Is there any possibility of releasing a hack just to bypass this particular setting? Thanks in advance.

Special software for stitching together bullet time photos? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/12242/special-software-for-stitching-together-bullet-time-photos Sun, 25 Jan 2015 23:43:49 +0000 kraqman 12242@/talks/discussions Nikon had a 360 degree "bullet time" camera array at CES to create the resulting videos such as this

Are there any software on the market that can stitch the pictures from the camera array into the resulting "bullet time" video? Or they are all in-house software?

There is a painstaking way of doing this in NLEs. I was wondering if there are more time saving software out there.

Thanks in advance!

GH4 aftermarket battery shootout http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11877/gh4-aftermarket-battery-shootout Sun, 30 Nov 2014 20:37:02 +0000 willu 11877@/talks/discussions I had to buy a ton of GH4 Batteries the other day and though I would do a quick comparison between some of the best selling options. I also included a ton of info about recording times and memory cards in this video as well. I'm going to be doing something similar for the Hero 4, so my goal is to know which of these aftermarket brands is reliable in terms of capacity, functionality, etc.

Time, as most important thing http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3167/time-as-most-important-thing Thu, 10 May 2012 09:39:17 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 3167@/talks/discussions With all this budget cameras and indi films talks people forget the most important thing.
Even if you somehow get camera for $1, made film for $1 and promoted it for $1, it is not enough.
You need much more valuable resource - time. Time people will be spending watching your film. And people do not want to spend their time on things that are not important or that they do not want.

Look at the chart below.

Even if you think that you are competing with other indi guys, you are not.
You are competing with mass media, TV corporations, your local TV stations and cable networks, major film distributors. And all of them fight for time.

For a Hacked GH2, Is a recording limit of 3 minutes 57 seconds normal if recording limit is left on? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6922/for-a-hacked-gh2-is-a-recording-limit-of-3-minutes-57-seconds-normal-if-recording-limit-is-left-on Thu, 09 May 2013 12:00:09 +0000 Dr_Mabuse 6922@/talks/discussions I just hacked my GH2 for the first time with Canis Majoris Day. I forgot to check the recording time limit box in, and the camera now only records for 3 mins 57 seconds. Is this simply because of the high bitrate? It's not even something I mind, since I used to do a lot of work on film and each roll would last less than that. I'm asking just to make sure there's nothing wrong. It's the first time I've done this.

Problems Sandisk Extreme Pro 32 GB class 10 95MB/s card on Panasonic GH3 http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6832/problems-sandisk-extreme-pro-32-gb-class-10-95mbs-card-on-panasonic-gh3 Sun, 28 Apr 2013 13:25:05 +0000 Blanche 6832@/talks/discussions I tested my new memory card - a Sandisk Extreme Pro 32 GB class 10 95MB/s card. I was very surprised the camera mentioned I only had 0,5 hour of recording time - also when I re formatted the card twice. I was using the AVCHD mode 50 p 28 Mbps.

Same amount recording time, also when I switched to MP4 and Mov. I double checked the card on my notebook just to be sure they didn't place a wrong sticker - but it actually is 32 GB.

Then I tried some more cards and it's not the camera - it's this card. Have bought another card and it has the same problem here.

Then I tried resetting the whole camera to factory defaults - still the same problem. I made a recording of 0:30 hour and then checked the memory card on my macbook. It sais I have still 25,4 GB memory left. When I putted my card back into the GH3 it said I have again 30 minutes despite the fact that it told me earlier that it was full. Then I initialized the card again, getting again the 30 minutes. Shoot spent 60+ euro's spend on a 32 GB card that's runs so poor!

Hope somebody has an answer as I will have lots of problems returning these cards. Guess the card maker will blame Panasonic and vice versa.

GoPro Hero 2 - Time laspe at Sand Dunes National Park, CO. http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5695/gopro-hero-2-time-laspe-at-sand-dunes-national-park-co. Mon, 07 Jan 2013 12:24:07 +0000 solarwnz 5695@/talks/discussions Hello all!

This past September I took a trip out to Colorado to visit my friend June. We drove down from Boulder to Salida to hike at the Sand Dunes National park. The Sand Dunes are deceptively big. They don't look it but once you get up close you see that they are HUGE! Before hiking up (which was the most difficult and fun hike I ever experienced) I set my GoPro Hero 2 on a small Joby Gorrillapod by our camp site and set the time lapse feature to take a photo every 2 seconds. This very short video of the sunset is all 2700 plus pictures - which was about an hour and half. You'll me in the last few frames. :-)

Last month I purchased the newest GoPro Hero 3 which sports much better low light. I am going to do another time lapse around my town to see how the new model handles sunsets.

Anyway, I thought I would share this Sand Dune Sunset video with everyone. Enjoy!

Motion time lapse vid with GH2 http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5201/motion-time-lapse-vid-with-gh2 Wed, 14 Nov 2012 21:09:17 +0000 ed_lee83 5201@/talks/discussions Hello all! Wanted to share this time lapse video I shot exclusively on the GH2 in my home town of Hong Kong. It's become my spare camera after one year of heavy usage, but it's still alive and kicking! Mainly shot on 14-42mm lens with circular polarizer. Powered with a generic DC coupler + Sony F battery adapter.

AVCHD 1080p time lapse http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1559/avchd-1080p-time-lapse Sat, 26 Nov 2011 04:10:11 +0000 balazer 1559@/talks/discussions

This particular example was shot on a hacked GH2 in AVCHD 1080p 24-fps mode with the shutter speed set to 1/2 s. That makes the recorded video have 13 frames for each picture taken, for an effective frame rate of 23.976/13, or about 1.84 fps. You can set the GOP length to 13 frames, which will give you one I-frame for each picture taken, and then use just the I-frames in decoding. That increases compression efficiency and gives you longer recording times. The shutter angle here is 332 degrees, or 92%, which isn't bad, but ideally you want to get closer to 360 degrees so that you don't have discontinuities in the motion trails. If I did this again, I would have shot 8-fps in 300% variable mode with a 1/8 s shutter speed. Using a lower frame rate of course means there is less video data that needs to be processed.

Here's the video data flow:
camera MTS -> Haali Media Splitter -> ffdshow tryouts decoder -> Avisynth -> makeAVIS -> Sony Vegas

Here's my Avisynth script for doing 65x speed-up: 16.25x from undercranking and 4x from frame blending:
DirectshowSource("input.MTS")
SelectEvery(13)
c1=selectevery(last, 4, 0)
c2=selectevery(last, 4, 1)
c3=selectevery(last, 4, 2)
c4=selectevery(last, 4, 3)
blend1 = Overlay(c1, c2, mode="blend", opacity=0.5)
blend2 = overlay(c3, c4, mode="blend", opacity=0.5)
Overlay(blend1, blend2, mode="blend", opacity=0.5)
AssumeFPS("ntsc_video")

Time lapse photography has practical applications. Say you are filming a car driving by at 10 miles per hour, but you want to make it look like it's going 60 miles per hour. If your target format is 24 fps with a 180-degree shutter, you can shoot 24-fps with a 1/25 s shutter, and then blend the first three frames of every six into one output frame. Or you can shoot 8-fps in 300% variable mode with a 1/8 s shutter, and drop every other frame. If the car is going straight down a road with no bumps or curves, the effect will be totally convincing. :)]]>
New to ALL of this... http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2698/new-to-all-of-this... Mon, 26 Mar 2012 15:49:22 +0000 MisterBink 2698@/talks/discussions Im about to buy the Panasonic GH2. The hack info that I've found so far astounds me, especially the high bitrates, the 4K, and the 4x3 aspect because I shoot with anamorphic lenses and the 16x9 aspect is too squashed. Anyway, I'm trying to do all this for the first time, and coming from a Canon Magic Lantern background, I'm really keen to try. Anyone got some helpful tips and advice out there? Sorry for the huge NUBE sticker on my forehead! Thanks in advance everyone!
