Hence, a folder may have just a few image/video files when another folder is created automatically. A search on the net has shown that others have experienced this too. However, I haven't been able to find a remedy, that is, if one even exists. My camera has firmware v2.4 and I format my SD cards in-camera. Has anyone here noticed this behavior too? If so, have you found a fix?

Panasonic has today announced the new LUMIX FZ80 from the popular FZ series that packs a powerful optical zoom and superior controllability, including manual operation over photo and video recording. The LUMIX FZ80 features the exceptionally-versatile LUMIX DC VARIO 20mm ultra wide-angle lens with a 60x optical zoom (35mm camera equivalent: 20-1200mm), which makes it possible to capture dynamic landscapes, wild animals and birds from a distance.

The newly integrated 18.1-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS Sensor and advanced image processor Venus Engine also achieve high-speed response and high-quality images even in high-sensitivity recording.

For an even faster response and higher mobility, the LUMIX FZ80 boasts a high-speed, high-precision AF with DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology[1], which shortens the focusing time. It calculates the distance to the subject by evaluating two images with different sharpness levels at a high 240-fps signal exchange speed. As a result, the LUMIX FZ80 achieves an AF of approximately 0.09 sec[2]. This benefit increases as the focal length grows.

The LUMIX FZ80 also offers high-speed burst shooting at 10-fps (AFS) / 6-fps (AFC) to capture fast-moving subjects in crisp focus. Thanks to the touch-control system, users can quickly focus right on the subject and even release the shutter with touch operation to capture fleeting photo opportunities.

The LUMIX FZ80 records smooth, high-resolution QFHD 4K videos in 3840x2160 resolution at 30p. The powerful 60x optical zoom and POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) with Active Mode suppresses blurring, even in video recording. Taking advantage of 4K technology, users can enjoy 4K PHOTO shots and a variety of derivative functions, such as the new Focus Stacking, Post Focus, Light Composition, and 4K Live Cropping. For more creative freedom, Creative Control and Creative Panorama options are available.

The LUMIX FZ80 also integrates a 1,040K-dot rear monitor with touch-control system. Together with the 0.2-inch 1,170K-dot EVF (Electronic View Finder), users can capture subjects in clear focus. It also includes Wi-Fi® connectivity to offer a more flexible shooting experience and instant image-sharing with easy operation. With hot shoe and compatibility with a variety of optional accessories, the LUMIX FZ80 goes beyond a standard telephoto zoom compact camera while providing high-quality photos and an exceptional 4K video recording experience.

Mitigate distances with a powerful 60x optical zoom lens

The LUMIX FZ80 features the stunningly versatile LUMIX DC VARIO 20mm ultra wide-angle lens with a 60x optical zoom - both as photos and video footage. The 20mm ultra wide-angle lens captures an approx. 140% wider angle of view compared with a 24mm angle of view. The POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) with Active Mode effectively suppresses hand-shake vibration both in photo and video recording.

The Intelligent Zoom is included with the LUMIX FZ80, which extends the zoom ratio up to 120x equivalent, maintaining high picture quality even when combining a digital zoom.

Capture unmissable moments with high-speed response, 4K PHOTO and 4K video

The 18.1-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS Sensor is newly-integrated into the LUMIX FZ80. Together with the high-performance image processing LSI Venus Engine, it elevates the response, sensitivity and image quality to an even higher level. Incorporating high-speed digital signal output technology, the FZ80 shoots 10 (AFS) / 6 (AFC) fps in 18.1-megapixel full resolution with a mechanical shutter.

Taking advantage of 4K technology, users can enjoy 4K PHOTO shots with the LUMIX FZ80. 4K PHOTO lets the user capture fleeting photo opportunities at 30 fps by extracting the best frame from a 4K burst file to save as a photo. Plus, multiple images can be automatically saved as 4K PHOTO shoots all at once. A maximum of 150 frames in five seconds can be saved following a designated frame.

It also comes with the Post Focus function, which enables users to select the in-focus area even after shooting. This is helpful especially in macro shooting where strict focusing is required or for changing expressions by changing the focused subject. This function has been developed by combining the high-speed, high-precision DFD (Depth From Defocus) auto focus technology with 4K technology. Both Post Focus and Focus Stacking can be activated quickly with the dedicated button on the top panel.

The LUMIX FZ80 also records stunningly smooth, high-resolution QFHD 4K videos in 3840x2160 resolution at 30p in addition to Full-HD 1920x1080 videos at 60p in AVCHD Progressive or MP4 (MPEG-4 / H.264) format with practical full-time AF.

The LUMIX FZ80 enables 4K Live Cropping in video recording to achieve stable panning or zooming in video recording. Thanks to its digital operation, panning and zooming images are smooth because it does not physically move the zoom lens.

A variety of video recording options are also available for users to choose from - High Speed Video, Time Lapse and Stop Motion Animation. High Speed Video records subjects in fast motion at 120fps.

Take amazing images and video even under strong sunlight

Equipped with a static-type touch-control system, the 3-inch rear screen with 1040K-dot high resolution features an approximately 100% field of view. The touch-control system lets the user immediately focus on a subject and even release the shutter by simply touching the screen.

The LUMIX FZ80 also has a 0.2-inch LVF (Live View Finder) with a magnification ratio of approx. 2.59x / 0.46x (35mm camera equivalent in 4:3) in 1170K-dot equivalent high resolution, 100% field of view. Thanks to the high 60-fps frame rate, image lag is also minimized making it suitable for shooting fast-moving subjects under strong sunlight.

Full manual control is available with LUMIX FZ80 to enjoy more creative photography. The design of the grip has also been re-engineered for stable holding during extended shooting.

The LUMIX FZ80 integrates Wi-Fi® connectivity (IEEE 802.11 b/g/n) to provide a more flexible shooting experience and instant image sharing with easy operation. Once the camera and a smartphone or tablet are connected, installing Panasonic's dedicated application, Panasonic Image App for iOS / Android, users can shoot, browse and share images remotely.     High-image-quality, High-sensitivity 1.0-type (inch) 4K Sensor

    The effective 1.0-type (inch) MOS Sensor (9.46 megapixels at 4K24p/8.79 megapixels at UHD, FHD) offers an appropriate depth of field and excellent balance between image quality and sensitivity. The HC-X1 can record in 4K24p (4096 x 2160), UHD 60p/50p (3840 x 2160) or FHD 60p/50p (1920 x 1080). For the global business of professional users, the system frequency can be flexibly selected from 59.94 Hz, 50.00 Hz and 24.00 Hz. The file format can be selected from versatile and easy-to-use MOV (QuickTime), MP4 and AVCHD.     Functions and Design to Support Professional Camera Work

    The lens barrel features Triple Manual Rings for zoom, focus and iris operations. There are a total of 13 user buttons, nine on the body and four on the LCD touch panel. These user buttons can be allocated with desired functions. The 3.5-type (inch) monitor built into the handle section can be pulled out and turned 270 degrees in the vertical direction for high-angle, low-angle and selfie shooting. The EVF is a high-resolution (approx. 1,769,000 dots) color OLED display with superb color reproduction. What’s more, the HC-X1 is equipped with a wealth of focus assist functions to support quick and accurate manual focusing, such as MF Assist, One-Push AF, Expand/Peak, Focus Transition and Area Function.

    The ND filter can be set to OFF, 1/4, 1/16 or 1/64. Gain selector and AWB selector are also provided. The controls are designed and engineered to meet the needs of video professionals.

    Advanced Optical Image Stabilizer (O.I.S.)

    The correction area was expanded to approximately 900%* of the conventional area to strongly correct low- and high-angle shots (compared with Panasonic’s AG-AC160). In FHD mode, a 5-Axis HYBRID O.I.S. + that adds electronic image stabilization to optical image stabilization detects and corrects 5 axes, including the roll rotation.

    High-speed, High-precision Intelligent AF

    The Micro Drive Focus Unit has achieved stable and high-speed AF with excellent tracking performance to ensure accurate focusing, which is extremely important in 4K shooting. The AF operation settings are customizable. By adjusting the speed, tracking sensitivity and area width, the user can program the AF operation exactly as intended in accordance with the subject type and application.

    Super Slow Motion and VFR (2 to 60 fps)

    The Super Slow Motion function records HD images at a high speed of 120 fps (59.94 Hz)/100 fps (50 Hz) to provide a slow-motion effect. The HC-X1 is also newly equipped with a VFR (variable frame rate) recording function that allows the change of frame rate setting in ten steps from 2 to 60 fps. This lets the user produce creative and expressive videos using techniques such as overcranking for a slow-motion effect and undercranking for a quick-motion effect.

    Professional Interfaces for Smooth System Operation

    The HC-X1 is equipped with two channel XLR audio inputs with switchable +48V phantom power supply/MIC/LINE and manual volume. It records high-quality sound in two channels using either a 16-bit linear PCM system (MOV/MP4) or Dolby Digital system (AVCHD). When mounted with the wireless module (AJ-WM50/AJ-WM30, sold separately),* an iPad installed with the AG ROP can be used for wireless remote control of camera settings, lens control and others.

    The HC-X1 also offers expandability for users in commercial video production, such as the wired remote terminal, OSD level meter, 1-kHz test tone output and headphone output (3.5-mm-diameter stereo mini jack).

    Double SD Card Slot and UHD/FHD Dual Codec Recording

    Two SD memory card slots are provided. The recording media switches automatically and seamlessly from Slot 1 to Slot 2. By changing a full SD card with a new SD card, images can be recorded continuously for many hours.

    Unlimited* Relay Recording: Data is recorded continuously by automatically switching the recording SD card from Slot 1 to Slot 2. By changing the full SD card with a new SD card, images can be recorded continuously for many hours. Simultaneous Recording: Identical data is recorded onto cards in both slots in this highly redundant recording mode. Background Recording: One SD card can be set in Slot 2 to record continuously, and another SD card can be set in Slot 1 to record necessary scenes by turning REC on and off. Dual Codec Recording: Records images simultaneously in two different formats, such as Main (UHD/FHD) and Sub (FHD), etc. This achieves an efficient workflow.

    Broadcast-grade Camera Image Adjustment Functions

    16-Axis Independent Color Correction Function: Allows color matching of multiple cameras under the same lighting condition as well as creative image rendering. Soft Skin: Makes skin colors appear soft and beautiful. Especially effective when recording a person up close. Master Detail: Adjusts the overall degree of contour enhancement. Scene File: Six sets of image quality settings are preset in scene files. Parameters in each set can be changed flexibly. One set can be saved in the main unit, and up to eight sets can be stored on an SD memory card. 8-Mode Gamma: Gamma setting can be selected from seven modes including two types of CINE-LIKE gamma. This allows the user to achieve the most suitable gradation according to the specific video production needed.

    LCD/EVF Displays That Assist Shooting

    • Waveform and Vectorscope Display: WAVE (Waveform) and VECTOR (Vectorscope) can be easily displayed on a sub screen of the LCD monitor.
    • ZEBRA: Two zebra patterns are built in. The level can be changed from 50% to 105% in 5% steps.
    • Marker (Y Level): The brightness level in the center of the image is displayed in percentage.
    • Level Gauge: Horizontal or vertical tilting of the camcorder can be checked on the LCD and viewfinder.

    I am new here. I just bought an used GH2 in good condition. As the firmware on it is 1.0 (body) and I anyway wanted to try a hack, I just followed the instructions, downloaded latest firmware (1.2.) and the flowmotion hack. All in the same folder as PTool as well. Now PTool gives me the following message after selecting the Firmware GH2__V12file: "wrong file or trying to use already patched file".

    No clue what is wrong and how to go ahead. Would be great to get some help here, thank you !

    I'll just focus on two things,

    First. It has full manual movie mode.

    Second. List of modes make me optimistic about next cameras:

    AVCHD: 1280 x 720 pixels, 50p (17Mbps) (Sensor output is 25p)
    MP4: 1920 x 1080 pixels, 25p (20Mbps) (Sensor output is 25p)
    MP4: 1280 x 720 pixels, 25p (10Mbps) (Sensor output is 25p)


    We see that progressive container is present and bitrate is raised.
    So, with very high probability we'll see higher bitrates and more fps choice in next GH.

    Not too long after the HDSLR revolution started, the companies started bringing out accessibly priced large sensor video cameras with interchangeable lenses. Such as the AF100, then later the FS100, then a bit later the C100.

    Since then the C100 has been replaced with the (very disappointingly small update) C100mk2, the FS100's big brother the FS700 has been "replaced" (unofficially) with the FS7 (so surely the FS1 or FS200 is coming along next? Perhaps a topic for another thread...). Thus where is the AF200? One which has been waiting for an update for years and years longer than any of the others (and no, the AF100A hardly counts! Though I guess that is what Canon did with their "C100mk2"....).

    Perhaps with the success of the GH4 (surely the most successful of the entire GH line so far), and the mainstreaming of 4K, those two factors will be sufficient to propel Panasonic to update the ageing AF100??

    Am somewhat considering an AF100 myself, as planning on doing the next upcoming wedding season with one GH4 body and perhaps five or so GH1 bodies (maybe swapping out one GH1 for a GH2 with a monitor instead, for my second shooter to use). Thus I'll have a GH4 for single camera shoots (corporate ads / music videos / etc) and I'll have a heap of GH1 bodies to cheaply (only US$150 each!) cover the multiple angles needed for filming live events such as weddings. And I should be able to easily edit between them (making life an awful lot easier for me than this wedding season when I used: Nikon D5200 / Sony A5100 / Panasonic GH1 / G3 / GF3 / BMPCC).

    However, half considering if it is worthwhile getting an AF100 as well if I see one cheap enough (say perhaps getting close to US$1,000-ish). As for appearances sake it could be reassuring for clients/brides to see my show up with an AF100, and not just a bunch of tiny GH1 bodies. Additionally I could have it handle some of the sound needs with its XLR inputs (additional to my usage of a Tascam DR-60D). And it is a camera which should cut in fairly easily enough with the bulk of the GH1 footage I'd hope?

    • QP step sizes table.
    • Scaling tables just like in GH2.
    • Min and Max QP.
    • All intra turner.
    • I-frame or somelike limit constant.
    • Min frame size limit(works incorrectly)

    Main problem is i can't control min bitrate, for example when shooting deep black scenes. There is steel error out after 3 sec shooting in such scenes. There is min frame size limit, i guess, i have found. But it's just increases last frame in 1-sec sequence. So need more and more testing.

    The original control grip on the Panasonic AU-EVA1 camcorder seems too short. Particularly, when cameraman shoots with it on a shoulder rig, it's not comfortable. That's the reason we design this extension arm for AU-EVA1, the cameraman doesn't even need to remove the original screws from the camera body.

    There is an AU-EVA control grip adaptor on the extension arm, just rotate the original control grip into it. On another end, there is a standard ARRI style rosette teeth adaptor with M6 screw on it, it's easy to connect to any base with the ARRI style adaptor. Besides that, we add a built-in control cable inside the arm.

    The cameraman can plug the original 3 pin control cable into the built-in port and plug another 3 pin signal jack into the "REMOTE" port on the camera body, use it as the original. Open the knob to adjust the length of the extension arm to get best holding position cameraman wants. It's the must need gear for shooting with Panasonic AU-EVA1.

    There's another model that has two USB inputs, so you could use two power banks or use one and draw more amps.

    I was skeptical, and the packaging made me even more so, cardboard & crinkly shrinkly, but I plugged it into my cheapest 5200mah power bank and measured the voltage. 8.8 volts, which is just about right (I've gone as high as 9.2, but prefer not to). Notably, the needle on my trusty voltmeter did not wiggle. Also noteworthy, it didn't seem to need the recommended 3 amp draw. It comes with a 3 amp wall wart if you just want to plug the camera into the mains for power.

    It comes with a bog standard dummy battery. The step up converter is tiny, not much thicker than the cable. Plugged in the camera (Panasonic G7) and waited. The 5200mah power bank ran the camera for 156 minutes, or two and one half hours. Not bad--you are going to lose some power in the conversion so don't skimp on the power bank. I'll do some tests later with my RAV 20,000mah bank.

    Camera ran cooler than expected.

    So there you have it, easy, lightweight power from USB. I had been using 9 volt packs with stacks of Panasonic 18650 cells (runs forever....). But this is really easy.

    You can buy adapters for most cameras, and considering the fact that it comes with a dummy battery, the price is cheap. Will it burn out? Interesting question.

A few of these intermittently exhibit some strange behavior where if you press on the mode dial, or in several spots on the back of the camera (where the LCD stores) the mode and the screen jump around rapidly. Popping the back off (easy, but don't do it if you don't know what you are doing) reveals some interesting things. In one corner, and I think this is possibly the problem, there's some small wires that don't quite fit into the clip. They are very thin, so push them into the clip very carefully. Also, be very careful of the ribbon cables.
    All of my cameras work perfectly now. After taking the back off, I gently flexed the circuit board towards the lens a few time, reseated the wires in the corner, made sure all the ribbons were in place and fully in their clips, and blew some compressed air into mode dial switch. Not sure which of these fixed the problem, but I suspect it is the wires because some of my cameras have some extra shielding there with a different clip and some do not.
    If you do need to pop the back off, make sure to remove the screw in the battery bay and also make sure to remove four screws in the viewfinder. You need to slide off the rubber seal. Again, disassemble only if really needed at your own risk.
    When you open the back, you can see that the whole back is a metal heat sink, with a small foam pad in the middle that sits on the hot chip. Inspect that foam as I think it dries out over time if you plan to keep the camera.
    To test the (assembled) camera, lightly press the upper right corner of the back where the top of the LCD would go after flipping it out. Try it both in standby and record mode. If nothing happens, leave it be. If under warranty, I recommend factory service over trying to fix it. I suspect there's a design problem that affects some of the cameras.

Although we still have a lot to learn, we believe we have managed to bring to our area a much more filmic approach to Wedding Films and have had the pleasure of working with wonderful couples who have been quick to recommend us to others. We also have won a recognised Wedding Industry award for Scotland which was certainly unexpected this year.

    Thats the credentials out the way..... I wanted to start a topic that could act as a powerful resource tool for anybody wishing to enter into Wedding Videography. A collective center of useful tips, past experiences and success stories by way of sharing inspiring films from other members. This could be useful then for someone perhaps wishing to start filming weddings, or perhaps someoe who has been given that difficult challenge of filming their friend's wedding and doesn't know where to start. Useful also to those that have been doing it for years and are looking for some inspiration and a fresh set of eyes that newcomer's bring to the table.

    With this in mind, I wanted to share the trials and tribulations we have encountered over the last year or so, the bad decisions with equipment we made and the ones where we got it right. Of course I add the caveat of everything I write being my own opinion and may of course not work for you. Every area in the world has accepted styles of what a Wedding Film should be, and what maybe works here doesnt necessarily work elsewhere. My focus in the business is the Techinal side, therefore I will only share my experiences and opinions with the equipment. As for the running of the business and interfacing with customers, maybe someone else will go into that.

    We started in the business because we saw a growing demand for Wedding Films in our area, and yet not enough people to meet that demand. In our local area exists some guys who had been doing it for many years, and were able to provide a very traditional approach to filming a wedding, but there were not a lot of companies that would cover the day with a more cinematic flare. This need combined with my wife's insatiable appetite for watching wedding videos created our business.

    We filmed our first wedding with a Panasonic SD-700 and a Panasonic SD-900. Fantastic camcorders for our first time. (We have changed cameras quite a few time before we ended up with GH3s.) We filmed a lot, maybe a lot more than we needed but we made sure we got everything we needed. We arrived early and left much later than we had planned for, but overall we are still delighted with our first film we put out. We used a RODE Videomic for the sound and generally this worked well. Where it was not so good, was when we used it directionally over one of the guests tables during the speeches. Had one of the children at the table sat somewhere else we might have picked up more of the Grooms' speech but the lesson learned was that always get your mics as close to your subjects as possible. Buy a Zoom H1, a little stand, and place it in front of your people on the top table. Sync later on and now you are free to focus on the shot and not worry about the sound. Want to be even more professional, get a wireless mic set up like the sennheiser G3 wireless kit. Mic your groom and feed the sound direct to the camera. Now you can monitor the sound through the camera.

    One of the other lessons we learned at our first few weddings was how important it is to be FAST. Using tripods all day for every shot is going to make you slow. If you are not slow, then you will be squint (not level). We quickly learned that a Monopod with the added stability of some little feet was going to be our solution. Have a look at this topic....

    This allowed us to be quick but not at the expense of stability. In my opinion there is no excuse for going handheld all day, unless you are going for that specifically "documentary" type style. We still use tripods, but only for the Live stuff. Ceremony, Speeches and the evening dance. However we have other cameras that we use on monopods during these times and the tripod stuff is mostly used as a fall back shot (a shot to cut away to when you don't have anything else). Don't try to save money on tripods, a £35 Hama job is going to be a struggle and just bite the bullet and go for the well-known names. We use Manfrotto, not to say that they are the best, but it happened more organically. We bought a manfrotto tripod and then when we got quick plates for all our cameras we then wanted to make sure all the other tripods had the same quick release mechanism. You need to be able to go from tripod, to monopod and then back to tripod fast. So if you do buy lots of different brands of tripods or monopods, you are going to have to buy lots of quick release adaptors. Such as this one.....

    You will need Lights, whether you go for the fill the room with light tactic, or maybe the more subtle approach, a good light is going to give your footage the added clarity it needs. Handycams and low-light are a disaster without good light. Just search for video LED light and make sure it has at least 160 LEDs or above for a reasonable amount of light. Watch out for size though, if you want it mounted to your camera hotshoe, dont go too big. If you intend to put it on its own stand, then think about how you are going to connect it, power it and operate it.

    Backups, backups, backups. Always think, what if this doesnt work? Have another camera running, use one more sound recorder. Take plenty of batteries, cards and more cameras if you can afford to. Dont go small with cards, if you can afford it, save yourself a lot of hassle by buying big (64gb) and trusting a good name like Sandisk. Brandless types make me very nervous.

    Putting equipment aside, there is only one bit of advice I can offer that is more interpersonal related. No matter what happens on the day, try your best to stay calm and in control. Nobody wants to see the video guy getting stressed while he screams at the guests to just hold still for one more second. Things will break, shots will go wrong, photographers will get in the way, but through it all you need to be relaxed and able to deal with whatever is presented to you. (I'm still practicsing this bit :S)

    Well, im going to leave it at that just now and see what other contributions we get. I joined this forum about a year ago and it has been my one stop shop for help, advice, information and inspiration. I hope that maybe I can pass this on in some way to someone else who was in my same position.
