Issues discovered with the ned DJI Wireless Mic2 - Audio problems https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/28021/issues-discovered-with-the-ned-dji-wireless-mic2-audio-problems Sun, 21 Jan 2024 21:27:30 +0000 EspenB 28021@/talks/discussions Among the tons of glowing Mic2 reviews from the usual "influencer" suspects, there have now been a few videos with a different take.

First of all: of all the Mic2 vs Røde Wireless Pro comparisons the Mic2 sound noticeable worse, dull as well as other issues. But the features man...

Some mics seems to be duller sounding and more "muffled" in quality than other copies.

Anyway DJI now claims that there is a firmware bug in the Mic2 which causes the bad sound quality. Or at least some of them.

Clear difference in frequency response for different copies of the Mic2 transmitters built in microphones. If used with external mics no problems.

DJI Osmo Action

  • Sony IMX377 sensor (Hero7 Black has IMX277 with HDOL-HDR)
  • Ambarella H2 SOC
  • Lens 145 degree FOV
  • 4K/60

The only thing this adds compared to the Hero7 Black seems to be the front facing selfie screen.

While the Ambarella H2 SOC has 3D based image stabilization it's unlikely to compete fully with GoPro HyperSmooth.

Bluetooth for audio transmission, i.e. DJI Mic2 function in various phones, cameras, etc. https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/28019/bluetooth-for-audio-transmission-i.e.-dji-mic2-function-in-various-phones-cameras-etc. Sat, 20 Jan 2024 15:42:45 +0000 EspenB 28019@/talks/discussions Just curious why the heck the new DJI Mic2 transmitter with bluetooth audio will not connect to the GoPro Hero12.

Then again when I look at the list of supportet phones it's not so great either, while a lot of iPhones is listed the support for i.e. Samsung is only for devices which are a couple of years old. I.e. it works like a charm with my Samsung S22 Ultra, so no problems here.

So this begs the question if there is an issue with different / non supporting protocols / profiles?

It's not perfectly clear to me if protocol and profile are the same thing, or not?

From the documentattions:

DJI Mic2 transmitter supports bluetooth protocol BR / EDR (basic rate / enhanced data rate).

GoPro Hero12 supports HFP / HSP profile ( Hands Free Profile, Headset Profile).

That said the documentation for the Hero12 clearly shows that the BT audio is targeted at headsets: https://community.gopro.com/s/article/HERO12-Black-Bluetooth-Headset-Support?language=en_US

Documentation for DJI Mic2 and mobile phone compatibility list: https://dl.djicdn.com/downloads/DJI_Mic_2/compatibility%20list/DJI%20Mic%202-%20Mobile%20Phone%20Compatibility%20List_EN.pdf

And; while the DJI Mic2 works with their own products like Pocket 3 and Action 4, it also seem to be supported by the latest Insta360 AcePro action cam. So clearly not a DJI exclusive support either.

So finally my question; is it probable that the GoPro BT audio is implemented in a way which will not be compatible with the latest DJI Mic2 transmitter?

DJI Lidar support for Lumix GH5M2 and GH6 with DJI RS3 Pro gimbal https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/27927/dji-lidar-support-for-lumix-gh5m2-and-gh6-with-dji-rs3-pro-gimbal Tue, 24 Oct 2023 11:29:03 +0000 EspenB 27927@/talks/discussions Great. But not.

So.... RS3 Pro is $900 and the Lidar module is $600, a whopping total of $1500. I have a few DJI gimbals, RS2 and RS3 Mini, which both can't support the Lidar module, so this is a toss. Also the RS3 Pro is a heavy and large gimbal which supports up to 4.5 kg payload. Overkill for most GHx cases. So, I can get the PDAF focus G9M2 in a few weeks for a few 100's more and use on my RS3 Mini and get the added benefits of the latest sensor performance and processing. As well as the more light weight gimbal. It really doesn't add up for me personally. And hoping for a GH7 announcement soon in any case.

This Lidar stuff would have been super like 5 years ago.

Undoubtedly someone which owns both the GH6 and the DJI RS3 Pro would find this more exiting news I would guess.

November 15, 2016 – DJI, the world leader in unmanned aerial technology, Tuesday introduced two new drones that raise the bar for professional imaging: Inspire 2, the best ready-to-fly platform for high-end film and video creators, and Phantom 4 Pro, the smartest and most creative flying camera of its size.

“Professional filmmakers and photographers always push to create images that have never been seen before, and DJI never stops trying to give them the tools to achieve their vision,” said DJI CEO and Founder Frank Wang. “Our newest flight platforms and stabilized aerial cameras are smarter, faster and more powerful than ever before. We can’t wait to see how creators use Inspire 2 and Phantom 4 Pro to capture dazzling images.”

Professional Imaging

Phantom 4 Pro offers a powerful imaging system for professional photo and video creators as well as non-professionals who demand excellence from the camera and platform they use to pursue their creative visions. The camera now packs a 1-inch 20-megapixel sensor, and almost 12 stops of dynamic range bring out levels of detail and low-light performance unprecedented in a flying camera of this size. Its mechanical shutter eliminates rolling shutter distortion in fast-moving scenes. Phantom 4 Pro can capture slow-motion 4K video up to 60 fps at a maximum bitrate of 100 mbps. In addition, the Phantom 4 Pro offers H.265 video compression, which substantially improves video quality at the same bitrate.

Reliable with Enhanced FlightAutonomy System

Phantom 4 Pro builds on DJI’s original obstacle avoidance system with FlightAutonomy – three sets of visual systems that build a 3D map of obstacles in front, behind and below the aircraft, as well as infrared sensing systems on both sides. FlightAutonomy can position, navigate and plan routes for Phantom 4 Pro, enabling it to avoid obstacles in a sensing range up to 98 feet at front and rear, even in complex 3D environments. When returning to home and tapping to initiate auto takeoff or landing, the Landing Protection function is able to detect and help avoid landing on uneven ground or water. Phantom 4 Pro has high-performance battery technology that provides up to 30 minutes of flight time. The Phantom 4 Pro flies at 31 mph in P mode with obstacle avoidance in effect, and has a 45 mph top speed in sport mode.

Professional Control with New Remote Controller

Phantom 4 Pro’s revolutionary new compact remote controller comes with an optional high luminance display, providing a clear and vivid live HD view from the main camera as well as essential telemetry data, even in direct sunlight. The aircraft will automatically choose between 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz once powering on to gain a clear signal in areas with high radio interference. The new controller has a built-in GPS, compass, Micro-SD card slot and HDMI port.

Intelligent Flight

New intelligent flight modes make Phantom 4 Pro the smartest flying camera of its size, opening new vistas for creators, such as the new Draw Mode that allows operators to draw lines on the controller display and direct the Phantom 4 Pro to fly that route.

ActiveTrack recognizes common subjects such as people and bikes, then follows them from any angle while maintaining camera focus, and includes three new modes – New Circle, Profile and Spotlight.

Narrow sensing enhances obstacle avoidance sensitivity so the aircraft can fly through complex environments like narrow doorways. TapFly now works backwards and comes with a new Free mode that allows a pilot to set the direction of flight, turn the Phantom 4 Pro or tilt the gimbal without changing the direction of flight. With the new AR Route feature, operators will be able to tell the flight route on the screen.

As an additional safety feature, within a minute of losing GPS signal, the aircraft will automatically return to the last connected position and hover there precisely to wait for the pilot’s command. With the enhanced return to home function, the aircraft knows where it should be going from up to 984 feet away and avoids obstacles along the route.

Price and Availability

Phantom 4 Pro’s U.S. retail price is $1,499 with a standard controller. The Phantom 4 Pro, which includes a Phantom 4 Pro aircraft, and a high luminance display remote controller, will be available at $1,799. Phantom 4 Pro and Phantom 4 Pro are immediately available for pre-order at dji.com/phantom-4-pro and DJI flagship stores in Shenzhen, Seoul and Hong Kong. These products will begin shipping one week after launch.

Advanced Imaging for Professional Results

Inspire 2 offers powerful capabilities and is easy to operate. The nimble new magnesium-aluminum alloy body increases stiffness while lowering weight. It has a top speed of 67 mph and takes only 4 seconds to accelerate to 50 mph. With the new dual battery system, flight time is up to 27 minutes. A new forward-facing camera offers the pilot the best flight view for operating the master controller, while the camera operator receives a separate feed from the professional Zenmuse camera mounted on the main gimbal. The Inspire 2 supports the brand-new Zenmuse X4S and X5S cameras and will support additional cameras in the future.

An entirely new image processing system, called CineCore 2.0, is embedded into the airframe, which allows processing large files faster than ever before. Inspire 2 captures 5.2K video at 4.2 Gbps for Adobe CinemaDNG RAW videos and leverages a newly-designed, fast CINESSD storage for a smooth work experience. A variety of video compression formats are supported by CineCore 2.0, including Adobe CinemaDNG, Apple ProRes 422 HQ (5.2K, 4K) and ProRes 4444 XQ (4K), H.264, and H.265. When recording 4K video in H.264 and H.265, the birate is up to 100Mbps.

Inspire 2 offers professional capability and control suitable for many scenarios. With optional high-altitude propellers, Inspire 2 can reach a maximum service ceiling of 16,404 feet above sea level, and the self-heating dual battery redundancy system maintains good performance of the battery to -4 degrees Fahrenheit. Through an optimized mode, Inspire 2 streams smooth video at the widely used 1080i50/720p60 broadcast standard. Enhanced Lightbridge video transmission makes smoother HDMI video possible.

High Performance and Professional Reliability

The dual-battery system ensures that if one battery fails during a flight, the other will be able to provide power for a safe return to home. Stereo vision sensors have been included on the front and bottom of Inspire 2 for obstacle detection, and upward facing infrared sensors on top of the aircraft add protection when flying in enclosed spaces.

The redesigned propulsion system can safely carry Inspire 2 through incredible vertical camera moves, climbing at almost 20 feet/second and descending at almost 30 feet/second. Redundant systems provide reliability for the IMU, barometer, electronic speed controller communication and satellite navigation modules. The master and slave controller range now extends to 328 feet and users can switch between 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz frequencies to cut through any noise for greater signal stability.

Creative Freedom

Inspire 2’s new intelligent flight modes expand DJI’s computer vision technology to safely fly routes that give creators new ways to capture what they envision. Spotlight Pro Mode locks onto a subject during flight while the aircraft flies freely in another direction – and automatically rotates the aircraft to stay on the shot if the gimbal reaches its rotational limit. The forward-facing camera offers TapFly, which directs Inspire 2 to any point on the screen while avoiding obstacles along the way. ActiveTrack recognizes common subjects such as people, cars and animals, sending Inspire 2 to follow behind, lead in front, circle above or track alongside while always flying forward, ensuring the forward-facing obstacle sensing system keeps the aircraft safe.

New Zenmuse Cameras

DJI is enhancing the imaging potential of the Inspire 2 by expanding its line of interchangeable Zenmuse cameras, which are designed for aerial imaging and communicate directly with the aircraft’s gimbal and flight controllers. For situations that require a balance between weight and image quality, the new Zenmuse X4S has a 1-inch, 20-megapixel sensor with 11.6 stops of dynamic range and a 24 mm equivalent focal length. The Zenmuse X4S offers aperture control (f2.8-11) and a mechanical shutter that cancels rolling shutter distortion. The new Zenmuse X5S has a larger Micro Four Thirds sensor with 20.8 megapixels and an incredible 12.8 stops of dynamic range. The Zenmuse X5S camera now supports 8 lenses from wide angles to zooms. It shoots 20fps continuous burst DNG RAW (20.8 MP). In the future, a handheld mount will be available for the Zenmuse X4S and X5S cameras, bringing those cameras down to the ground for more flexible filmmaking.

Professional Accessories to Enhance Performance

A series of powerful DJI accessories will meet the needs of operators under various filming conditions. DJI Focus, a battery charging station, DJI CINESSD, CINESSD station and other optional accessories are available.

An optional DJI Crystalsky high-brightness IPS monitor features an ultra-bright screen that is clearly visible in direct sunlight and ideal for outdoor shooting. It comes in 5.5-inch and 7.85-inch sizes, with the highest brightness up to 1000 cd/m2 and 2000 cd/m2 respectively, and its dedicated system reduces video transmission latency. Dual Micro-SD Card slots within the screen make it easy to back up footage and can also be used to transfer and play back files. It operates in extreme temperature conditions from -4 degrees to 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

Nebula Remote, making videos in your grasp https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/15120/nebula-remote-making-videos-in-your-grasp Wed, 25 May 2016 00:08:07 +0000 Avril_Lovin 15120@/talks/discussions Nowadays, making video has been more and more popular in our life. As many documentary and short films show, not only the producer but also the audience require a higher quality of filmmaking. We notice that some of the large radial and complicated tracks are too cumbersome to address the needs of shooting. Emerge as the new trend: compact, lightweight and easy to use, stabilizers are brought.

Handheld 3-axis stabilizer is a revolutionary product to the film industry. It is so light-weighted and user-friendly to create more possibilities for photographers during filmmaking and at mean time providing smooth videos. However, designs of 3-axis stabilizer cannot address the very crucial part: the bounces caused by photographers’ step while making videos. To solve this problem, the cutting-edge Nebula 4200 5-axis stabilizer has arrived.

With two spring arms, Nebula 4200 can absorb any vibrations and bounces under payload acting on the vertical axis and with different spring tension, the two spring arms are also able to filter part of the vibrations on horizontal axis. They are just like the vehicle suspension system which isolates road noise, bumps, and vibrations. Nebula 4200 as the terminator of stabilizer presents you a most smooth experience under the severe environment of recording.

And here comes a brilliant accessory for Nebula 4200 to make it the most powerful combination: our new product, Nebula Remote. No more complicated operation to control both your gimbal and camera with Nebula Remote. It can be quickly installed on gimbal's handle without tools and can be simply used by thumb to control your gimbal accurately and intuitively. Only one key to stop or continue motor's working, convenient for balancing, fine-tuning and power saving. OLED screen clearly shows the current status, including modes of gimbal, current voltage, battery power, angle of pitch axis and yaw axis and other information. By using the memory function, now it’s free to capture shots that are difficult or impossible. Every design makes filmmaking smoother and easier.

Nebula Remote is compatible with Nebula 4200/4100/4000/5200/6000. The video below is Nebula REMOTE function introduction.

The video below is the method of Nebula REMOTE.

Hope these can help you to understand the product.

DJI today announced the next evolution in its ground-breaking Phantom drone platforms – the Phantom 3.

With two variations, the Phantom 3 Professional and Phantom 3 Advanced, this new milestone in aerial innovation provides greater control and creative options from the sky.

Both Phantom 3 versions feature the strongest professional control features DJI has developed so far. Using DJI’s innovative Visual Positioning system, these Phantom 3 platforms can hold their positioning indoors without GPS and can easily take off and land with the push of a button.

Controllers for the Phantom 3 come paired with DJI’s Lightbridge technology, which allows pilots to see what the Phantom 3 camera is seeing in HD (720p) at a distances up to 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) with almost no latency.

“In developing the next generation Phantom, DJI remained committed to providing a top tier flight experience in one easy-to-use platform,” said DJI CEO Frank Wang. “We pride ourselves in creating a flying camera that fits in a backpack and can be ready to take professional quality videos from the sky in less than a minute.”

The Phantom 3 Professional is capable of shooting 4K video at up to 30 frames per second, while the Phantom 3 Advanced records at resolutions up to 1080p at 60 frames per second. These cameras are stabilized using 3-axis gimbals to keep the video smooth regardless of flight or wind conditions.

Both models shoot 12 megapixel photos using a 94⁰ FOV, distortion-free lens, and a high-quality, 1/2.3” sensor that is more sensitive to light than the sensor in previous Phantom 2 Vision models.

All camera settings, including ISO, shutter speed and exposure compensation, can be set using both the DJI Pilot app and the physical controls on the remote controllers. The DJI Pilot app also features a Phantom 3 flight simulator for virtually practicing aerial maneuvers, and a ‘Director’ feature, which automatically edits the best shots from flights into short videos that can be shared immediately after landing.

The upgraded app also allows pilots to livestream their flights to YouTube.

“Pilots, whether they are journalists, extreme athletes, or global travelers – will not just be able to share aerial videos of where they were, but will also be able to send a YouTube link to their friends and colleagues to show them the aerial perspectives of where they are right now,” said DJI’s San Francisco General Manager Eric Cheng. “This has tremendous potential for changing the way we share experiences with one another.”

North Thailand mountain trekking vlog - DJI OSMO + Rode VideoMicro https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/17112/north-thailand-mountain-trekking-vlog-dji-osmo-rode-videomicro Thu, 08 Jun 2017 02:47:22 +0000 NickHope 17112@/talks/discussions I've recently started making some vlogs of mountain treks in north Thailand; a completely new diversion from my usual underwater videos.

This is the latest one from the summit of Doi Pha Hom Pok, Thailand's 2nd-highest mountain, followed by a pleasant descent along the National Park's nature trail.

Shot with a DJI OSMO + Rode VideoMicro, and a Sony RX100 mk1, edited in VEGAS Pro. It was the first outing with the VideoMicro and I am very impressed, although it can be a bit limiting for dialog as it is so directional.

I would appreciate any feedback.

Beyond The Mountains - swiss aerial https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/15340/beyond-the-mountains-swiss-aerial Mon, 11 Jul 2016 07:12:18 +0000 Luc00 15340@/talks/discussions Hello

I would like to present you our new movie. We had just four days for filming in swiss on 9 different locations. It was pretty amazing going up to 3000 meters and start filming with a drone. Everything was shot with an DJI Inspire 1 RAW with the X5R camera. Filming with this system is pretty nice but backup all the footage after made us go crazy. DJI is using their own data partition on the SSD and you are unable to just copy&paste via Mac or Windows. You have to use "Cinelight" which needs up to 4 hours to backup 350gb of footage. No way to do backups on the way.

Well, making this movie was fun and a great experience. We hope you like it.

Best

Five axis gimbal-The terminator of Steadicam https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/15215/five-axis-gimbal-the-terminator-of-steadicam Tue, 14 Jun 2016 02:09:40 +0000 Avril_Lovin 15215@/talks/discussions In the early 1970s, a commercial director and also producer named Garrett Brown began to explore a new system to avoid the jitter while shooting videos. He intended to create a high portable device not only separating the camera from photographers but improving the balance of the camera to reduce vibrations and shaking as well.

This goal was achieved in 1973, by inventing the simple but innovative machine – Brown stabilizer (later renamed: Steadicam).

At that time, Steadicam attracted a large number of users for its low cost and simple structure.

Buy as the rapid developing of science and technology, emerged the shortcoming of Steadicam.

Although Steadicam has made great differences, there are many restrictions to the detriment of current photography needs. Such as Steadicam is too big to be used for narrow scene, and too heavy for long shot. And the fatal weakness is the difficulties for beginners to start in a short time trial, users must take a long time of training to familiar with Steadicam and use it well. With wrong posture, it is counter-productive to keep stable. Still, usually we need to spend a long time on Steadicam for adjustment and balancing.

Now, the cutting-edge Nebula 4200 5-axis stabilizer has arrived to end the 50-year history of Steadicam. You have to admit that the lightweight and compact stabilizer more suits our needs for its user-friendly and excellent stability.

However, designs of 3-axis stabilizer cannot address the very crucial part: the bounces caused by photographers’ step while making videos. To solve this problem, Nebula 4200 5-axis greatly integrated the traditional advantages of Steadicam and the latest technologies of gyroscope stabilizer.

image

Turned the standard notion of 50-year Steadicam’s structure, 5-axis spring arm is Nebula’s original design, inspired by the damping system of F1 racing cars. Nebula 4200 is known as the only mould-casting gyroscope stabilizer in the world. All parts of this innovative product are made of metal.

image

The effect of double spring arm in contraposition is both rebound and absorbing. But the mass of stabilizer and camera appropriately maintains inertial. Except the intentional tremor, the two spring arms of 4200 can absorb any vibrations and bounces under payload acting on the vertical axis. With this kind of buffer, Nebula 4200 reduces vibration, retards speed, makes shooting more smooth even facing hard bumps.

image

They are just like the vehicle suspension system, on the one hand isolates road noise, bumps, and vibrations, on the other hand provides enough sustenance for stabilizing car body while making a turn. Besides vertical axis, with different spring tension, the two spring arms are also able to filter part of the vibrations on horizontal axis. That’s why we call as 5-axis.

Two dovetails are added on spring arm, to show the flexibility of combinations. The standard 1/4 screw hole also makes it easy to carry most of the photography accessories. Every detail we designed is for filmmakers in search of 2 “P”s: professional and possibilities.

Double spring arm in contraposition turns the standard notion of spring arms in line, in order to spread bounces caused by photographers’ step while moving over two handles. Thus perfectly reduces the jitter and jerking and improves users’ manipulation of stabilizers.
