One good thing about this lenses is their focal flange distance of 47 mm, therefore it can be adapted to Nikon, pentax, canon, or any other mount. So if lenses are the real investment because they last longer than cameras then it makes some sense to buy lenses that can fit any camera system. (Maybe Nikon makes a dslr that shoots raw). This is no 30 euro lens thread but if you know what and where to look then you could find a lot of sub 200 euro lenses.
What I find good about this lenses: excellent color reproduction long focus barrel rotation and they practically don't breath when focusing.

So lets start with the Leica nomenclature for f stops
(There are plenty more but this are the most common)
f/stop Name
f/0.95, f/1 and f/1.2 NOCTILUX
f/1.4 SUMMILUX
f/2 SUMMICRON
f/2.5 SUMMARIT
f/2.8 ELMARIT
f/3.5, f/3.8 and f/4 ELMAR, SUPER-ELMAR

So when you see a Leica lens you must see the name and the serial number.
Serial numbers are very important because they tell you the production year and the model of the lens.

This French site tells you in which year a lens was made
http://summilux.net/numeros/

Then here you can see which model the lens is
http://www.overgaard.dk/leica_lens_compendium.html
(scroll down to: “R-lenses for R3, R4, R6, R6.2, R7, R8, R9”)

Here you can see which lenses work with canon 5D without hitting the mirror
http://www.pebbleplace.com/Personal/Leica_db.html

This is good to know because then you can see when a lens is over priced or not.
For example a 3900000 Summicron 90 costs 2900 euros while a 2800000 costs 500 and a 90 Elmarit 2100000 is 250 euros. Of course prices vary depending on the condition of the lens. I bought a 90 Elmarit with dust inside for 170 euros.

So the idea is to find a good leicas really cheap, there are old leica lenses that don't work on new leica R cameras. Those sometimes are labeled as SL/SL2 or Leicaflex (those are the first slr cameras leica made.) With patience you can find a 1st model Summicron 50 for 125-200 euros; the Elmarit 135 for 170-250 euros.

Now an intresting story is the leica 24mm. Leica didn't have good wide angle lenses in the 70 and no zooms. They really liked minolta's stuff so the 24mm is actually a minolta lens, the same happens with the 16mm fisheye and the 35-70 f3,5 zoom. 70-210mmf4, 75-200 f4.5 and 80-200 f4.5 all minolta made.
With the m43 those minolta lenses are a huge deal I think way better than the fd's. The 58mm f1.2 is one of the best f1,2 ever made, and the zooms can be found dirt cheap and has the same optics as the leica.(the good versions) ]]>
FS: Leica R lens set Cine-modded EF mounts http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/13015/fs-leica-r-lens-set-cine-modded-ef-mounts Wed, 20 May 2015 16:18:33 +0000 josh_chiara 13015@/talks/discussions Leica r lens set from 21mm to 90mm

All the glass is in great condition (I have included pictures of the front and rear elements of every lens) and scratch free. There is some small dust particles on the glass, but they are all external. No internal particles of note.

All lenses are in good to great condition. The only lens that has any issues at all is the 21mm f4. The issue is very minor. The front of the lens where the filter thread is has a small amount of movement front to back. It doesn't effect anything performance wise or visually with the lens. Just want to be thorough in my descriptions.

All lenses have focus gears installed with 82mm diameters.

The 35-70mm has two gears installed. One for zoom and one for focus. The focus gear is huge to accommodate the telescoping of the lens as it zooms in and out. The gear will catch a follow focus gear through the entire range of focus and zoom.

The 28mm doesn't have the gear or the front lens sticker yet, but the gear is on its way, and it will be installed as soon as it arrives. It will be the same as the rest of the set. I will re-upload the pics of the 28mm lens as soon as the gear gets here.

Leica R 21mm f4 ser no. 2614663 Leica R 28mm f2.8 ser no. 3039902 Leica R 35-70mm f3.5 ser no. 3285508 Leica R 50mm f2 ser no. 2923077 Leica R 90mm f2.8 ser no. 2537961

$3000.00 for the set. I can throw in my Storm case for the lenses for another $100.

PM me if you are interested. Payment through Paypal is preferred so we are both protected by Paypal's policies.

Libec RS-250R Tripod Package. Excellent Condition. http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/12827/libec-rs-250r-tripod-package.-excellent-condition. Sun, 19 Apr 2015 00:23:33 +0000 cinetim 12827@/talks/discussions I picked this up at Adorama a year and a half ago. It's only been out about six or seven times so it's in excellent condition. I've since sold my DSLR and no longer need the Libec. It's unbelievably smooth, like a mini O'Connor. 75mm ball head, 2 stage pan/tilt, spreader, softcase, and can handle up to 13lbs. Perfect for DSLR's, A7s, BMC, etc. Once you tried a Libec, you'll sell your Manfrotto or Cartoni Focus.

I paid 859.00 for this package new. I'm willing to sell it for 600.00 obo.

I live in Brooklyn so I prefer NYC buyers. Otherwise, add shipping and handling to the price. I do not except Paypal - Only check, money order, cash, Chase Quick Pay, or Wire Xfer.

Voigtlander Nokton 50 (1.5), Nokton 58 or Leica Summicron R 50 on the GH2 - your "Personal View" http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5095/voigtlander-nokton-50-1.5-nokton-58-or-leica-summicron-r-50-on-the-gh2-your-personal-view Sat, 03 Nov 2012 10:39:56 +0000 gameb 5095@/talks/discussions Don't kill me because these lenses were partly discussed in earlier topics. I don't want to discuss the sharpness or optical details of these lenses. What interests me is their character... I am a bit tired of the sterile Panasonic look, even if I love my 20mm Pancake or the 14mm. But I want to change my whole line-up to a more personal aesthetic, including the wideangle, normal and tele range. I would like to try them all out and see which one I like, but this is impossible for me. This is why I am asking you your "Personal View" about them (lenses mentioned in the title are more or less in the same price category). May be some video samples?
