  • As reported in the Power On mailing list, the new M1X-based MacBook Pro will arrive next month. Typically, Apple held Mac-related events in October or early November, for example - in early November last year, the first laptops based on the Apple M1 platform were introduced.

According to Gurman, there will be two variants of the chipset, both with 10-core CPUs. Eight cores in them are high-performance, and two are energy efficient. The difference between the options is in the graphics solutions used. M1X will be presented with 16 or 32 graphics cores. Additionally, Gourmet said the company is working on high-performance platforms for the Mac Pro, as well as an M2 chipset for the MacBook Air, iMac and cheaper MacBook Pro.

  • Bloomberg's Mark Gurman understands the chips for the widely expected 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models have surfaced in developer app logs under the names "M1 Pro" and "M1 Max." It's not certain Apple will use these names for its high-end silicon, but they suggest Apple won't go with M1X or otherwise echo the naming scheme used for souped-up A-series chips.

Earlier rumors have hinted at two processors destined for the new MacBook Pros. Both would include 10 cores (eight high-performance, two high-efficiency). An 'entry' version would include a 16-core GPU, while the higher-end model would pack a 32-core GPU.

Notebooks can have cut for usual and face recognition camera. Apple for long time plan to collect 3d face maps of all stationary computer users.

One thing that I heard is that soon software protection will be directly attached to individual and such camera, so no other people will be able to use software and will require additional licenses.

  • MacRumors contributor Steve Moser has discovered a new “High Power Mode” in the operating system’s recent beta release that can “optimize performance to better support resource intensive tasks” .

  • Shipping estimates on the Apple Store for new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro pre-orders have started sliding into late November and early December.

  • That cut in the screen looks horrible!

  • F*ck Apple, reintroducing standard ports and magsafe power plug... I was forced to get a 2020 powerbook and loathe the 2 USB-C limit... plus it is damn slow

    In short:

    • SSD is unrepairable (as it is encrypted), if it fails - get new laptop
    • CPU is unrepairable due to very complex structure and lack of parts
    • DRAM is now unrepairable as it is soldered on microballs near CPU
    • power controller is proprietary and needs used motherboard to fix
    • all you can do is replace battery in service, some ports and fans.

    Savings are small, but still.

  • Apple released brand new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros this fall, powered by Apple's powerful M1 Pro and M1 Max chips. However, now, just over a month after the launch of new products, users of the older model began to complain about problems with charging the device.

Users who have encountered the problem report that it occurs when trying to charge a fully discharged or turned off MacBook Pro. In this case, the LED on the charging cable repeatedly lights up and goes out, at the same time, the laptop plays a sound every time that the charging process has started. This does not start charging the device.

The problem is specific to 16-inch MacBook Pros using a 140-watt charger. A solution to the problem was never found.

  • I have the new 16” and had the problem. The solution is to plug the charger cable on the computer before shutdown it.

  • New Intel chips compared to M1 Max
