My travel Tripod/head was stolen. I'm looking at these three brands, but am open to others. Carbon fiber systems don't seem lighter than aluminium. Would like to keep price under 250usd. Any advice on bang for the buck units? Experiences?

I currently have the Benro S8 head on Manfrotto 055XPROB legs and it's very cumbersome travelling around on my own.

For this reason I'd like to look into getting a smaller travel tripod for my video shoots. The only one I can really find that seems decent is the Benro Aero 4, but it's quite pricey.

Does anyone else know any other alternatives?

Travel tripod/monopod with Fluid Head

I'm looking to use a Manfrotto 502HD head or something similar on a mefoto travel tripod (benro). I want it to be lightweight for traveling but sturdy enough to use a BMPCC or a GH3 on it and still get smooth tilts and pans for narrative and documentary filmmaking. Will this combination work and/or does anybody have any other suggestions? Thanks

No signs of the Greek crisis on Ios island...

A video from an idyllic Greek island that is trying to shake it's image as a party town for teens and show off it's more luxurious side instead. Filmed on the GH4 with the Panasonic 14-140mm video zoom and the 25mm Leica F1.4. Edited in Premiere and coloured with Magic Bullet Looks.

There is one scene where the footage straight from the camera was jerky, and the small church appears to jump a few times (~9 second mark). I re-timed the clip so the jumps went with the audio but it was not ideal. Could be from image stabilisation by the lens maybe?

A travel video from Puglia, Italy, at a jazz festival and along the gorgeous Adriatic coastline.

I've been using my GH2 this summer for a european project with some other bloggers, tourist boards and Expedia.

This is the latest video, from a free Gregory Porter concert and some touring of the region. It's somewhere between a roadtrip film and a jazz festival report.

I wasn't really setup for capturing the concert in full, so some of my favourite shots came unexpectedly and weren't too steady. Time to invest in a steadicam obviously... but my editing has been getting better I think, so would be interested to hear what you think of the final product. I went quite heavy on the colouring at points to appeal to the instagram generation!

Wireless SSD for travelling

Our team is developing a external wireless solid state disk that can be used to backup SD/CF card, view and share the photos via iPad, especially quick preview and manage the large RAW files. So the photographer does not need have to bring a heavy laptop while traveling.

My girlfriend fundraised for Alzheimer's Research UK and did a 450km, 10 day cycle challenge from the North to the South of Vietnam.

It was filmed on the Panasonic GH2 with Olympus Zuiko 45mm f/1.8 and Panasonic 20mm f/1.7....also a GoPro HD.

Travel in Europe through the GH3

My friend and I spent a month traveling Europe (along Mediterranean and the Adriatic) and we made a video encapsulating our trip. There was so much life that ended up being captured after we picked a shot and filmed, I just loved to film and film

And what else can be said about the GH3? I've never had such a better time color grading footage. So glad I brought this camera over the GH2

Camera: GH3, natural, -5 -5 0 -5, 200 iso for everything minus the couple night time scenes (never went above 800 IIRC), used the EM5 for couple of scenes (Thank god for that stabilization!) Lenses: 12mm olympus f2, 75mm olympus f1.8, 25mm Voigtlander f0.95, and 35mm SlrMagic

Tips for shooting in Russia?

Heading to Russia (Moscow) in a couple of weeks from the U.S. Most of my shooting will be in the client's corporate buildings, but looking to get some city/culture b-roll as well.

Is there anything special to keep in mind, either with customs going in/out of the country or in shooting on the street in Moscow?

I've traveled with gear before - wondering about tips specific to Russia. Would love to hear your thoughts or experience.

I need a little equipment and gear shopping help in Shenzhen/Hong Kong, China!!!! Lanparte User!!!!

Hey gang! So I'm heading to China in a few days, Macau specifically, but I'm trying to arrange a day trip to Shenzhen and surrounding area when I land in Hong Kong. I'm documenting a high-wire artist with my 7D, 5D, a couple GoPros, and my fantastic Lanparte shoulder rig; Master Chief Edition;) and I'm in need of a few extra thing's. I could only find these things online by ebay retailer or directly from the company in China but it dawned on me that almost everything I want is created in a factory (or is distributed) in Shenzhen or somewhat near where I am staying. Lanparte, Cinematics, Chinavasion, Dengfu (that's for my triathlon bike), to name a few. Also, many of the ebay retailers I come across when ordering are located in Shenzhen or Hong Kong. I'm in the south of France for the moment and I'm severely isolated from anything remotely resembling a photography store, let alone anything this specific. I generally order all of my stuff online as it is and from what I hear, there's no way a package would get to me in time nor should I consider having anything sent to me in China. Instead, I'm hitting the pavement and attempting to buy what I need directly from the Chinese manufacturers and I'm coming to the site that has already brought me sooooo much fortune. I'm hoping I can find a little help, if not, just some leads to go on.

The list (just simplifying, not trying to sound condescending):

Lilliput 7" monitor w/Peaking and HDMI out, ebay retailer is located in Shenzhen, I'm going to email them.

V-Mount battery pinch w/battery and accessory cables/dummy battery. I sent an email to Lanparte but I've yet to hear back.

Video tripod/fluid head. The FC-04H Mod Fluid head + CT7402 legs would be ideal (I know, order one from PV deal but I didn't have the cash until now and like I said, getting something shipped to me in China is ill-advised), or something similar. I know that Weifeng is in Ningbo but perhaps they have a retailer in Hong Kong, this is what I'm trying to find out.

Lav Mic Fuzzy windscreens.

Honestly, anywhere that sells cheap lenses. I completely understand that I get what I pay for but judging by my Lanparte rig, China really is trying to break the stigma for poor quality.

Please let me know if you've got any answers/ideas/leads/thoughts.

GH1 dust protection

Hi All — I'm off to shoot a short film in Togo in a couple of months with my GH1, and am concerned about protecting the camera and lenses from dust and humidity. So far I'm planning on storing all of my sensitive gear in waterproof bags with fistfulls of silica gel packets for the humidity, but from what I've heard the conditions are generally very dusty, which can take a serious toll. While out shooting, some people have suggested covering the camera in plastic wrap, and I was thinking about slicing up clear plastic bags to make a hood that would leave better access, but I'm concerned that either method might cause the camera to overheat (looking at ~30°C daytime temps).

Any techniques that have worked for you in the past? General tips?

I'll be traveling through Vienna and Bratislava on my way to Sardinia to cover an event soon. Anyone know of any restrictions in those countries on traveling with camera gear? Nothing huge, but will have multiple cameras 2 x Gh13's and a Panasonic HMC 152 with the usual lens/rig/kit/tripod etc.

Austria - Bratislava will be a car border crossing, the others by air.
