They have 4-5 years to do it. After that RED is basically worthless in any case.

However it has bewildered me that no-one worked on the GH5 like how work was done on the GH1 and GH2 i.e. dumping the firmware to reverse engineer it for tweaks and patches.

I know the GH5 is pretty damn good out-of-the-box but myself and many others here would agree there was always room for improvement. I've always been hopeful but manjy years has passed and still I can't figure out why.

U.S. authorities have their sights set on China-based drone maker DJI, a company that has popularised drones for consumer and commercial markets globally. The U.S. Congress intends to ban it, as they have begun to see DJI as a national security threat. Once the bipartisan legislation passes and the firm is added to the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) communications infrastructure blocklist, DJI's business in the U.S. will effectively be over.

DJI sells drones in a wide range of markets, from consumer, to agriculture, and delivery businesses. Professional amateurs and content creators have used these drones for a variety of applications. Though its primary purpose is either personal or commercial, that doesn't stop it from being used for nefarious reasons - or worse.

DJI's drones aren't designed for combat, but the firm is facing an issue with U.S. lawmakers largely because 6% of its stocks are in the hands of Chinese state-owned businesses. There are fears of vulnerabilities and / or backdoors in the DJI app, and that profits from DJI's business will strengthen the CCP.

Representative Elise Stefanik, the New York senator said, "DJI presents an unacceptable national security risk, and it is past time that drones made by Communist China are removed from America." DJI however refutes these claims. Regina Lin the spokesperson for DJI denied its drones were used for human rights violations as they are not made for surveillance.

Magix, known as a manufacturer of audio and photo editing programs such as Magix Video deluxe and - since the acquisition of Sony in 2016 - also Vegas Pro , is insolvent. On March 1st, the Berlin district court opened the self-administration proceedings after Magix had already filed for bankruptcy in December. According to the press release, business operations will continue without restrictions - the aim is to restructure the entire company by selling it to an investor, which should be completed in the next 2-3 months.

Few night scenes around Boston using the native camera app. First clip is the 14 Pro, second clip is the 15 Pro Max and so on.

Indoor low light test: Top clip is the 15 Pro Max and bottom clip is the 14 Pro.

Another video using the Blackmagic app and this time just the iPhone 15 Pro. Used all 3 lenses. Ultra wide, regular wide and 5x telephoto.

Unfortunately the camera sensors in the iPhone 15 Pro phones are the same as the 14 Pro phones. Main sensor still the Sony IMX803. Sony has better sensors but it looks like Apple wanted to save money in the sensor department this time. At the very least, Apple should have used the IMX903 which is a little bigger. Same situation with the new GoPro Hero12 camera since it uses the Hero11's sensor.

One of my biggest headaches of the previous iPhones was the slow transfer speeds when it comes to putting videos on my PC. With the USB C, the speeds are way faster but it's not the fastest it could have been. it's 10Gbps. Would have liked a thunderbolt to get speeds of 40Gbps. Still way faster than previous gen iPhone Pro phones. The 15 and 15 Plus phones on the other hand are still the same speeds as the previous gen phones.

Speaking of USB C, we'll be able to hook up an SSD and record ProRes straight to it. Unfortunately Apple isn't enabling it for H.265 files on the native app. It does work on the BlackMagic app.

Looking at something like this sensor readout table for an x-h2s from dpreview, I was trying to understand how one would interpolate to find the readout speed for 1080p240. The 240p on this camera is exceedingly soft, supposedly because of the sensor resolution and needing more lines to be skipped because there is not enough speed available to do a full pixel readout even at the 1.38x extra crop.

So when we talk about reading the sensor lines, does it read the lines pixel by pixel, or somehow read the entire line in one instance?

I had initially assumed it was pixel by pixel across each line. In this thinking I was looking at the relationship between rez and timing, which definitely doesn't appear to be linear (6.2k --> UHD 4K is 3x MP drop but only 20% speed increase). But when considering lines vs MP, for each doubling in lines there is a 4x increase in resolution. So depending on if these readouts are based on total res or just number of lines will definitely affect those calculations.
