So as not to be misleading, ColorGHear is a system, and not so much a plug-in... a school of thought supported through the ColorGHear Toolkit -which is a set of MODULAR PRESETS for After Effects and ColorGHear Pro - which is a set of MODULAR LUTs for Davinci Resolve, FCP7, Premiere Pro, and Adobe Speedgrade, and is not what you'd consider a classical style plug-in.

The toolkit isn't a collection of drag and drop "looks" like Magic Bullet. It is a series of nodes which contain a set of grading instructions or "macros" (a set of operations), specially designed to work with each other to speed up your workflow. Along with these nodes, comes a system of grading which replaces having to perform the minutia of individual corrections by hand. Learned through the online tutorials, this system will give you speedy and precise grades. It is this precision that prevents you from "bending" your images like with standard methods which is what allows me to get such drastic and dramatic grades from normally flimsy DSLR codecs.

As a professional colorist, I noticed that because of the way the color channels in RGB video are tied together; that typical methods like the Color Balance tool, and the 3-way Color Corrector will actually bend an RGB image out of shape. So in order to maximize the full potential of any given image, I had to learn a method of grading that would avoid damaging the footage. I called this method "precision grading."

I also noticed that in executing these precision grades, I was performing the same operations over and over. I began taking notes on what these operations were, and trying to determine if it were possible to create a set of interacting preset nodes that would save me time in having to repeatedly perform these operations.

I soon discovered 37 distinct sets of operations that would serve to correctly grade any, and all footage. 6 of these macros cancel each other out, and only 1 of those 6 could be effectively used at any given time leaving me with 32 nodes - giving me 1,024 possible combinations. Over a thousand distinct grades. Over time, I added some other tools to the set which now sits at 74 nodes all of which are designed to be used in conjunction with the other nodes. (69, if you subtract the 5 canceling nodes) which brings the total to 4,761 distinct grades.

The precision method I mention above is demonstrated here. Along with how the 3-way Color Corrector damages your footage.

Adobe is pulling all old app versions from the cloud

It seems Adobe will pull all old versions of applications that can use video data in any way (even Photoshop,...) from the cloud and makes it clear, that users that continue to use them will get into legal trouble. Reason: third party licenses.

I wonder if all this is again because of Cinema DNG and RAW video formats (e.g. Photoshop can work with CDNG).

HKC B6000/B7000 - 25inch/27inch 2k IPS Monitor - $340

So normally I'm pretty selfish about these things. If I find something super awesome floating out among the interwebs, I tend to keep them to myself until I've made sure I've had my fill. Having said that, I actually bit the bullet (since I already had 2 very solid ips panels, 1 decent ultrawide ips, and one super cheap ips panel), and bought myself the 25" B6000. If you can find the B7000 in stock somewhere, good for you. I'm always searching for stuff, so I always find all this random stuff on places like Gearbest, or Lightinthebox, or Banggood. Most of it is untested and have little to no reviews, but for certain things I'm willing to be the guinea pig. In the case of the HKC B6000, the sleekness and alleged specs seemed way too awesome for the price.

After some painstaking Google Translate and tons of research, I managed to find some fantastic reviews of the monitor. They were all in a foreign language (which to me is pretty much anything that isn't English), but after translating the pages made me believe that this may actually be a fantastic purchase. Yes you can find 2k ips monitors for cheaper than this, but not sleeker. This is actually a giant chunk of metal. I've had the monitor for about 3 weeks now and my un-technical review is the following: I definitely plan on picking up a spydercolor elite or something to calibrate the monitor. That being said, according to the specs page and many reviews (which I'll post below this blurb), this is a 10bit monitor with 99% Adobe RGB. From what I've seen, the display is amazing and the color is fantastic, but at the same time since I haven't calibrated my monitors, I'm not sure which colors are off. Once I do that, I'll have a better review. In terms of bezel, this thing actually has picture-accurate thin bezel. I thought the bezel on the Viewsonic VX2370SMH was very good, but this is much thinner. As I mentioned before, this is one seamless piece of metal, so it is not a light monitor in any fashion. It also tends to run hotter than monitors in plastic housings, but I haven't run into any overheating issues yet and I don't think it's an issue. The menu does come in Chinese, I believe. No disrespect, I just don't know the differences between those languages and I don't mean to insult anyone with my ignorance on the topic. You can change the language to English. If I missed anything, please feel free to comment and I'll try to respond in a reasonable time. In the meantime, enjoy these reviews and images. Most of these contain detailed color analysis of the monitors. Again, none of these reviews are in English, so translate if necessary.

Hello, during rendering with gpu-related efects (procamp, lumetri, MB looks,...) GPU is idle 0-20% of load when CPU is running all at 100% load all the time. Is that caused by non-official cuda support for gtx980 in PPCC ? Last PPCC 2015.3, fresh drivers on GPU and MOBO and of course CUDA Playback/render activated I am actually thinking about buying one gtx780ti for cuda work Thank you

Tried to capture the essence of the fun, up-tempo and a bit melancholy synth-pop of the 80'ies. The decade I loved so much. I made this with a lot of old gear for the music Rolands, Korgs and Yamaha DX of course. Shot on the Sony A6000 with the kit-lens and the 55mm 1.8. Some shots are with the iPhone 6 and a 4K hack to get some movement going.

Did anyone try that? Do color information really improve?

I am specially interested in the conversion to achieve the 4.4.4. as mentioned here: "Downscaling and transcoding to ProRes or CineForm at 1080p can convert the RGB 4K data from the GH4’s 4K 100Mbit/s codec to the higher bit depth of 10bit and colour sampling of 4:4:4."

There are various product types such as GoPro Studio (Premium, Professional, etc.) available. Which would I need and how would the workflow be with Premiere Pro CC 2015?

Hi all, I have searched for existing answers to this question/issue all over this site and google, but have yet to find anyone with the answer:

I have the FZ1000 but I hear the problem is the same for GH4:

I can currently only playback individual 4k clips in camera over HDMI to a 4k TV, but I wish to make an edit and play it back...

Is it possible, once I have edited a 4k Video, to make it playable in camera so that the edit can be displayed over HDMI on a 4K TV or monitor?

Many Thanks for any solutions, as my friend has a 4K TV and I have a FZ100 so we would like to be able to playback an edit in camera over HDMI so that we can watch my work..?

Adobe premiere AUDIO DROP OUTS

I have searched far and wide to the far reaches of the internet and came up with nothing.

This has been a problem with adobe premiere as long as I can remember and still in the brand new CC version I am still getting audio drop outs randomly.

It is very random and can happen at any time the audio will drop out, then come back in and then go out again. If I stop playback and re-start, it will play for a little while and do it again.

I have tried changing every setting I possibly can within premiere and within my system and I am at a complete loss.

It is making it impossibly to do any editing

PLEASE HELP ME :(

Recommendations for Editing Stations under $3K?

It looks like we don't have a topic for NLE editing stations.

I'm looking to invest in a new computer editing station with dual monitors. I'm looking at Premiere CS5.5 as my main NLE. I don't want to spend more than $3,000 (and preferably not too much more than $2,500). EDIT: I'm specifically looking at getting a PC but discussion about mac or hackintosh are okay too!

I'm guessing some people are in or will be in my situation in the future, so let's start a thread to think of options and recommendations. Ideas? (let's also not turn this into a flame war of mac vs pc vs linux, or fcp vs adobe vs avid!)

Motion Tracking SDK for developing Adobe Premiere Plug-In needed

Hello, for our next Adobe Premiere Pro Plug-In we would like to integrate a motion tracking feature. Has anyone a recommendation for a motion tracker? I spoke to imageneer systems and they have a SDK for mocha, but this is really expensive. I want to track objects directly in Premiere Pro and our tool will be developed in C++.

I would prefer not to use a stand-alone software or maybe mocha in AE and export the data from there into our plug-in which would be really easy, but to integrate it directly.

Colors getting change as soon as timeline is open for export. I need help. I had the same issue last year and I ended up with fresh system installed. I could not find out what was cousin this issue but fresh osx instal helps and everything was OK. I wasn't to exited to install everything again today and after all it did not help. Exported video looks washed out like in export window. especially reds-became yellow (visible on picture below). I tried open PP project and export in AE - same result. Any Ideas?

Premiere Pro CS6 reducing resolution of all exported video

So this is the first I've seen this happen and I can't find any info online. Basically when I export a project in premiere I get severe aliasing and overall reduced resolution, no matter what setting. Exporting 1080p in MP4, DNxHD, uncompressed AVI all give the same results, resolution that's closer to 720p than 1080p. The odd thing is I've compared the out of camera MTS files (and even the DNxHD converted files used in the project) to the outputted files from Premiere, and they look totally normal. I'm using a GH2 with Drewnet T9 and it's been great but this is really stumping me.

My current workflow is: MTS files into AE > converted to 2.33 aspect ratio (1920x824) DNxHD format > footage imported and edited within Premiere Pro > exported as 175 bit DNxHD 1920x1080 master file. Note that the 2.33 conversion is strictly letterboxing via composition settings in AE and not altering the pixel dimensions (as those 1920x824 files don't show the pixilation).

One thing I noticed was that when I expand the video feed in Premiere it shows the pixilation that's outputted in the final format, but I wrote that off as simply being reduced resolution for real time playback that wouldn't translate to the final video. Also the preview remains pixilated even with no effects applied (only effects on clips are quick color corrector, Neat Video, and shadows/highlights).

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I've included a still of the 175 bit DNxHD final video, and a matching frame of the original MTS file straight from the camera. Ignore the top and bottom margins, but look at the high contrast lines like on the Marshal logo, and the metal frame of the B-52 amp below it.
