Wed, 02 May 2012 23:54:44 +0000 JayB38 3088@/talks/discussions With all the talk of "anamorphic" and achieving the widescreen look, what do you think of dslr camera or video cameras giving the options of both 1920x1080 and 1920x810 - particularly that of the Samsung NX dslr cameras. I think it would (I don't know) solve all the pros/cons of achieving the widescreen/anamorphic look. I've wondered as to why we're still into the 16:9 mode in the first place since most films are mosly 1.85:1 to 2.40:1.

I hope I'm not making this an unnecessary post.

a nice thought though, I can dream can I?

Super Sharp ISCO Anamorphic + GH4 + 4kUHD https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/12710/super-sharp-isco-anamorphic-gh4-4kuhd Tue, 31 Mar 2015 15:47:42 +0000 stucameraman1 12710@/talks/discussions I found a bit of free time to try out this camera & lens combo. The super sharp ISCO Anamorphic Ultra Star (2x squeeze) and my GH4 shooting at 4kUHD. The video file has been re compressed 3 times including youtubes compression. Try to watch in HD.
My base lens that the ISCO was screwed onto was my good old manual Olympus 50mm f1.8 (OM) EXTRA INFO - because my Olympus 50mm was adapted for a canon mount i also had a Canon to M43 adapter fitted to the GH4. Picture profile was CineLike-D. 4k Footage was imported and edited in Davinci Resolve 11 Lite. When exporting from the 4k timeline to a Mp4 master file the blacks were pulled down slightly, even when i had the correct export setting like 'DATA' value instead of 'VIDEO' value, so the footage should have been Flatter looking. Thanks for watching.

(-3,1,-3) Including some tighter shots for comparison. Hyperfocal distance is tiny at these focal lengths. Cylindrical distortion is normal at these focal lengths. Ultra Wide Anamorphic will come later on Canon 5D

Rare baby Hypergonar cinemascope anamorphic lens for sale https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/9139/rare-baby-hypergonar-cinemascope-anamorphic-lens-for-sale Thu, 19 Dec 2013 05:13:18 +0000 ehsanm 9139@/talks/discussions I am going to sell my baby hypergonar cinemascope lens. Allegedly, 50 units of these gems- 52 grams, 1.8 oz.- made around 1960s by Henri Chrétien before selling the rights of his optical patent to 20th Fox on late 60’s. With spectacular images quality, exceptional anamorphic flares, small size and ease of use, this tiny beast is –and will remain to be- hard to compete in the whole anamorphic world. Optically, the glass is in very good condition, exceptional for its age. There are minimal signs of use but nothing to affect the quality of the image. The price is $2500 but you are welcome to submit if you have an offer. Please check these samples to see what you can do with this baby:

Anamorphics For Sale - Sunday Only - Cheap! https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3963/anamorphics-for-sale-sunday-only-cheap Wed, 18 Jul 2012 19:11:13 +0000 BobbyMcDonald 3963@/talks/discussions I could really use some quick cash for an upcoming trip, so these two adapters are heavily discounted, only $199 each.

1) Sankor Compact Anamorphic - A 2x lens, focus scale marked 5' to Infinity with about 270 degree rotation. Glass is pristine, body is in great shape minus a scratch in the paint, mechanics seem in good order, though there is a small bump when you first start rotating the focus ring, like a hiccup... pretty small, but still there, could just be a loose screw or something. Will likely need a clamp to mount, unless you feel like drilling holes through the overhang of the lens barrel. Asking $199 + shipping.

2) Delft (Delrama) Vistascope - A 1.5X focus through comprised of a pair of mirrored prisms. They were tarnished, so I just had them sent off and re-silvered, should now be a factory fresh image. This is the rarer and easier to work with 16mm version (Marked "16mm f=600cm"). Body is in decent shape for a lens of it's age, there's definitely some paint wear and scratches. Glass is clean and clear. Comes with a series VI to 49mm step up ring as well as a 49-52mm step up ring. Only one caveat, at the moment I can't find the four screws to reassemble the body. Shouldn't be hard taking it to any hardware or camera repair shop to find the match, but I probably won't get to it for awhile, so I'm dropping the price $50 to compensate. Asking $199 + shipping.

Help with Soligor/generic 1.33 anamorphic lens. https://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/662/help-with-soligorgeneric-1.33-anamorphic-lens. Sat, 13 Aug 2011 08:52:33 +0000 Gabel 662@/talks/discussions Sharpness seems ok, especially with stuff at a distance. But this thing needs a diopter which brings me to my second point.

That damn lens hood! Firstly I'm a matte box user and that thing gets in the way. Secondly, it won't take filters. So I need to get a solution to this.
One is to get a new front, if these exist (the front says called DC-S HOOD 72mm).
The other is to remove the hood. Here was a guide on how to remove one from a Nikon lens and I'm guessing this technique would work here too though.

But it won't take filters. As I have yet to find any 4X4 diopters (I hear Tiffen makes them, but haven't been able to find them), but if these exist, this would work great.
Otherwise I could try to fit a filter holder on the front. The area around the lens is recessed as you can see, which I think could work to mount a step ring to get a filter gear.
But would it work to mount a diopter behind the lens? Then I could just get a 52mm one that I could mount in between the anamorphic lens and my lenses. This would mean I won't have to mount a step ring.]]>
