Microsoft hardens disabling Windows Defender
  • image

Special registry key no longer work since August Windows 10 update.

Disabling antivirus with usual switch is very limited - it still runs, still do various things and like to enable by itself if Windows feels like it.

Of course, this thing also sends lot of info about software and other files to Microsoft and their partners.

You can still disable it with Group Policy, but it is hard for usual user to do such, and usually useful for corporate versions.

Microsoft movement to subscription model is near, rumors are that move will be synchronized with Appple Max OS X.

Rumored prices are $19,99 per month for Windows Pro version for US and developed countries and as low as $4,99 for some countries like India.

This will also include limited Microsoft Office (it will run in special restricted mode, full will be extra) and around 100GB of cloud space.

It is expected that first part will be movement to subscription Windows version for all notebooks, as it will allow to increase both Microsoft profits and profits of notebook manufacturers (Windows now will be provided fully free for them).
