Both are in great condition.

20mm pancake AFS http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/499/20mm-pancake-afs Tue, 26 Jul 2011 12:15:14 +0000 LongJohnSilver 499@/talks/discussions The lumix lenses, when used in video mode, set automagically in AFC regardless if AFC/AFS is set on the camera. AFC is useless on all the lens except (maybe) on 14-140mm. I know that MF is the best option but for underwater use some housing doesn't have the focus ring so the half pressing the shutter button to trig the focus is the only way to get a decent autofocus.

Is this behavior (forced AFC) something triggered by the camera firmware or the lens firmware?

Thank you in advance]]>

Thinnest pancake lenses? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7077/thinnest-pancake-lenses Mon, 27 May 2013 00:41:35 +0000 QuickHitRecord 7077@/talks/discussions Which lenses require the smallest flange distance (i.e. the thinnest MFT adapters?) And secondly, what are some of the thinnest manual lenses?

I've tried both the Konica 40mm Pancake and the Nikon Series E 50mm Pancake, but I'm curious to see if I can go thinner.

Lumix 14mm + Wide Converter vs. Tokina 11-16mm Comparison http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5431/lumix-14mm-wide-converter-vs.-tokina-11-16mm-comparison Mon, 10 Dec 2012 01:10:35 +0000 mintcheerios 5431@/talks/discussions I got the Tokina 11-16mm (Mark I) because I wanted a wide lens I could use on both the GH3 and BMCC (if it ever comes out). I just sold the 14mm with converter on Craigslist and I thought I should do a quick test before the dude comes and picks it up. The converter is the official Panasonic DMW-GWC1 designed for the 14mm pancake.

I did three comparisons each with the lenses at f/2.8 and f/5.6. The uncropped shots are resized, but I only wanted to demonstrate the barrel distortion and vignetting with those. There are also 100% crops of each. All shots were done with the wide converter on the 14mm (sorry, forgot label it properly), and with the Tokina at it's widest setting. I used RAW on the GH2 for all shots.

As expected, the Panny combo had worse vignetting and barrel distortion than the Tokina. The GH2 corrects the distortion for the 14mm, but it can't do anything about the wide converter. At F/2.8, the Panny combo was clearly sharper than the Tokina which had some noticeable coma. At F/5.6, the sharpness is about even in the center, but the Tokina slightly beats out the Panny combo at the edges. You can also notice the purple fringing is pretty bad on the Tokina at the edge of that white book.

More GH2 shooters - First theft incident on a shoot. My lumix 1.7 pancake nabbed. KILL!!!! http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4752/more-gh2-shooters-first-theft-incident-on-a-shoot.-my-lumix-1.7-pancake-nabbed.-kill Fri, 28 Sep 2012 17:41:47 +0000 Blackout 4752@/talks/discussions My fears finally showed up... after the Zacuto thing I am now seeing a lot more hacked GH2 shooters in NYC. I shall have to dispense of them with the tear gas after this. On one shoot I had to make space with a bunch of other GH2 shooters and sure enough someone nabbed my lumix 1.7 pancake lens. Positive I didn't loose it because I have a routine and know where I keep it but that little bugger is easy to grab.

Time to hire the A team.

GH2 comes back to life! http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3880/gh2-comes-back-to-life- Thu, 12 Jul 2012 14:18:25 +0000 Blackout 3880@/talks/discussions I had scoped out the "dry seat" and been on this ride many times and wanted to do a quick no editing Trumpet Dinopup bit (2 shots with 1 lens change from outside to inside) while I control and do the voice of the puppet.

Be sure to watch full screen 1080p with the sound turned up. Only problem here is skew from me doing a one man deal and whipping the camera all over but it came out fun and it's the clearest version of the ride up on youtube. Ride operators aren't allowing stabilizers on the ride. ;P

The camera died for a few days and then magically came back to life.

Pancake 20mm f1.7 vs SLR Magic 12mm f1.6? http://personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2089/pancake-20mm-f1.7-vs-slr-magic-12mm-f1.6 Sun, 22 Jan 2012 10:46:38 +0000 Manu4Vendetta 2089@/talks/discussions People, I would like to have these two lenses, but the budget would allow me to have only one for now.

Both seems good glasses, the main use is video and film, photography as secundary, The examples indicate both are greats and cinematographic look. So, i like much use mi GH2 in the night, the luminosity is therefore a necessary condition for my.

Some people say the Panix is best, and argue the SLR is a CCTV overpriced, that argument isnt mine, so, for the tests, I think the SLR is wonderful and the price isnt excessive.

Actually I have a 14-42 its a regular lens, but is poor in low light condition and noisy in high ISO. A FD 50mm 1.8, superb, great look and softness, but have a limited angles.

I need objective opinions, thanks
