It can be reached using Cineform-like wavelet transforms. It's a bit lossy, but usable. You can see Cineform sources here: https://github.com/gopro/cineform-sdk

Other option can be use HEVC for static images (ala Apple is doing for stills).

So it will be same as that RED did using JPEG2000 to compress raw planes.
