out especially if you're into the whole RPG thing. There are 3 episodes (I didn't shoot any of them, but was the first AC on the third one) and they are funny, witty, and entertaining. All three episodes are on the Kickstarter page. If you like what you see and want to see a forth episode, back his Kickstarter, you can donate as little as $1 if you want. Thanks.

Would it be possible to hack a pair of glass? I just sent an email to the google glass employees asking if they would support a kickstarter project that focused on enhancing (hacking) the camera aspect of glass.

Anyways, here are the specs:

Kickstarter for audio capture and post-production tutorial. https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/9948/kickstarter-for-audio-capture-and-post-production-tutorial. Sun, 23 Mar 2014 03:28:30 +0000 arum 9948@/talks/discussions I got the previous tutorial about audio these dudes made and I was pleased with it. It was easier to get and more entertaining than reading Jay Rose's book on sound capture (it also covers noticeably less stuff, but definitely covers what I thought was most important).

Maybe there are other people in this forum that would be interested.

Griffin and Gretchen (Web Series) https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6868/griffin-and-gretchen-web-series Wed, 01 May 2013 20:10:56 +0000 Mckinise 6868@/talks/discussions As many of you know I have created a Kickstarter to get my feature length motion picture into theaters. Yes, we will be paying to have it shown. If interested you can check it out at

http://Angelsaliensandmonsters.com

Anyway, a couple months ago I wrote, produced, directed, and starred in a short film. It was originally supposed to be a web series, but fate intervened.

Project Name: Griffin and Gretchen Duration: 3: 25 Seconds (Episode 1) Camera: Canon T2i

Story: First time directing with a first time DP. We had one day to shoot both episodes before the snowstorm hit.

We tiered the production to have actors arrive at specific times so we could make the most of the day. Didn't happen. Only one actor was on time, and that actor was the one scheduled for late afternoon. Needless to say we ended up way behind schedule.

Part One is more or less complete. Part Two missed the second half of the story. We ended up splicing together what we had to create a somewhat sensible story.

Production: So many mistakes. White balance was completely off. The sound was in cam, and a T2i will not win any awards for breath taking audio.

Editing was an adventure. It was too dark, too dark, too noisy, too quiet.

Overall: We learned quite a bit.

Very cool kickstarter project, video shot with gh3 https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6786/very-cool-kickstarter-project-video-shot-with-gh3 Tue, 23 Apr 2013 18:32:25 +0000 kupchenpo 6786@/talks/discussions I shot this kickstarter video for my good friends out in San Francisco a couple months ago with a gh3. It launched today. It's a very cool product and a great business model. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/332999904/the-siva-cycle-atom-powering-your-life-one-pedal-a?ref=email Unfortunately they don't have a paid Vimeo account, so it's only 720. Comments, critiques, etc are welcome. I love to learn and grow as a film maker through the constructive criticism of my peers. Shot with Pana 12-35, Rokinon 25mm 1.4, and Zeiss 85mm 1.4.

Mulberry - Short Film https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3719/mulberry-short-film- Fri, 29 Jun 2012 01:12:16 +0000 apriori 3719@/talks/discussions Hello all,

This August I'll be directing a short film titled Mulberry, based on a true story about a young black man's struggle against racism in a Florida phosphate mine of the 1940s. We'll be shooting with 3 hacked GH2s (I'm a Sedna AQ1 man), using primarily Oly 12mm and Panny 7-14mm glass (we'll have a 25mm and tele zoom on hand as well). I plan on posting footage/stills and sharing relevant production experiences in this topic.

We've launched a Kickstarter campaign this week, and have been fortunate enough to have been selected as a Staff Pick. You can learn about the film on our project page, linked below, which includes a synopsis, video pitch, cast and crew head shots, and some storyboards. Feel free to share our link far and wide, but please defer any pledges to @Vitaliy_Kiselev and @driftwood, whose work has saved my production thousands of dollars. They'll both be receiving a 'Special Thanks' in our end credits as well.

http://kck.st/Lzxn8I

On that note, I'm happy to answer questions about Kickstarter or crowdfunding in general. It's a learning process, but our pledge rate is exceeding our initial expectations. Running a Kickstarter campaign is a TON of work and can be emotionally draining. I'm optimistic, but the 'producer hat' still fits a little awkwardly on this introverted writer-directer :)

The biggest lesson I've learned in the first three days: whatever you do, make sure potential backers know their pledged monies WON'T BE CHARGED until AFTER THE DEADLINE, and ONLY IF the funding goal is reached. And if they seem like they understand the process, explain it again! Early momentum is crucial, and many of my contacts delayed pledging due to mistakenly believing the funds would be transferred from their account immediately. They understood the all-or-nothing aspect, but mistakenly assumed their pledges would be charged instantly like any other online transaction.

That's it for now, but I'll update as my campaign progresses.

UPDATE***

After a successful Kickstarte
