Bowens International plans to showcase 'OmniRig' on its Limelite videography and broadcast stand at the NAB show Las Vegas (April 8-11).

In what will be a pioneering move for the multi award-winning lighting manufacturer, visitors will be invited to 'test drive' the new product and assess its potential, ahead of any final decision by Bowens to move ahead with full production.

The Limelite OmniRig has been invented by cutting edge film-maker Leonard Retel Helmrich and developed to prototype stage by Bowens.

Tim Haskell, Limelite business development manager and videography/broadcast specialist said: "This new rig has been painstakingly developed to suit the ‘single shot cinema’ shooting technique pioneered by Leonard. Whereas other camera supports are designed for relatively short-term, single-handed operation, or designed to be body worn by the operator, this new rig is specifically engineered for two-handed operation.

Leonard's 'single shot cinema' style allows long and uninterrupted takes to be filmed from multiple positions by allowing full movement freedom to different camera viewpoint positions. Unlike any other camera stabilisation system the patented twin-grip arrangement we have developed allows operators to pass the camera and rig from one user to another during filming for extended multi-point takes - giving viewers a unique perspective. It’s radical and unlike any other shooting style.

The OmniRig’s two-handed operation creates less operator fatigue than comparable single-handed support systems, allowing longer takes to be filmed before the user needs to rest."

Bowens International launched its Limelite commercial subdivision last year to service the burgeoning videography and broadcast market.

  • GAMECHANGER! Exactely like the MoVI, another device to create stunning midget point of view shots...

  • I don't know anything about that Limelight company but just by browsing their website I see they sell alot of over priced rebranded stuff. No a big fan of that. I see a 7" lilliput monitor I now use as a monitoring panel that I bought for under $200. They are selling the exact same thing for $450! I'm so in the wrong business!! :)

  • Looks interesting and spartan enough to be priced closer to my budget than the MOVi. Per the quote below, it appears that this item isn't in production yet, so price may be undetermined at this time.

  • So much warp stabilizer on the two samples... highly skeptical of this one.

  • @vicharris I was noting the same thing! I forecast they are going to sell this functional but minimal rig for over 1k :(

  • i like it,
