Pentax 645Z http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/10168/pentax-645z Tue, 15 Apr 2014 02:01:48 +0000 davjd 10168@/talks/discussions image

Super-high-resolution images made possible by approximately 51.4 effective megapixels
The PENTAX 645Z features a high-performance CMOS image sensor, with an imaging area (43.8mm x 32.8mm) approximately 1.7 times larger than that of a 35mm full-frame sensor. By combining this sensor with the PRIME III imaging engine — with its advanced image-processing and noise-reduction capabilities and anti-aliasing filter-less design — the 645Z makes full use of the imaging power and approximately 51.4 effective megapixels to deliver super-high resolution and exceptional depth rendition.

The 645Z minimises annoying image noise during high-sensitivity shooting, allowing the photographer to comfortably take pictures even at super-high sensitivities up to ISO 204800. This provides the photographer with totally new creative options beyond the scope of existing medium-format photography.

High-speed response to accommodate professional demands.
The 645Z continuously records as many as 10 images in RAW format (or up to 30 images in JPEG L mode) at a maximum speed of approximately three images per second. It also offers quick-view function, UHS-1 speed class compatibility for high-speed data storage (in SDR104 bus speed mode; with a compatible SD memory card), and USB3.0-standard data interface for easy transfer of recorded images to a computer. Thanks to its high-speed response rivalling that of 35mm-format SLRs, the 645Z assures active, flawless shooting in a wide range of applications demanded by professionals.

High-precision AF system
The 645Z incorporates a newly designed SAFOX 11 phase-matching AF module with 27 sensor points (including 25 cross-type sensors). It also detects the light flux of an F2.8 lens to optimise focusing accuracy when using a large-aperture lens. Its wide AF working range of –3EV to +18EV (at ISO 100; at 23oC) assures pinpoint focus with dimly lit subjects, which are difficult to focus accurately with the naked eye. Thanks to the new CMOS image sensor with high-speed data readout, it also provides a live-view function. This allows the photographer to make more minute focus adjustments using the contrast-detection AF mode on the live-view screen, or by magnifying the on-screen image.

Tiltable, 3.2-inch LCD monitor with approximately 1,037,000 dots In addition to its wide-view design, the 645Z’s 3.2-inch high-resolution LCD monitor with approximately 1,037,000 dots (in 3:2 aspect ratio) has a tilt mechanism to adjust the monitor angle, making it easier for the photographer to capture low and high-angle images. Its front panel is made of tempered glass for extra protection. To optimise visibility during outdoor shooting, it also combines a unique air-gapless construction which eliminates the air space between the LCD layers to reduce the reflection and dispersion of the light, with an AR (Anti-Reflection) coating to minimise reflections on screen.

Full HD movie recording at 1920 x 1080 pixels and 60i frame rate The 645Z captures beautiful Full HD video clips (1920 x 1080 pixels; 60i/30P frame rate) in the H.264 recording format. Its large image sensor is effective in recording shallow-depth videos with an effectively blurred background. In addition to the built-in stereo microphone, it also provides a stereo mic terminal for external microphone connection and an audio level control function. It also provides interval video recording of 4K-resolution images (3840 x 2160 pixels; in Motion JPEG or AVI video format) to add a new dimension in creative imaging.

Solid, dependable body
Both the 645Z’s exterior housing and the LCD monitor frame installed on the back are made of sturdy yet lightweight magnesium alloy, while the chassis is made of die-cast aluminium to optimise kinematic accuracy and thermal stability against excessive heat. The LCD panels — one on the top of the camera, and another on the back — are covered with tempered-glass plates for extra protection against scratches. The camera is also designed to be extremely durable and dependable even in harsh outdoor conditions. The body is not only weather-resistant and dustproof, with 76 seals applied around it, but it is also cold-resistant against temperatures as low as –10°C, while its dependable shutter unit has withstood a punishing operation test of more than 100,000 shutter releases.

High-precision exposure control supported by PENTAX Real-Time Scene Analysis System
The 645Z also features the innovative PENTAX Real-Time Scene Analysis System, which consists of an RGB light-metering sensor with approximately 86,000 pixels and a fine-tuned algorithm. This system not only ensures much-improved exposure-control accuracy, but also utilises the data obtained by the light-metering sensor to further enhance autofocusing accuracy and white-balance adjustment. By accurately assessing the type of scene or subject using the light-metering sensor, the 645Z not only selects the exposure settings that are most consistent with the photographer’s creative intentions, but also makes a clearer distinction between the subject and the background to ensure more accurate control of the discharge level in flash photography.

High-speed AF operation

With the adoption of a rear-focus system, the focusing lens is 93.6 percent lighter* than the previous version. By driving this focusing lens using a pulse motor (PLM), which is directly linked to a lead screw, this zoom lens operates faster - approximately 8.3 times** at its wide-angle end and approximately 1.7 times** at its telephoto end —and is quieter than the existing model.* When mounted on the new PENTAX K-70 digital SLR camera body, it offers smoother, faster AF operation with dimly lit subjects, thanks to an improved AF algorithm that exchanges AF data between the camera body and the lens with greater precision. Performance of its power-assisted focus system during manual-focus operation has also been improved. The distance ring is designed to accurately detect the angle of rotation and swiftly react to a change of angle, so this zoom lens can shift its focusing lens smoothly in response to distance ring operation.

Quiet AF operation and electromagnetic diaphragm control, perfect for movie recording

This is the first K-mount lens to feature an electromagnetic diaphragm control system.* When mounted on the new PENTAX K-70 digital SLR camera body, it delivers smooth, high-precision aperture control during movie recording. Thanks to this state-of-the-art system, it shifts the aperture setting automatically and smoothly, even when the brightness level of the subject changes drastically in movie shooting. Coupled with the PLM mechanism, it also provides smooth AF tracking operation and exposure control, while minimising the intrusion of focus and aperture-shift noises during movie-recording operation. As a result, it produces more natural, true-to-life movies in locations such as a theatre stage or forest where brightness levels fluctuate considerably, as well as for moving subjects like sports people and animals.

  • This lens features a KAF4 lens mount compatible with an electromagnetic diaphragm control system. In order to use this lens, the camera’s firmware must be upgraded to the latest version (except for the PENTAX K-70). Cameras compatible with this system are: K-1, K-3 II, K-S2 and K-S1. If this lens is mounted on a camera without the proper firmware upgrade, its diaphragm control mechanism becomes inactive, making it impossible to obtain the correct exposure.

High-quality images, with a minimum focusing distance of 0.95 metres

With focal lengths from 84.5mm to 460mm (in the 35mm format), this telephoto zoom lens provides approximately 5.5-times zoom coverage from medium to super-telephoto ranges. Its 14-element, 11-group optics include an ED (Extra-low Dispersion) optical element to effectively minimise spherical and chromatic aberrations, while delivering high-resolution, fine-detailed images with rich contrast from the image’s centre to its edges and minimal colour bleeding at any focal length setting. In addition to the short minimal focusing distance of 0.95 metres, made possible by the rear-focus system, the lens barrel has also been designed to be free of extension during AF operation, making it ideal for a wide variety of applications, such as outdoor, sports and landscape shooting.

Compact and Weather-resistant telephoto zoom lens

Its retractable structure means that the lens is only 89 millimetres long. It is extremely compact, weighing it at just 442g, making it extremely portable. The ideal lens for casual, everyday shooting.

The lens features a dependable weather-resistant construction with 11 sealing parts to effectively prevent the intrusion of water in the lens. When paired with a weather-resistant PENTAX digital SLR camera body, it creates a durable, dependable digital imaging system that performs superbly in demanding shooting situations such as mist or rain, or in locations prone to water splashes or spray.

HD Coating to optimise image description

The lens is treated with a high-grade, multi-layer HD Coating.* Compared with conventional multi-layer coatings, this PENTAX-original coating delivers higher light transmittance and less reflection for bright, high-contrast images free of flare and ghost images, even in demanding lighting situations such as low light.

Other features

  • Quick-Shift Focus system allows the user to instantly switch to manual-focus operation, even when the camera’s AF system is in operation..
  • SP (Super Protect) Coating applied to the front surface of the lens to effectively repel water and grease.
  • Rounded diaphragm with nine blades to produce a smooth, beautiful bokeh (defocus) effect, while minimising the streaking effect of point light sources.

Pentax K-3 II. blast from the past http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/12855/pentax-k-3-ii.-blast-from-the-past Wed, 22 Apr 2015 18:24:18 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 12855@/talks/discussions image

Available at http://www.amazon.com/Pentax-K-3II-DSLR-Body-Only/dp/B00WBIYADC/

RICOH is proud to introduce the PENTAX K-3 II Digital SLR; refining the ultimate field camera. Developed as the successor to the award winning PENTAX K-3, the new K-3 II shares its predecessor’s magnesium alloy casing, metal chassis, 24.35 effective megapixel resolution, 27-point AF system and approximately 8.3 frames per second shooting while adding an improved 4.5EV stop shake reduction system, new high-speed AF algorithm, GPS, gyro sensor panning detection and automatic horizon correction.

"The introduction of the PENTAX K-3 II marks our commitment to providing photographers with rugged high quality solutions that exceed our customers’ expectations,” said Jim Malcolm, President of Ricoh Imaging Americas Corporation. The “magic’’ we add to our cameras through the motion-controlled Shake Reduction (SR) technology helps our photographers shoot for the stars and capture images in stunning detail; no other manufacturer is offering such a variety of features in a single camera design.”

The K-3 II is the first camera in the PENTAX line to incorporate Pixel Shift Resolution® for capturing still life subjects with ultra-high resolving power. Pixel shift technology uses the camera’s in-body Shake Reduction mechanism to move the image sensor at single pixel increments, capture 4 separate images, which are subsequently combined into a single high definition image. Benefits include higher resolving power, reduced false color and improved overall image quality of non-moving subjects.

Building on the PENTAX K-3 camera’s rugged dust proof and weather-resistant construction, the K-3 II features a built-in GPS receiver, GPS log and electronic compass purpose- designed to stand up to demanding location work. The GPS system records shooting location, camera orientation, altitude, and provides a date/time stamp tied specifically to your images; all of which can be transferred to a computer and mapped using services such as Google Earth™.

By combining the power of GPS positioning with in-body shake reduction mechanism, the PENTAX K-3 II cameras exclusive built in ASTROTRACER® features tracks and photographs astronomical bodies such as stars and planets. The system uses GPS and orientation location data together with magnetic and acceleration sensors to calculate the motion needed to synchronize the CMOS sensor with the movement of the stars; making it possible to capture stars as points of light rather than star trails during long exposures.

“The original PENTAX K-3 has been my go to camera since it was first introduced,” said professional photographer Kerrick James. “Now with the addition of GPS, Pixel Shift Resolution, and 4.5EV stop shake reduction, my field photography is further refined and documented regardless of my remote location. This ensures my demanding shooting style will always be met and will provide my clients with consistently high quality photography.”

The new PENTAX K-3 II uses the advanced and intuitive user interface common to most PENTAX camera products. The system is compatible with a host of accessories including a versatile array of flash units, lenses, battery grip and interchangeable focus screens.

Pricing and Availability

The PENTAX K-3 II will be available in May 2015 for a suggested retail price of $1099.95.

1. High-resolution images

The K-3 II combines an APS-C-size CMOS image sensor free of an anti-aliasing filter with the high-performance PRIME III imaging engine — identical to the one installed in the PENTAX 645Z medium-format digital SLR camera — to optimize the imaging power of approximately 24.35 effective megapixels and deliver sharp, fine-gradation images. It also effectively minimizes annoying noise generated at higher sensitivities, allowing high-grade, high-sensitivity shooting even at the top sensitivity of ISO 51200.

2. New-generation PENTAX-original shake reduction mechanism

(1) Upgraded in-body SR mechanism to assure the best shake reduction performance in the K series

The K-3 II comes equipped with a PENTAX-developed SR (Shake Reduction) mechanism that can be used with any compatible PENTAX interchangeable lens.* Thanks to its new, high-precision gyro sensor, this mechanism assures more stable, effective camera-shake compensation than ever before, with an extra-wide compensation range of as much as 4.5 shutter steps — the widest of all K-series digital SLR models. Even when taking a panning shot, this efficiently controls the SR unit to always produce the best image possible under the given conditions.

(2) New Pixel Shift Resolution System to deliver image resolutions higher than the image sensor’s capacity

The K-3 II features Pixel Shift Resolution System,** the latest super-resolution technology, which captures four images of the same scene by shifting the image sensor by a single pixel for each image, then synthesizes them into a single composite image. Compared to the conventional Bayer system, in which each pixel has only a single unit of color data, this new system obtains all color data in each pixel. This innovative system delivers super-high-resolution images with far more truthful color reproduction and much finer details, while significantly lowering the level of high-sensitivity noise. Recorded images can also be synthesized, either on a computer using the accompanying utility software, or with the camera’s in-body RAW-data development function.

(3) Innovative AA filter simulator to minimize moiré

By applying microscopic vibrations to the image sensor unit at the sub-pixel level during image exposure, the K-3 II’s AA (anti-aliasing) filter simulator*** provides the same level of moiré reduction as an optical AA filter. Unlike an optical filter, which always creates the identical result, this innovative simulator lets the user not only switch the anti-aliasing filter effect on and off, but also to adjust the level of the effect. This means that the ideal effect can be set for a particular scene or subject.

(4) Supportive shooting functions

The K-3 II’s SR unit has a flexible design that tilts the image sensor unit in all directions. This is one reason why the K-3 II can provide a host of handy shooting functions, including auto level compensation; image-composition fine-adjustment; and ASTROTRACER, which simplifies advanced astronomical photography.

3. High-precision, SAFOX 11 sensor module with 27-point AF system

The K-3 II features the sophisticated SAFOX 11 AF sensor module with an expanded image-field coverage using 27 AF sensors (25 cross-type sensors positioned in the middle). The center sensor and the two sensors just above and below it are designed to detect the light flux of an F2.8 lens, making it easy to obtain pinpoint focus on a subject when using a large-aperture lens. Thanks to the combination of a state-of-the-art AF algorithm and the advanced PENTAX Real-Time Scene Analysis System, this AF system assures much improved AF tracking performance in the AF Continuous mode, while providing an extra-wide measurable luminance range (–3EV to +18EV).

4. High-precision exposure control with PENTAX Real-Time Scene Analysis System

The K-3 II is equipped with the advanced PENTAX Real-Time Scene Analysis System, which is supported by an approximately 86,000-pixel RGB metering sensor. This system is designed to optimize the camera’s overall performance, not only by controlling exposure with great accuracy, but also by utilizing the data obtained by the light-metering sensor to further enhance the accuracy of autofocusing and white-balance adjustment. It has also expanded the measurable luminance level to as low as –3EV. By detecting the type of scene or subject using the RGB metering sensor, the K-3 II selects the exposure settings that are more consistent with the photographer’s creative intentions.

5. High-speed continuous shooting with a top speed of approximately 8.3 images per second

The K-3 II continuously records as many as 23 images in the RAW format, or 60 images in the JPEG format,**** in a single sequence. This has been made possible through the use of several innovative developments, including: a high-speed, highly accurate control mechanism that regulates the shutter, mirror and diaphragm independently; a damper mechanism that effectively minimizes mirror shock; and a high-speed data transmission system incorporated in the PRIME III imaging engine.

6. Optical viewfinder with nearly 100-percent field of view

The K-3 II’s glass prism has been treated with a coating that is designed to improve reflectance for a much brighter viewfinder image. With a magnification of approximately 0.95 times, its viewfinder provides a broad, bright image field for easy focusing and framing.

7. Full HD movie recording with an array of creative tools

The K-3 II captures Full HD movie clips (1920 x 1080 pixels; 60i/30p frame rate) in the H.264 recording format. It also comes equipped with a stereo mic terminal for external microphone connection and a headphone terminal. The user can even adjust the audio recording level manually and monitor sound pressure levels during microphone recording. In addition to a host of distinctive visual effects available for movie recording,***** the K-3 II also provides the interval movie mode, which captures a series of 4K-resolution movie clips at a fixed interval

8. Built-in GPS module

Thanks to its built-in GPS module, the K-3 II provides a variety of advanced GPS functions, including the recording of location, latitude, longitude, altitude and UTC (Universal Time Coordinated) and direction at the time of shooting. The user can easily access images containing GPS data using a computer, to browse them, check on shooting locations and position data on the screen, or save them. The user can also take advantage of some unique tools, including: GPS log, which keeps track of the photographer’s movement; Electronic Compass, which displays the camera’s direction on the camera’s LCD monitor; and ASTROTRACER, which simplifies the tracing and photographing of celestial bodies by coupling GPS data with the camera’s SR mechanism.

9. Large, easy-to-view 3.2-inch LCD monitor with approximately 1,037,000 dots

On its back panel, the K-3 II features a 3.2-inch high-resolution LCD monitor with approximately 1,037,000 dots and a 3:2 aspect ratio. In addition to its wide-view design, this monitor also has a protective tempered-glass front panel for added durability, and a unique air-gapless construction in which the air space between LCD layers is eliminated to effectively reduce the reflection and dispersion of light for improved visibility during outdoor shooting.

10. Compact, solid body with dustproof, weather-resistant construction

The K-3 II’s exterior casing, consisting of top and bottom panels and front and back frames, is made of sturdy yet lightweight magnesium alloy. Thanks to the inclusion of 92 sealing parts in the body, it boasts a dustproof, weather-resistant and cold-resistant construction, assuring solid operation at temperatures as low as –10°C. 28-105mm F3.5-5.6 ED Pentax FA DC WR Lens http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/14623/28-105mm-f3.5-5.6-ed-pentax-fa-dc-wr-lens Sun, 21 Feb 2016 01:25:39 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 14623@/talks/discussions image

This new compact, lightweight standard zoom lens provides a focal-length range from wide angle to medium telephoto.

Despite its compact, highly maneuverable body, this versatile zoom lens is designed to accommodate the image circle of a large 35mm full-frame image sensor, thanks to the adoption of state-of-the-art optics and high-performance optical elements. When mounted on the PENTAX K-1 camera body, it delivers high-resolution imaging power, making it an ideal everyday lens for the new 35mm full-frame digital SLR camera.

Main Features

Standard zoom lens covering most frequently used ranges

This standard zoom lens accommodates the image circle of a 35mm full-frame image sensor, and covers focal lengths between 28mm wide angle and 105mm medium telephoto. By incorporating the latest optics and a number of high-performance optical elements, it retains a sufficient brightness level even at edges of the image field, while effectively compensating for various aberrations. It delivers high-resolution images by optimising the imaging power of the PENTAX K-1’s (approximately) 36.4 effective megapixels. Its compact, lightweight body and excellent cost performance make this lens an ideal regular lens for the PENTAX K-1.

Excellent image description, complementing the full-frame digital SLR camera performance

In its 15-element, 11-group optics, this zoom lens incorporates two high-precision aspherical optical elements, one ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass optical element and one anomalous-dispersion glass optical element, to deliver bright, sharp images with minimal chromatic and spherical aberrations. Since its optics are designed to assure ample resolving power for the large, high-pixel image sensor, it produces well-defined, fine-detailed images.

HD Coating to improve image description

This lens is treated with the high-grade, multi-layer HD Coating. Compared with conventional multi-layer coatings, this PENTAX-original coating assures higher light transmittance and less reflection to deliver bright, high-contrast images that are free of flare and ghost images, even under demanding lighting conditions including backlight.

Quick-Shift Focus System

This PENTAX-developed system allows for flawless, delay-free switching from autofocus to manual-focus operation, after the subject is captured in focus by the camera’s AF system.

Weather-resistant construction

This lens features a dependable weather-resistant construction with eight sealing parts to effectively prevent the intrusion of water into the lens interior. Paired with a weather-resistant PENTAX digital SLR camera body, it creates a durable, dependable digital imaging system that performs superbly in demanding shooting settings — even in rain or mist, or in locations prone to water splashing or spray.

Other features

  • SP (Super Protect) Coating applied to the front surface of the lens to effectively repel water and grease
  • Rounded diaphragm to produce a smooth, beautiful bokeh (defocus) effect, while minimising the streaking effect of point light sources
  • Built-in DC motor to assure smooth, quiet, high-speed autofocus operation

Pentax (Fujitsu FR) hacking http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/15152/pentax-fujitsu-fr-hacking Tue, 31 May 2016 15:33:22 +0000 Preyr 15152@/talks/discussions I am trying to start reverse engineering the Pentax firmware. I have already got some clue but i have questions which you probably may help me with.

1) Does there exist any FR-V instruction manual at all? I could find "disassemble" command in Softune manual but I cannot find any programming manual for FR-V at all, even for FR400 board which seems to be FR-V based. Even if I can disassemble code, I will stugle to read it.

2) Can I disassemble FR-V code with IDA Pro (5.0)? It seems to me that I can't.

3) How do I know entry point without any processor user manual? I do not know how an entry point looks like. - My guess is: I probably should convert all data into code and check out all positions which do not accept any jumps.

4) How do I know base address in RAM? - My guess is: I probably should count occurencies of all bytes in every alignes uint32_t (assuming that there might be addresses stored somewhere) and plot them ti see any fluctuations.

5) Does IDA 5.0 Pro Free has scripting support?

6) Which firmware should have bigger size: for DSP or for CPU? Which firmware should contain strings: one for DSP or one for CPU? I have dumped firmware using debug mode but the bigger file has "DSP" in it and also contains strings.

15-30mm F2.8 Pentax FA ED SDM WR Lens http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/14622/15-30mm-f2.8-pentax-fa-ed-sdm-wr-lens Sun, 21 Feb 2016 01:16:20 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 14622@/talks/discussions image

This new ultra-wide-angle zoom lens is designed to accommodate a large 35mm full-frame image sensor.

When mounted on the PENTAX K-1 35mm full-frame digital SLR camera body, this zoom lens covers a focal-length range from 15mm ultra-wide-angle to 30mm wide-angle.* Thanks to its exaggerated perspective, typical of an ultra-wide-angle lens and high-resolution imaging power, it captures dynamic, sweeping views of subjects, especially beneficial for landscape photography. Treated with the PENTAX-developed HD Coating, it produces well-defined, fine-detailed images with ample light levels even at the edges of the image field, while effectively reducing chromatic aberration, distortion and keeping coma to a minimum. Its large F2.8 maximum aperture also comes in handy for photographing nightscapes and starry skies. The built-in SDM (Supersonic Direct-drive Motor) provides quiet, high-speed autofocus operation.

Main Features

Exceptional imaging power

When mounted on the PENTAX K-1 35mm full-frame digital SLR camera body, this zoom lens provides an ultra-wide-angle focal-length coverage from 15mm to 30mm. Its exaggerated perspective helps the photographer produce spectacular images in landscape photography. Since it provides a 30mm focal length at the telephoto end, it can also be used for snapshots.

  • State-of-the-art optical design*

This zoom lens incorporates three ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass optical elements and three aspherical optical elements in its 18-element, 13-group optics, to deliver high-resolution images rich in contrast even at the edges of the image field, while effectively minimizing chromatic aberration, distortion and coma.

Large-aperture zoom lens, with a maximum aperture of F2.8

As this zoom lens provides a maximum aperture of F2.8 over its entire zoom range, it is versatile enough to be used for many different subjects and scenes, ranging from sweeping landscapes to nightscapes and starry skies. Despite its ultra-wide-angle perspective, it can capture the subject with an excellent bokeh (defocus) effect on the background. Even in macro photography from its minimum focusing distance of 28 centimeters, it can capture subjects with a well-defined sense of depth.

Built-in SDM (Supersonic Direct-drive Motor)

The incorporation of a new-generation SDM (Supersonic Direct-drive Motor) ensures that this zoom lens provides quiet, high-speed autofocus operation, letting the photographer react swiftly to all types of subjects

Weather-resistant construction

Special seals applied throughout the lens body provide this zoom lens with dependable weather-resistant construction, effectively preventing the intrusion of water into the lens interior. By pairing it with a weather-resistant PENTAX digital SLR camera body, the photographer has a durable, dependable digital imaging system that performs superbly under demanding shooting conditions — even in the rain or mist, or at locations prone to water splashes or spray.

HD Coating to improve image description

The lens is treated with high-grade, multi-layer HD Coating. Compared with conventional multi-layer coatings, this PENTAX-original coating assures higher light transmittance and less reflection to deliver bright, high-contrast images free of flare and ghost images, even under demanding lighting conditions including backlight.

Other features

  • Quick-Shift Focus System for instant switching from autofocus to manual-focus operation, by holding the shutter-release button halfway down and turning the focus ring after the subject is captured in focus by the camera’s AF system.
  • Rounded diaphragm with nine blades to produce a smooth, beautiful bokeh (defocus) effect, while minimizing the streaking effect of point light sources.
  • SP (Super Protect) Coating applied to the front surface of the lens to effectively repel water and grease.

Which CCTV lens for wide angle fisheye use ? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7609/which-cctv-lens-for-wide-angle-fisheye-use- Fri, 26 Jul 2013 05:31:26 +0000 TruHype 7609@/talks/discussions Hello everyone,

I've recently started to get interested in C mount (CCTV) lens, for they are fast, wide, and cheap. So I wondered, is there any CCTV lens that I could use as a Fisheye (and get the same effect as the Panasonic 8mm f3.5, but faster) ? Here's a few lens I've found looking on the internet :

  • Rainbow 3.5mm 1.6

  • Tamron 4-12mm 1.2

  • Pentax 6mm 1.2 (+ wide conversion lens x0.45)

Wanted effect :

The GH2 exact m4/3 sensor crop is x1.86.

So I would like to get the same widness as the Panasonic 8mm or any 8mm Fisheye (Samyang, Peleng, Rokinon...) :

Panasonic 8mm : 8 x 1.86 = 14.88mm equivalent (no need for ETC mode)

Rainbow 3.5mm : 3.5 x 1.86 = 6.51 -> 6.51 x 2 = 13mm equivalent

Pentax 6mm : 6 x 1.86 = 11.16 -> 11.6 x 2 = 23.2mm equivalent -> 23.2 x 0.45 = 10.44mm equivalent

x 1.86 : GH2 Sensor Crop

x 2 : ETC tele conversion mode crop (to cover vignetting)

x 0.45 : Wide convversion lens

Does that mean we could use any CCTV c mount lens instead of the Panasonic lens to get the wide fisheye effect ?

A few videos :

Lenses :

C mount lens (1/2") work well on the GH2, but I heard that the CS mount lens (1/3") would still have really heavy vignetting because even with the ETC mode it would not cover entirely the GH2 sensor. Is that true ?

Interesting CS mount lens, but 1/3 inch : http://www.ebay.fr/itm/TAMRON-Manual-Iris-CCTV-Lens-3-0-8mm-1-1-0-ASPHERICAL-C-Mount-3-Mega-Pixel-/261248954560?pt=UK_CCTV&hash=item3cd3a6b0c0

I would use the fisheye to film Skateboarding.

Thank you.

I'm selling a few things, all in very good condition. I have a Rode NTG-2 microphone that I'm selling for $150. That includes free shipping and comes with the foam wind screen and the Rode soft carry case. I also have 2 Pentax Lenses that I would say are perfect, but because I'm not a lens expert I'll just call them "very good". I used them briefly but decided to stick with my 28mm & 50mm Lomo lenses for the particular look I'm going for on my next project. I don't see any problems at all with the glass, and the images looked perfectly clean when I used them on my GH2. I'm selling them each for $100. That includes free shipping, as well as a free Pentax to m43 adapter, so these are ready to use once you receive them. They both have front and rear caps, as well as a clear screw on filter for protection. If you want to buy the 2 lenses I can offer them both for $180.

I keep all my gear properly stored in Pelican cases, and will also be very carefully wrapping and packing these before I ship them to you.

Thanks, Matt
